In this still image of a computer screen showing the YouTube website, an image of talk show host Oprah Winfrey is seen, April 24, 2008. The YouTube video, which features Oprah denying Jesus as the only way to God and promoting New Age ideas, has received over 5 million views and is still climbing.

The under seven-minute video montage, entitled "The Church of Oprah Exposed," was posted about month ago and has since claimed the Top Favorites spot in the Web site's News & Politics category.

According to statistics posted on YouTube, the latest streams of visitors are coming from PerezHilton.com, a Hollywood gossip blog. The author of the blog wrote that "crazy Christians" are behind the effort to demonize Oprah as a "conduit of evil."

But many Christians say New Age teachings espoused by Oprah in the video are a cause for concern. They believe the day-time host is distorting Christianity and leading many into spiritual confusion.

In a commentary posted on The Morning Call, one pastor likened Oprah's multi-way approach to God to telling a blind man standing at the edge of a cliff that whichever way he chooses to walk is equally safe.

"She holds the trendy idea that religions are essentially the same and that there are many paths that lead to God. She irrationally romanticizes the notion that God can be whatever you want him/her/it to be," writes Steven W. Cornell, pastor of a Pennsylvania-based church.

One clip in the video shows Oprah blatantly denying Jesus as the only way to God.

"How can there be only one way to heaven or to God?" Oprah asked her audience in a show taped years ago.

When one woman in the audience asked, "What about Jesus?" Oprah defiantly answered, "What about Jesus?...There couldn't possibly be one way."

Another part of the YouTube video shows Oprah hosting her recent Webinar class, in which she promotes New Age writer Eckhart Tolle and his "New Earth" book.

A guest caller asked her in the segment how she reconciled certain spirituality teachings with those of Christianity.

Oprah went on to explain how her view of God changed after hearing a charismatic preacher describe God as "jealous God" in her late 20s. She concluded that by opening her mind to the "hugeness" of God and accepting that He is love helped her to reconcile the two.

"God is a feeling experience and not a believing experience. If your religion is a believing experience…then that's not truly God," she continued to say during the webinar.

Frank Pastore, a Christian radio talk show host on KKLA, was among the many Christian leaders who criticized Oprah's views, saying the two worldviews she discusses are actually irreconcilable.

"If she’s a Christian, she’s an ignorant one, because Christianity is incompatible with New Age thought," Pastore wrote in his commentary on Crosswalk.com.

He went on to list key differences between Christianity and New Age worldviews. In one entry, Pastore said that the meaning of life for Christians is to glorify God while New Age thought showcases enlightenment.

Bill Keller, founder of LivePrayer.com, a internet-based program on faith and values, said he believes Oprah is starting her own cult.

"She has an incredible amount of influence over people and an incredible following," Keller told Celebrity News Service.

"I believe these New Age teachings are like 'spiritual crack' because people are hungry, the teachings satisfy and then they are hungry again," he added.

Keller, who has responded with his YouTube video on the matter, told Celebrity News Service that while many at this point are afraid to challenge Oprah because of her power, he expects more people to begin questioning her teachings over the next six months.

Actually the world is like a Bible. If u go to The Great Wall Of China Beijing, u will see a signboard that says "The Great Wall was built in 200BC by Emperor Shih Huang Ti.. If u go to Taj Mahal in New Delhi, u will see a signpost saying "The Taj Mahal was built by Shahjahan in 1680"-it should be AD1680. Everyone knows BC is Before Christ. But many don't know what is AD. AD means Anno Domini meaning "in the year of the Lord, of Christ's era". Have u wondered why the whole world uses Christ as the centre of history timeline reference although many rejected Christ even today. It is surely not men who instituted this BC/AD world timeline, it is God who sent Christ who ordains this timeline as He is the creator of this world. U may use other calenders but it will not be officially accepted. It reveals to us all that Christ is the only One who has the authority from God and there is no any other ways to heaven.

