Why I Believe Mike Huckabee Should Be President

Others have accused Huckabee of the being liberal in his fiscal policy as Governor. The truth is Huckabee lowered taxes ninety-four times while Governor. Critics point out that Huckabee raised the gas tax in Arkansas to rebuild the road system. The truth is eighty percent of the people of Arkansas voted in favor of the gas tax which ultimately improved the roads from some of the worst in the nation to some of the best in the nation. The other major tax increase on Huckabee’s watch was made necessary by a Federal Government that threatened to take over the entire Arkansas School system. Huckabee reduced the number of School Districts in Arkansas by one third saving the taxpayers millions of dollars and preventing a takeover by the Feds, a move which, in the long run would certainly have cost the taxpayers more than the tax increase. The end result in Arkansas was a school system that moved from near the bottom to near the top in the quality of education received by its students.

Some have accused Huckabee of being soft on crime pointing to the 1,033 pardons and clemencies he agreed to during his tenure as Governor. They conveniently forget to mention Huckabee rejected over 7,600 requests and that out of the just over 1,000 he granted only 100 were repeat offenders. That is a recidivism rate of just under 10 percent. The recidivism rate nationwide is just over 70 percent. These critics also forget to mention that Huckabee agreed to the execution of 16 convicted murderers. This is hardly the record of a Governor who is soft on crime.

Mike Huckabee should be president because he has the core values that are needed to face the great challenges of our day. They are values that are rooted, grounded, and built up in the Christian faith. Conservatism alone will not transform America. Conservatism that is fueled by a strong faith in Jesus Christ will. Mike Huckabee should be president because he is the only candidate who brings together genuine faith, fiscal conservatism, and a heartfelt, Holy Spirit inspired commitment to change America by leading according to God’s Word. It’s time to leave the merry-go-round of politics as usual behind by getting behind Mike Huckabee for President.

    Great insight, Dr. Beam!! If each of us who are concerned voters, would consider it our duty to elect the right man (Mike Huckabee) to the office of President, then he would be nominated and elected! We err when we fail to remember the utmost importance of a single vote! Yours may be the vote that makes the difference needed! May God give each of us an unwavering urgency to get out and vote for this man of integrity & character!

    Mike Huckabee is an honest, godly man and I support him completely. We agree with Dr. Beam's statements regarding why he feels Gov. Huckabee should be President. He has a well-balanced platform of positions that America needs to have implemented. If we foolishly place the economy before pro-life issues, then we are defintely going to regret it in years to come. God did not say that he would bless the prosperous nation. If we choose to preotect the unborn, keep marriage as holy and monogomous between a man and a woman, etc., then we may delay judgment. If we do not, then we will accelerate it. The decision really is up to us.

    Janet Huckabee is a very good example of a woman who is submissive to her husband. Biblical submission is a position of strength, not weakness and she is obviously an intelligent, fine woman of personal, inner strength. Perhaps some think of submission as being subservient or inferior......nothing could be further from the truth. I love submitting to my husband because there is freedom and peace when we obey God's word. My husband does not take advantage of me, but is a good, strong leader. We have a wonderful relationship that would absolutely not be possible if I were not submissive to him. Those who disagree with Biblical submission as Gov. Huckabee believes it need to read their Bibles again. He is right on.

    I am surprised at how un-civil some of the comments are that I've seen posted here and on other blog sites. It is not neccessary to call someone else stupid simply because they don't agree with you. If you call youself a Christian, make sure that your comments reflect His nature and character, please.

    Dr. Tony Beam's essay "Why I Believe Mike Huckabee Should Be President" should be personally delivered to all Evangelical and/or Fundamental preachers, teachers, leaders in the country. He very succintly states without emotional appeal a truly Biblical Worldview. His article should be particularly given to the Bob Jones' Clan at another South Carolina "Christian" university namely, Bob Jones University, whose leaders have spent decades calling every evangelical and/or fundamental leader of being liberal, neo-liberal, neo-orthodox, etc. and everything in between. Bob Jones has criticized other Christian schools and colleges with "going the way of the world" since they may not not agreed with him on certain non-biblical manners or customs. My alma mater, Cedarville University (when only a college) was one of his main punching bags. Now, he is supporting a Mormon in Mr. Romney. Frankly, I don't get it. Fine Christians have given their lives as missionaries to the Mormons, sacrificed life and limb in their ministry to Mormons, and many Christians suffered loss of jobs in various Utah companies because of their faith. Now, the sanctimonious "holier than thou" Jones support Romney. Maybe they will soon begin worshipping in Salt Lake City! Or were they bought by the Mormon money. Thank you, Dr. Beam, for our honesty, integrity, and forthrightness. Maybe the Jones' brothers should ask for your forgiveness for verbally sending so many Southern Baptists to hell.

    Ok folks, here's a question, if you were President how would you handle these issues? Should we just allow all illegal immigrants to stay, work under the table, pay no taxes and then they should get ammnesty for this?? While legal immigrants come and work hard, and pay taxes and have to wait years to become a citizen, how is this fair??
    I happened to like that Mike is a strong man of character and he's not afraid to tackle the hard choices that need to be made.
    JVelez - He is not pandering to Christians, He is one and this is a Christian web site.

