TechnoratiThe road was not very kind to one of Christian rock’s most prominent bands when the group’s bus broke down, forcing them to miss three concerts.
With their bus broke down, the popular Christian rock band Pillar had to miss three of their performances.
Christian crossover band Pillar, known for their hard rock sound, recently posted on their website an apology to all the cities who missed out on the concert due to their inconvenient problem.
The band missed two shows in Knoxville, Tenn., and in Athens, Ga. They also announced that they would also not be able to make their show in Tallahassee, Fla., scheduled for Mar. 21.
“Hi everyone, sorry to barely be breaking this bad news but we had a pretty hectic weekend and we're still not back to normal,” noted the band on their website. “Our bus broke down and the parts are still on the way to us as we type this. But we want to apologize to everyone who missed our shows.”
Pillar is currently on the second leg of their Days of Reckoning Tour. It is sponsored by Invisible Children, an outreach to gain exposure on the plight of children in Uganda.
At each of the shows, the band is previewing a rough version of the film Invisible Children: Rough Cut, to teach the audience about the hardships that are occurring in this African country.
Playing alongside the crew will be Showbread, Tyler Reed, and a local band from each show’s hometown.
The band has been extremely successful in its history, not only in the Christian music scene but in mainstream music as well. Their most well known song was "Bring Me Down," a crossover heavy hitter.
They have accumulated eight No. 1 singles as well as four Dove Awards, the most prestigious award given in the Christian music industry.
The group was also voted as the Best Hard Rock Band in CCM Magazine's 2006 Reader's Choice Awards.
Their fourth album, The Reckoning, was released this past October.
Pillar’s current tour was scheduled to end in Orlando on Mar. 25, but their schedule on their website shows that they will continue performing afterwards, meeting at many festivals such as Creation East, Life Festival, and Soul Fest on June 28, July 11, and Aug. 4, respectively.
Their next stop will be in Tampa, Fla., on Mar. 22, but the band has promised to return to the cities it missed in the future.