You know what...For a start, you are all right about what you believe in, Jesus, Buddah, Alah, and the rest. So you ALL need to Mind Your Own Business, I ask you this. If you beileve in christianity, then doesnt Jesus say something like - do unto otheres as you would have done unto you. . isn't the idea something like ' treat everyone equal? - So arnt you all busy judging here . . .You know if you follow christianity you will all be judged somewhere along the way, so why not get on and make something out of your own lives. I ask you all this. What legacy are you leaving behind?, What differneces have you all made in this world. Is it worth talking about . . .if so, share it . . .if not then get on with your own life and what you beleive in and comment on what you support rather than do the opposite to what so called christianity supposidly teaches. Also, when I signed onto this site, in the comments it had some guidlines. It said, no personal attacks. Well, what are you doing to Oprah then if its not a personal attack??
If you all got on and got busy with your life and looked after your own 'backyard' then you would not have the need to put others down. Oprahs not perfect and nor are you, I dont care who you are. but at least she's contributing and making a difference in this world, like it or not. What difference are you making? And are christians taught to tell others that they will go to hell or not get through the gates of heaven? What sort of christianity is that?

All of us either Jews or Gentiles are now living in AD Nov 28 2008. This AD time line will not last forever just like BC which had already ended about 2000 years ago. Some speculated that this fallen world will end about AD 2010 which is about 3 years from now according to the Maya’s calendar but nobody knows only God the Creator of this world knows. At the 2nd coming of Christ, this world will end and then it will be eternity.

God who sent Jesus is controlling this world. When Jesus came in the 1st century to preach about God's kingdom, He split world time line into two parts - BC and AD. Everyone know BC is Before Christ. What is AD? - the dictionary not the Bible says "Anno Domini" which means "in the year of the Lord of Christian's era. Many reject and despised Christ but why the world has to use Christ as the reference of the world time line. Is it ludicrous? This world time line was not instituted by man but God ordains it. The AD time line will not last forever, it will end when Christ returns to judge those who do not believe Him and that He is the one and only way to the Father (God)

"truthreceiver" - You need to find where you're receiving the "truth" you espouse!! The New Testament gospels (eyewitness accounts) were written in the 1st Century. Paul's gospels also are traceable to the 1st century. Jesus Christ was an actual historical figure who made extraordinary claims of Himself all of which are verifiable through Old Testament prophecy. His claim of Himself as The Son of God and that He is the way to the Father is believable because of the Resurrection. It's hard to imagine his followers at the time giving up everything, often their lives, for a lie. It would be ludicrous to imagine that the Christian Church has survived for 2000 years based on a lie. What would be the point or gain? It would have fallen over by now. Of course, I am biased as I've folowed Jesus Christ for too long to doubt His authenticity. I've had too many prayers answered by my All-Mighty Father to be swayed by the lie that "all ways lead to God". That is the lie!! Unfortunately too many well meaning people are currently falling for it and if Oprah is one then I hope she comes to her senses as she influences so many.

I feel that I must write this, I watched the oprah special webcast and read part of the book, I am a devote christian and I too believe that Jesus is the way to heaven. I think a lot of people have taken this totally out of context. If you read the book carefully - there are many great references to the Bible and how it relates to knowing God closer. The whole premise of the subject was to show people a way to feel closer to God thro more meditation or prayer - which ever you would like to call it. I think everyone has jumped for now reason. The book has taught me to be more tolorant of others and not just to conculsion and pre judge as God and Jeasus would have be do!!! Look deep inside everyone..

It is time Christians understood that the writings in the New Testament are not direct words of God. They are mere compilations of what were supposed to be religious experience written well after the religious figures were no longer alive in another continent and in another language. The writings did not take place in Israel (Palestine) and it was not in Hebrew, and was not written in the “First Century”.
It amazes how people when quoting what is assumed to be Paul’s writing, they will say “the Scriptures says” or “ God says”. It is high time we all know that there is only One God. There is no other like Him. Deuteronomy 4:18 “Hear oh people of God, the Lord thy God is one God”

The twisted writings about Jesus in the “New Testament” are all LIES. Live a holy life and be kind to others before your God and you would not be disappointed at the end, instead of relying or trusting the lies in the “New Testament” Stop defending any religion and allow God to truly move in your life and in the life of others.
YOU CANNOT STOP THE TRUTH OF GOD. Start searching the real truth and not depend on your pastor or the false writings of the “New Testament” All men may be liars but God (Not your pastors or church) will remain truthful. God is all and all.

They are, we need to ask Jesus to come into their lives and show himself to them, we shouldn't turn on them because they arn't followers of christ yet...

