The PCA, with over 300,000 members, is the nation’s second largest Presbyterian denomination, and is among a handful of denominations that have continued to grow consistently over the years. To accommodate the growth, the PCA’s General Assembly approved five new presbyteries – or districts, bringing the total number of PCA presbyteries to 73.

According to ByFaith, the PCA’s news magazine, the following Presbyteries will be divided at their request: Northern Illinois will be divided into three Presbyteries; Philadelphia will be divided into three Presbyteries; and Pacific-Northwest will be divided into two Presbyteries (Pacific-Northwest and Western Canada).

The General Assembly, which is slated to end tomorrow, is being held at the Chattanooga Convention Center in Chattanooga, Tenn.
