Pastor Fatally Shot Outside Church

SUITLAND, Md. (AP) - A pastor was fatally shot Wednesday outside his church that includes a private transitional home for poor families, police said.

The Rev. Milton L. Moore was shot at about 7 a.m. outside the entrance of the Warriors for Christ Ministries, Prince George's County police said.

Moore, 50, was shot in the upper body. He died in the afternoon.

Police had made no arrests and had no suspects late Wednesday.

"We don't know at this point what the motive is," said Cpl. Diane Richardson, a police spokeswoman.

People inside the building told police that they heard arguing outside before the shooting.

The transitional home, which opened in the late 1990s, can house up to 20 families. Advocates for the homeless in Prince George's County said it is an important part of the county's social safety net and helps people stay off the streets until they can find more permanent shelter.