Why don't we stop calling everyone who isn't Jewish or muslim, christians? Why don't we stop twarting the word of God for the word of man? Its not devaluing anyone or anything because I stand up for what is right. I believe in Good and Evil, absolute Right and Wrong, certain people do not, and because i don't like the actions of those people does not mean that i dislike them or don't respect them. Why must true Christians, those that follow Christ (which I don't believe Oprah does) sacrafice what is truth for the falsity of everyone else...

    Slacker, please- please read your Bible again; God clearly says;

Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is No other name uder heaven given among men by which we Must be saved.
You can choose to believe in absolute good and evil or right and wrong; You can choose to beileve in the easter bunny or santa; However, those things will not save you.
Scripture clearly says.... But there were false prophets even as there will be false teacher among you who secretly bring in destructive heresies even denying the Lord which bought them and bringing on themselves swift destruction. And Many will follow there Destructive ways, because of whom the way of truth will be blasphemed. By covetness they will exploit You with deceptive words; for a long time there judgement has not been idle, and their destruction does not slumber.

God has sent people to bring them to the knowlege of salvation; But we are up against formidable opponents. People are captivate by their entertainging flair and cunning words. They do not hear the word of God. But we are still sent because God loves us and does not which any should perish.

Like it or not, Oprah has tremendous influence in the WORLD! I have noticed for years now that she was speaking the "new age" language. I decided not to watch her anymore. Even though I choose not to watch her show, many people do, and she is EVERYWHERE! Woe be to her if she doesn't repent and give her life to Jesus! Shey is leading many of His sheep astray. I want to prayt for her... Dear Lord,
It has been brought to light how Oprah is blinded by many false thoughts about how to get to heaven. What is worse, she is telling many this false teaching. Please help to open her spiritual eyes so that she will see the truth! She can do so much good work for your kingdom! Thank You Lord.
    In Jesus precious name,
    Amen!
I for one will no longer watch her shows, unless she gives her life to Christ. We have a voice through the ratings, What will you do? I will stand for Jesus!

    First Reverand Wright, now Oprah.

I see a trend here, leading towards Obama.

  • Fri Apr 25, 2008 1:14 pm Agree: 8   Disagree: 0

Another way into heaven huh. I remember someone else Oprah is endorsing saying the same thing.
Obama Suggests Jesus Christ Not the Only Way to Heaven:
While answering a question about his Christian faith, Obama said he believes that Jesus Christ died for his sins and through God’s grace and mercy he could have “everlasting life,” according to the Los Angeles Times.

But he also believes Jews and Muslims and non-believers who live moral lives are as much “children of God” as he is, according to The Associated Press.

As an example, he spoke about his late mother who was “not a believer.”

"[S]he was the kindest, most decent, generous person that I have ever known," Obama said, according to the Times. "I'm sure she is in heaven, even though she may not have subscribed to everything that I subscribe to."

Now the Bible says Galatians 6:6-9
I marvel that you are turning away so soon from Him who called you in the grace of Christ, to a different gospel, which is not another; but there are some who trouble you and want to pervert the gospel of Christ. But even if we, or angel from heaven, preach any other gospel to you than what we have preached to you, let him be accursed.
As we have said before, so now I say again, if anyone preaches any other gospel to you than what you have received, let him be accursed.

Dont let your Bibles collect dust, it can save your life. These false teachers are so sneaky, they decive even themselves. Ever since i decided to come back to God, I have been attacked by false teachings tring to bring me away. I was raised and taught Christian values by my parents but like many people in my age and generation college "life" (if you can try calling it life) nearly severed everything i had with God. Since my humble return to practicing true christianity i have been constantly bombarded with false teachings, legalists, and doubts and fear. If anyone else has had this same issue i urge you to read your Bible as much as you can, dont follow anyone just because they say they are christian. Im so thankfull for Romans and Ephesians, these books have saved my neck more times than I can count. Spiritual warefare is serious, we need to remeber not to be afraid. Trust the Bible over ANY other book. Try not to decive your selves. Remeber Jesus is the way. no one else, dont be concerned with the end times, have faith and He will rescue us when its time, todays trouble is enough for today, Repent, the Kingdom's at hand.

