WASHINGTON Global warming is unequivocal and the world will suffer catastrophic natural disasters if the international community fails to respond, warned the most comprehensive report on climate change on Saturday.

(Photo: AP Images / Thibault Camus)Traffic jammed on the ring in Paris, Friday Nov. 16, 2007 on the third full transport strike day. The strike centers on a protest over President Nicolas Sarkozy's promise to strip away benefits that allow some public sector workers to retire earlier than most other workers with full benefits.
The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, a group of 2,000 scientists from 140 countries, reported that carbon dioxide already in the atmosphere will eventually raise sea levels up to 4.6 feet above that in the preindustrial period, about 1850, over the next 1,000 years, according to The Associated Press.
We have already committed the world to sea-level rise, Panel Chairman Rajendra Pachauri said, according to AP. But scientists noted they cannot predict how much the seas will rise if the Greenland ice sheet melts.
The report from the U.N. panel of scientists was the combination of three previous reports and the product of six years of work researching global warming and its effects on human heath, the oceans, wildlife and other topics, according to the San Francisco Chronicles.
It found that since 1970, global greenhouse gas emissions have grown by 70 percent, and concluded that they are causing global warming.
Only urgent, global action will do, said U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, urging the United States and China the two biggest polluters to increase efforts to counter climate change, according to AP.
I look forward to seeing the U.S. and China playing a more constructive role, he said. Both countries can lead in their own way.
Ban further called for international cooperation.
We are all in this together. We must work together, the U.N. head stated, ahead of next months key climate conference.
The report by the U.N. panel of scientists is intended to set the stage and serve as a guide for the conference in Bali, Indonesia, where world leaders will discuss a global climate change treaty to replace the Kyoto Protocol, which expires in 2012.
This report will have an incredible political impact, Yvo de Boer, the U.N.s top climate change official, said according to AP. Its a signal that politicians cannot afford to ignore.
However, not all scientists agree on the global warming issue. John Coleman, prominent meteorologist and founder of The Weather Channel, called global warming an outrageous scam.
He said his research and investigation makes it very clear that global warming is a manufactured crisis.
It is the greatest scam in history. I am amazed, appalled and highly offended by it. Global Warming It is a SCAM, wrote Coleman in a blog on San Diego television station KUSI, where he currently forecasts the weather.
He said science that supports arguments favoring global warming has been manipulated resulting in what he calls bad science. The long-time meteorologist also said the earth is undergoing a natural cycle in weather that is more responsible than any climate change, and that over the next two decades there is an equal chance for a cooling trend as a warming trend.
Global Warming, i.e. Climate Change, is not about environmentalism or politics. It is not a religion. It is not something you believe in, Coleman wrote. It is science, the science of meteorology. This is my field of life-long expertise. And I am telling you Global Warming is a nonevent, a manufactured crisis and a total scam. Continue >>

say this as tactfully, and as lovingly as I can to all who side with Rick Warren in this ecumenical drive to unite the worlds religeons. Be warned, for this is what the Bible says: God is gracious and merciful, and will forgive those who turn to Him thru Jesus Christ with a repentant heart, and choose to fllow Him. However, He is the Righteous God, and He will judge those who deliberately turned their backs on Him and His Son - Jesus Christ because of their obstinate rebellion and continual rejection of His Son. Read the Bible in context, and then comment on it. We cannot, and should not have felowship with those who claim to be Christians yet don't obey His Word, and HIs Salvation Message. The post modern liberal Emergent church, and it's seeker sensitive counterparts want people to believe that if we all save the environment, and save the whales, the events of the Book of Revelation will not happen, and we can actually prevent it from happening. This similar social gospel which claims that we should make the world a better place, and usher in peace prior to Jesus' second coming, as well as unite with all people of faiths has been adopted by Rick Warren, and has caused whole splits in the Southern Baptist Convention, because he has gone down the Purpose Driven P.E.A.C.E Plan agenda, which by the way is a false doctrine my friends. These movements which align themselves with Bono from U2 and the whole COEXIST crowd have more in common with humanism, one world religeon, and the new age than what the Bible says will transpire. The problem today is that we have so many "Bible teachers" who are more motivational speakers than true shepherd's of the flock of God. No wonder the Body of Christ is split. The Bible talks of a great falling away in the end times. Men will naturally gravitate towards what their "itching ears" want to hear. What more itching do you need than what you hear on TBN, and the like: "find success", "you are the controller of your own destiny" "God will prosper you if you just have faith [and send me your money]". They take Scripture out of context to suit their own desires, and fleece the flock of God for their own matierial gain. OPEN YOUR EYES and STUDY the WORD IN CONTEXT; for Christ will return soon.
While Europe and the West are having a field day debating about who is responsible for global warming or whther it is even a "real" issue, peoples of the Pacific face a real threat of losing their homes and futures. According to radio-carbon dating and other evidence, many of the peoples of the Pacific islands have settled there for over 5,000 years as descendants of the ancient Lapita people. My own people still live there as I write. We have no oral tradition that records episodes of islands sinking under the waves or legends of the sea invading the land. As far as we can tell, these were never part of our history. However, in recent years the sea has been behaving strangely all over the Pacific. Unusually high tides several times a year, are frightening in their ferocity and tenacity as they hammer and eat away at the land. Many of our coastal villages have had to construct seawalls for protection and some have had to relocate to higher ground. In small coral atolls like Kiribati, Tuvalu, Nauru and many others, there are no high grounds to run to. Some weeks ago, we watched a disturbing documentary about how the sea goes over the sea walls at high tide in Kiribati and spills into people's frontyards and even into school playgrounds. A former High Court Judge on the island was shown weeping openly for the fate of his people and how a unique culture may soon be lost forever. While the rest of the world is debating about who should take responsibilty and even whether global warming is not just a figment of someone's imagination, the peoples of the Pacific see the evidence of it daily as they wait helplessly for their paradise homes and their wonderful cultures to be claimed by the sea and to be lost forever.
A 2003 survey of climatologists found that 82% agreed with the statement, "We can say for certain that global warming is a process already underway." Only 2.6% strongly disagree.
ExxonMobil has funneled nearly $16 million between 1998 and 2005 to a network of 43 advocacy organizations that seek to confuse the public on global warming science.
See the report:
Smoke, Mirrors & Hot Air: How ExxonMobil Uses Big Tobacco's Tactics to "Manufacture Uncertainty" on Climate Change which details how the oil company, like the tobacco industry in previous decades, has raised doubts about even the most indisputable scientific evidence and
funded an array of front organizations to create the appearance of a broad platform for a tight-knit group of vocal climate change contrarians who misrepresent peer-reviewed scientific findings. There is certainly debate and diagreement on the proportion of various factors causing global warming and what the ultimate global results will be, but it is clear that global warming is taking place.

