TechnoratiThe mother of the British girl who disappeared in May recently acknowledged that there were ”darker moments” which caused her to question God, but added that those moments were short-lived.
"It's usually in those darker moments when that fear and panic sets in again and you find yourself saying why, why, why do this to Madeleine, why have you let this happen?" she said on the British Broadcasting Corp.’s Heaven and Earth show.
However, she realizes shortly after that “God hasn't done this, somebody else has."
Gerry McCann, Madeleine’s father, added that "if the worst possible scenario happens," then he was at least comforted by the belief Madeleine was "in a better place."
It has been nearly four months since the disappearance of 4-year-old Madeleine McCann from her family’s holiday apartment in Praia da Luz, a resort town in the southern Algarve region of Portugal. Madeleine vanished after her parents left her and her 2-year-old twin siblings alone in their room while they dined at a nearby restaurant inside their hotel complex.
Madeleine's disappearance triggered an international search, and her parents have traveled throughout Europe and to the United States to publicize the effort to find her.
Most recently, traces of blood found by sniffer dogs in the Portuguese apartment from where Madeleine disappeared fueled speculation that the child could have been harmed or even murdered in the room.
On Thursday, however, The Times newspaper reported that the blood traces probably do not belong to her and that forensic tests on the blood showed it probably came from a man from the "northeast European sub group." The newspaper said the analysis was only 72 percent accurate because of the sample's degeneration, and that further tests were being conducted by Britain's Forensic Science Service.
The service would not confirm the report, saying analysis of the samples was ongoing.
On BBC’s Heaven and Earth show, Gerry McCann concluded: "We don't know who's taken her, we don't know why they've taken her and we don't know what's happened to Madeleine, so it's very difficult to forgive in advance.
"We've had incredible pain over the last three months and we pray that Madeleine hasn't."