  • Thu Apr 24, 2008 9:26 pm Agree: 14   Disagree: 2

Truth is a matter of opinion. Did I get your attention with that one? One of the main issues with our society is we are focused on whose right instead of what's right. When each person stands before God at judgment it is God's opinion that will be the truth.

pvlman--there is a special place in hell for anyone who has not driven his/her life to the foot of the cross, gotten out of it, gotten into the life Christ laid down and is not living His life. He died our death--we live His life. Anything else isn't the gospel of Christ. It doesn't matter if you're Oprah or even Billy Graham (who I understand once said the only difference between him and Charles Manson was the grace of God...think about that one for a while!).

In short, pvlman, Jesus said you're either for Him or against Him. He stated what His gospel is many times in the Bible. Anyone who says the gospel is any different is calling Jesus a liar. Anyone who says Jesus changed his mind is ignoring the fulfillment of prophesy and makes cheap His death and resurrection. I guess there would be a special place in hell for that sort of person, eh?

Everyone will find out what the truth of the gospel is. Every knee shall bow and every tongue shall confess that Jesus Christ is Lord. I would encourage each one who reads this to go to Him and find out now.

My heart aches for the lost, and Oprah is one who is lost. To believe the lies of the enemy (Satan) and to close ones eyes to the truth of the gospel is heartbreaking. If it were not for Jesus Christ and Him crucified I doubt very seriously that I would be here! I think others out there can understand what I mean. People, the time is short and Christ will soon return, we should be out telling others about Jesus and helping bring as many to Christ before it's too late! Oprah has heard the gospel, I believe everyone here in America has heard the gospel at least once in there lives, but we should still pray! Pray! and PRAY! for the salvation of souls!

I just want to end with this, Jesus Christ died to reconcile the world back to the Father; and HE has done that...God has done His part...our part is to believe in the ONE that HE has sent and in the Father.....why is it so hard for us to believe that our Father loves us unconditionally and that HE came down here and entered our sufferings out of love and HE has made a way for us to GO HOME!!!!

WAKE UP PEOPLE....you think this world is everything...but this planet is DEAD and the only way off this planet...is JESUS CHRIST! Look at the world economy and the mess...and you think this will ever change??? It's heading for FIRE....this world is reserved for Fire...and Jesus is bringing a new heavens and a new earth...GLORY BE TO GOD!!! That HE has saved us!

Praises to the KING! The LORD LOVES YOU...HE DIED and GAVE HIS LIFE FOR YOU to have a new life, a new beginning...say yes to Jesus...and no to Oprah and everyone else who has the false way. There is only ONE WAY - ONE WAY JESUS CHRIST!!! The Son of God!
    Thank you, Lord God!

John 14:6 - Jesus said to him, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me."

I pray for Oprah and many who espouse what she does. We do not all worship the same God! People are worshipping the CREATION and not The Creator!

God is God and HE is working out HIS plan of salvation and not one of us has anything to say about it! Oprah will stand before God one day, just as we all shall. It is to God she will give an account...but let me state here that we need to be very careful of the "false teachers" of this day. Many are teaching destructive heresies, even things taught by demons as truth!

It doesn't matter to God how much money or power one may think they have...GOD is GOD and HE is Almighty. HE is good and loving and His jealousy is not like a humans', it is not destructive.

Everything our Father God does is out of love and He is redeeming the Creation, including man...but it just astounds me how ignorant and blind (and I was once there too) we are of who GOD is and who we are in HIM!

We are HIS children (even the ones that deny him and rebel against him) that does not stop you from being the child HE created. Praises to You Father God for saving us from ourselves and from this evil generation!

Come soon Lord Jesus and set us free from the oppression of this world! In Jesus Name, Amen

1st - Oprah does portray herself in a savior-like persona, this draws many to her. She glorifies herself and not the Lord. Christians glorify God.
2nd - People (on this blog and youtube) are getting upset that Christians are saying that Oprah is New Age yet professing to be a Christian. I don't understand their anger or frustration in that Christians (true believers) are only defending their faith.
    That's all....

You err because you do not know the Scriptures. "Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved!!" It couldn't be anymore clearer than this. This is not a touch-feely religion, but a BELIEVING experience. You must believe in your heart that God has raised up Christ from the dead, and that you must speak with your mouth your belief unto salvation!!! There's no other way.