    Mike is a true blue guy and he genuinely loves our country and he speaks to the average American!

    Amen mikeymike885: I believe that Mike is God's man and true evangelicals need to come out and vote for this brother!!! This is the year of New Beginnings, a time of peace for America is coming and so let us be praying that God's will is done in this election!

    Huckabee has a real problem with telling the truth. Three times, once on national TV during ad ebate he said he had a theology degree. He does not. He has said repeated that he never pardoned murderes, he has pardoned 12. He said he was for scholarships for illegals, no, it was the standard student aid packages, not just for the elite students like he was implying.

    On immigration he passed out flyers and on his web site while in Ohio he said he was for making illegals register and leave within 120 days (100,000 per day?), but omitted to mention part two of his plan; bring them back the next day as legal. It is called touch back amnesty. He got caught in his lies by www.alipac.us who put out a video of Huckabee taking about the second part of his plan.

    Judicial Watch has Huckabee listed as one of the top 10 most unethical.

    Now in S.Carolina, Huckabee flips again and signs the Numbers pledge. But won't Huckabee's current plan take 3 and 1/2 year to implement. I bet he goes....reallly, really, really slowly,,, so nothing at all happens. Just like what Bush is doing.

    Then on top of it all. he signed a statement a while back backing the idea that women were subervient to men. There may be a few evangelicals who go along with these ideas, but the majoirty of women will not be able to decide whether he is dumb or dumber or dumbest.

    Even if nominated, this guy does not have a hope of being elected President of the USA in the 21st century. More than 50% of the population are women, and women vote in even larger numbers.

    I agree with Hucabee's imigration policy . When it comes to children of illegals that are already in the U.S. requiring school is better that them bum around on the streets all day learning bad things. Public k-12 School should be community servce for all, (and heck why not a bowl of cereal?). If boarders were properly dealt with in the 1st place then the we wouldnt have to deal with the illegal imigrant children living over here in the 2nd place.

    The Director of HSLDA-PAC at the time, Ned Ryun, was not advised of their endorsement of Mike Huckabee until it was a done deal. He left HSLDA-PAC shortly thereafter. He thinks the endorsement is rediculous, based on Huckabees questionable, at best, record as governor.     Although I respect him as a man of God, Alot of his policies, his pandering towards christians, and his inmature, personal jabs at the other candidates are a turn off. He is in the category "will never vote" with Guliani.

    I just watched Governor Huckabees speech after the Michigan Primary. Wow. I have never seen a more compassionate, caring man that loves America and her people as much as he does. If you have time, please watch it. He is what America is about.

    And, WingHunter, may I dare to say that your attacks are backfiring?

    They may help cement the opinions of those who have already decided to close their mind to Huckabee.

    But to those who truly still have their mind open, it is rather repulsive. I was one of those. I first wrote Huckabee off as a 2nd-tier candidate. During the "Huckaboom" I got interested and started reading more. Then, I got turned off to him by some of the attacks against him, like the stuff you are pushing.

    Nevertheless, the attacks kept getting more and more shrill. I decided, "This man can't be as bad as all THAT." The very intensity of the attacks made me skeptical about them. After investigating more about Huckabee on my own, I discovered most of the attacks are false or misleading.

    But more than that, the attacks pushed me to learn more about Huckabee. The more I was exposed to him, the more I liked him. At one point I had the Eureka moment when I realized that not only is this guy pretty solidly conservative, he is a great communicator, an inspiring person, a great campaigner, and a stereotype buster. He's truly a new force on the scene, and everyone who underestimates him is making a big mistake.

    I realized, this is the guy who can finally get our message out to so many people who have their ears closed to other Republicans. He may use unconventional language for a Republican-- and this is what really freaks hardcore conservatives out. But he's talking a language many people understand. He will be the one to create the next big Republican coalition, unless the Republicans who feel threatened by it manage to assassinate him politically.

    However, I don't see it happening. As I said, the more they attack, the more it backfires.

    Although I greatly admire you and listen on my way to work your support of Gov. Huckabee still baffles me. You have always appeared to me to the complete package of a conservative and Governor Huckabee is only a social conservative. Fred Thompson is the only true conservative running. I hope you do some more investigation of Governor Huckabee and Fred Thompson. fred08.com

    Dr. Beam is exactly correct. I never heard of Mike Huckabee before the TV debates. He was given little time to speak, but showed patience, poise, and a quick wit when his turn finally came. The quality of his thought seemed quite good. I found he had graduated college magna cum laude. Then I saw he was bold enough to stand for the radical idea of a Fair Tax. So he has guts as well as brains. His character speaks for itself. He is omnipresent, which tells you all you have to know about his energy. He was appreciated by the Democrats of Arkansas who re-elected him their governor even though he is a Republican. His appeal is broad, not just to evangelicals. He can win the general election. He is a rare man and the nation is fortunate that he is often his time to be its servant leader.
