Social Media: A Tower of Babel?

Christian apologist Ravi Zacharias recently discussed the ramifications of social media on society and implied that the Internet phenomenon was like the Tower of Babel from the Bible.
He began his discussion of social media that is posted in a video at ChurchLeaders.com by answering the question, "Isn't Facebook bad?"
"I think that's a great question and I frankly think it is an enormously vital phenomenon," Zacharias said. "Most of us, particularly my generation, do not fully understand it because many in my vintage will not often use it to its full extent. I don't even understand the ramifications of it sometimes, but I will tell you what, we've watched recent movements in continents and sub-continents, watched demagogues overthrown, watched systems changed, [and] watched revolutions begin." -
What About Easter, Google?

Some Christians are angry after Google honored labor activist Cesar Chavez in a Google Doodle on Sunday instead of posting an image representing the Easter holiday.
"We enjoy celebrating holidays at Google but, as you may imagine, it's difficult for us to choose which events to highlight on our site," a Google spokesperson told The Christian Post via email on Monday. "Sometimes for a given date we feature an historical event or influential figure that we haven't in the past."

Mark Sanford: Reaching Out After a Fall

Former Gov. Mark Sanford provides a good example of one of the few politicians who can regain the public's trust after a very public misstep. (It's important to note that Sanford's affair was considered much less of an issue than his leaving the state with the administration not knowing where he was.)
Prior to the primary runoff election of yesterday, a debate moderator asked Sanford, "How do you reconcile redemption with the mistrust in the personal decision [you made] which could or may have compromised the state and the party?"

Considering Eternity

There are plenty of people, especially in America, who feel that Christians place too much emphasis on eternity. But is that a legitimate criticism? Or is it simply man's attempt to try to make Christianity only apply to this life here and now? Interestingly, those who are uncomfortable with the supernatural are also uncomfortable with the biblical teaching about eternity.
Christians have just celebrated the resurrection of Christ. We do this because that event really happened, and because it is the key to our own glorious resurrection one day. Should we downplay that reality just because some folks don't want to think about eternity? Or is it our duty to present the message which Christ Himself taught, as well as the apostle Paul and many others?

Webcasting Easter

Churches across the United States, many now more technologically equipped than ever before, are set to make their Easter services and celebrations this weekend collectively perhaps the most watched Christian event in history.
As churches of all sizes ramp up their webcast and livestream capabilities, no longer is television and radio the top component to spreading the Gospel message of Jesus Christ's death and resurrection, and reaching those beyond the church walls.

The Cross Stands!

A federal judge has ruled that the display of an iconic cross-shaped steel beam in the National September 11 Memorial and Museum doesn't violate the constitutional and civil rights of atheists.
U.S. District Judge Deborah Batts concluded Thursday that the 17-foot-high cross, which became a spiritual symbol for workers at ground zero, does not amount to an endorsement of Christianity, according to Reuters.

The Case Against Priebus

I have but one question to ask you? Do you take kindly to the very recent remarks from Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus calling Christian Republicans Old Testament heretics for not supporting same-sex marriage in America? He went on further to tell the GOP to modernize the party if they expect to win future national elections.
I am calling for you today to come together with me and the Black Robe Brigade to insist as both Christians and Republican voters that Chairman Priebus resign. His failures outnumber his accomplishments, unless of course you consider his abandonment of conservative voters who stand against same-sex marriage, and the attack against our 2nd Amendment accomplishments.

Throwing Away the Rulebook

NEW YORK – The American Bible Society released on Tuesday its annual State of the Bible report, which revealed that a majority of Americans feel the morals and values of the country are declining. And the most cited reason for this decline, according to the report, is a lack of Bible reading.
The Christian Post had the opportunity to sit down with Doug Birdsall, the new president and Chief Executive Officer of ABS, in an exclusive interview on Tuesday that took a closer look at the State of the Bible report and the international experience Birdsall brings to the table.

What's in an Easter Egg?

Christians will celebrate Easter this Sunday to observe when Jesus Christ resurrected from the dead. Yet along with the sacred observance will come a more secular American tradition wherein many children will leave out baskets with the playful expectation that the Easter Bunny will come.
According to popular lore, it is the Easter Bunny who provides goodies (usually chocolate candy or ornate eggs) to children who leave their baskets out the night before. Many candy companies have taken advantage of the popular tradition and offer Easter Bunny-themed candy for that part of the year.
However, where did this tradition of a bunny that gave out eggs come from?Read more at http://www.christianpost.com/news/where-did-the-easter-bunny-come-from-92695/#1yeHe5CAIb8koE43.99