Oprah is weak in this area, and she really doesn't know what she is talking about. She's just ANOTHER false prophet propagating falsehood and lies, and we need to be praying for her, it's that simple!!! She's correct about the hugeness of God, but she is sadly mistaken about Christ. Christ died for her sins on the Cross and shed his blood for the forgiveness of her sins!!! She grew up in a Gospel preaching church, and now she preaches against it. The Bible speaks to her condition - APOSTASY!!! Flee from her, believers!!! Challenge her, believers!!! Don't buy into her New Age nonsense, believers!!! The Lord our God is the Rock of our Salvation, believers!!! We hold on to Him, and not some TV personality who doesn't have a clue!!!!

Would Jesus contradict Himself? He said in the last days there would be those who would say "here he is". It is unfortunate that the church in America has become so watered down that such a claim by someone like Oprah would even be taken seriously.

Christianity is neither a 'belief' as such nor a feeling. It is a relationship. The 'belief' comes from the relationship. We love Him because he first loved us. We respond to his love and the relationship grows.

As for there being no sin...why do we have police, courts and jails? If one can sin against a fellow man then surely one can sin against God. Anything else isn't even rational.

aminahyaquin wrote "It is a tragedy that people want to make the communtiy of belivers an exclusive club reserved for their gang."

It was Jesus Himself who said, "I am the way, and the truth and the life. No person comes to the Father (God) but through me." (John 14:6)

Jesus Himself set a foundation of exclusivity. He claims to be the only way a person can enter into the presence (discover) God. With this understanding, Bible believing Christians can only insist that Jesus is the ONLY WAY, because Jesus said it.

Now, either Oprah and her new age guru's are correct, meaning Jesus is a liar or a lunitic. OR Jesus is telling the truth and everyone who denies it is a liar. Being a Bible believing Christian, I can only accept what Jesus says and consider everone else wrong.

Again, Jesus said, "Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it." (Matthew 7:13).

oprah is exactly right. the same God that createdour magnificent varied world and its 700 sects of Christians, a variety of beauty across all the species in diverse array, and commonalities among all the religious practices that seek God as the source of all that is good, loves, values and guides every single being who seeks the path of righteousness.
sadly, zealots in all religions belive that only they have a monopoly on God.
there is an old jain parable in which ioo blind people are touching different parts of an elephant. each describes their piece of the whole as the entire creature.
It is a tragedy that people want to make the communtiy of belivers an exclusive club reserved for their gang.
Christians are the most split up religion int he world, they all fight woith each other.
Oly a true believer like Oprah has the sense and magnanimity of spirit to replace evil(childhood abuse) with demonstrated Love and spiritual generoosity (so called new age).
why do we not stop trying to reduce and devalue otehrs for their beliefs and instead try to understand and respect them.
Oprah si at elast a sholy as the Godd samritan, and probably a lot holier than many ofthe holier than thous on this Board.

fullgospel: Yes! But we must remember when praying for someone that their will is involved.

So why don't we all pray that Oprah would become an unabashedly on-fire Christian? Think of the good she could do with all the blessings of influence God has bestowed on her.

and if you do not know the Word then deception will overtake you about the new age movement. It is subtle to those who do not know.

Lightsmith: I agree. But steve harvey wasn't on her show. He was on the megafest that Jakes had. It was raunchy. Oprah is going on adrenaline from all the attention.

I have not been watching her for many years, so I did not see the bit with Steve Harvey. All I was saying is that we need to pray that someone would correct Oprah... hopefully on air so that viewers can also see the error of the New Age teachings.

    To chicago24:

You said: "One can espouse that belief that Christ isn't the only way to heaven and still be a Christian. The documents of the Second Vatican Council even state that God's grace is sufficient enough to save those who have never heard of Christ."

Beloved, this is not according to His word. If the Second Vatican Council stated this, then they are in error. God's word is quite clear on this.

John 3:3 In reply Jesus declared, "I tell you the truth, no one can see the kingdom of God unless he is born again."

John 14:6 Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

Chicago24, what has the final authority, the church or the who holds the church in His hands? Which would be better to believe? These are questions one must ask themselves when dealing with teaching that is contrary to what is written.

Lightsmith: I will watch my words very cautiously when making comments about ministers. But from what I saw on tv with Jakes megafest a couple of yrs. ago, I don't think he can help Oprah. I was apalled at what I saw. Perhaps you saw it. I am referring to the comedian 'steve harvey'

I have been praying that T.D. Jakes or someone she respects can show her the error of her ways. I stopped watching her years ago when her New Age beliefs became apparent.... so I agree completely with smbga