Thanks for the link. I watched it, found it very interesting. Worth the time.
This movie helps to clarify whats behind the great global warming swindle

At least the CP did acknowledge there is disagreement on this issue. David Barton made one of the most compelling agruments for the hoax that GW is. You can find his 10 page testimony to the Senate at http://www.wallbuilders.com/LIBissuesArticles.asp?id=1464
Here is some of what he had to say:
The second factor influencing conservative religious adherents is the credibility of the scientific debate; and when something is still debated as heavily as is the issue of man-caused Global Warming, and when there is still not a clear consensus, Evangelicals tend to approach that issue with great skepticism. Significantly, in 1992, Al Gore declared: Only an insignificant fraction of scientists deny the global warming crisis. The time for debate is over. The science is settled. Yet a Gallup Poll that same year revealed that 53% of scientists actively involved in global climate research did not believe [man-caused] global warming had occurred; 30% werent sure; and only 17% believed [man-caused] global warming had begun. Clearly, despite Gores claims to the contrary, there was much more than an insignificant fraction of scientists denying that there was a man-caused Global Warming crisis.
Now, fifteen years later, there still is no consensus. For example, even though 2,500 of the worlds top scientists agree with the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) assertions about man-caused Global Warming, well over 10,000 scientists do not.
There are only two certainties about this whole thing; The world and the UN are hungry for our tax dollars and our progressives are eager to give US soverignty away.
In the 1970's there were dire predictions of millions and millions of people dying, maybe as many as a billion due to famine, etc. And this prediction, plastered across newspapers and TV, with "all the renowned scientists" in agreement, averred that the temperature change would probably be as much as 7-8 degrees by the turn of the century due to (are you holding onto your seats?) global cooling!!!!!
Responsible stewards, yes. Irrational reactionaries, no.
It is clear to most people who have taken the time to consider the evidence that Global Warming is taking place and will have major future impacts on the planet and particularly on
the most vulnerable populations. As Christians we are not only called to be good stewards of
God's creation, but also to care for the poor. It is the poor who will be least able to deal with the effects of Global Warming. One of the problems with news coverage is that it tends to give too much attention and space to people like John Coleman and the tiny minority who dismiss what the overwhelming majority of scientists are saying about the reality of climate change. This is not an issue that should be relegated to partisan politics. All Christians should support reasonable efforts to reduce Global Warming (and overlook the ridicule of people like zenodaddy as unhelpful)
It's a scam, but it's a scam that the left is getting away with because the Church in America slacked off. Global warming or no, the Church should be a voice for the care and stewardship of the natural resources God has provided. She didn't do that, and now liberal politics has taken up the banner.
The Christan community in the west needs to learn from this mistake, take a step back, and figure out where our voice needs to be heard now so it doesn't happen again.
Yes, we all need to go back to living with no electricity, cars should be replaced with hand-carts and bicycles, Air Conditioning should be replaced with monkeys who fan us when we are hot...
Global Warming is such a farce (human cause)... maybe we should blame God for the sun putting out more radiation... *rolls eyes*
I find it incomprehensible that these people do not see the ploy behind GW... humanism at work through and through
