Survey: Obama in Strong Position to Win '08 Election

By Jennifer Riley|Christian Post Reporter

Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama is in a very good position to win the November election against Republican rival John McCain, according to a survey released Monday.

Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Barack Obama D-Ill., gets off the plane at Raleigh-Durham International Airport in Raleigh, N.C. Monday, June 9, 2008.

Many key factors point strongly in favor of Obama as the next U.S. president, said the national study conducted by The Barna Group.

Obama holds a 50 percent to 35 percent lead over McCain among likely voters, according to the study.

Moreover, those likely to vote for Obama are more solidly backing their candidate compared to those who support McCain. Nearly three-quarters (73 percent) of Obama voters are “absolutely certain” that they will vote for him, whereas only 59 percent of McCain voters are equally committed.

Obama’s supporters are also much more confident that the Illinois senator will win (53 percent), compared to those that say they will vote for McCain (31 percent). Research of past elections indicate that such confidence affects voters’ likelihood to turn out to vote.

Also what Obama has going for him is the excitement of registered Democrats for his campaign (48 percent), versus the significantly lower enthusiasm from registered Republicans for their candidate (30 percent).

Other factors in favor of Obama include the relatively few numbers of undecided voters – just 15 percent of the registered voters who are likely to vote have not chosen a candidate to support, and the large number of newly registered young adults who are heavily Democratic and strongly leaning towards Obama.

“The national survey showed that there are no specific reasons to believe that Sen. McCain is likely to win the election,” the Barna study commented

Although McCain has significantly higher support among evangelicals, Republicans, and conservatives, the backings of these groups are still not enough to give him the lead in November, according to the study.

What McCain and his supporters can hope for is the following possibilities:

• Obama commits a major mistake or there is significant negative revelations about the Democratic candidate
• A massive number of people who are either not currently registered to vote, or registered voters who are not currently likely to vote in November, actually turn out to vote and select Sen. McCain by a substantial margin
• Obama supporters do not turn out for the election because of election fatigue or because they assume he is likely to win and does not need their vote
• Possible racial backlash, as some analysts have suggested, because he is black
• The vice presidential candidates of both presidential nominees sway voters towards McCain
• Independent voters swing towards the Republican candidate
• The eruption of a major national security issue where McCain can claim he has more experience to better handle the related defense and security issues
• Clinton and Obama do not resolve their rivalry, resulting in McCain’s gain of former Clinton-backers.

“In order for Sen. McCain to win in November, it seems that several of these factors would have to occur in order to change a sufficient number of votes to the Republican candidate,” the Barna study noted.

George Barna, the founder of The Barna Group and the one who conducted the survey, commented that while presidential campaigns have a history of surprises that alter the election outcome, several factors in this year’s election caused many Americans to already make up their mind on which candidate they will vote for.

The factors include the race starting “so early” and extensive media coverage.

"Senator McCain has a difficult, uphill battle ahead of him. Running a traditional campaign is not likely to either motivate the unmotivated voters or dislodge the voters already committed to Senator Obama,” Barna said. “He will need to bust outside the normal flow of political activity and thought to pull out a victory. Senator Obama needs to remain focused, consistent and steady in order to prevail in November."

The Barna report is based on telephone interviews of a random sample of 1003 adults across the United States, age 18 and older, in May 2008.

I read the article you mentioned regarding the Pastor in Alberta, Canada.

I can only say that while he seems very passionate about his fight against homesexuality, he should have also gone after the adulterers and fornicators.

Nevertheless, the purpose of the fight is not to instigate violence but rather to promote the Word of God.

ACLU is part of the Communist and Socialist groups that now have invaded America. The connections of these groups are tricky because they are based on the "Fusion Theory" of Michael Harrington of New Party, a Chicago based party of Obama in 1996 who gave him his first election win.

ACLU is affiliate of Communist Party of USA, Democratic Socialists of America, Progressive Movement, Progressive Alliance, CODEPINK, the Working Families Party, AFL-CIO, ACORN, AAAN, MoveOn, RAINBOW/PUSH, Progressive Women, and the so-on. They are all Anti-War and champion of Civil Liberties. Note that these groups belive that Arabs and Blacks are the most deprived people in America. Obama partly helped the establishment of AAAN of Khalidi.

Looking for typology: After the fall of Communism in 1991, the communists and socialists have reinvented themselves and they now become champions of Anti-War, anti-racism and pro-immigrants, freedom of religion (including no religion), pro-labor, pro-poor, pro-welfare state, and anti- US soldiers. They are now branding himself with all those good principles... but with Add Ons. Some say that this is the most deceitful form of Anti-Christianism and Anti-Jews you can muster with. Why? You can hardly denounce their principles as they just copy your ordinary basic American principles, unless you do not know the interior objective. Try the history of Obama while in Chicago with the Hyde Park. And the switching of religion and affialitation, since day 1.

Many of these people were part of that Anti-War Movement led by UN NGOs in late 2001 which spread around the world the Anti-Iraq War sentiment of Bush Administration. Treason but no one wanted to admit. These people have succeeded so much many of traditional and religious groups in America are so silent about their own doubts against the War. The new brand of communists have successfully gotten the sympathy of the people and made the people hate their own Government.

After destroying the original principles of Democratic Party and put their own ideologies as cornerstone of this Party.... there is only step to complete the victory....Marginalise the Republican Party by winning 2008 Election by November. If unopposed, Obama's win will declare victory of Communist Party and start of a new American Socialist Era.

The fate of American Future now is in hands of Jews and Christians, if you don't join together and consolidate, Communist America will be born.

This election is not about war or economy, as the Socialists have successfully brainwashed many Americans, it is about the birth of a new nation.... Socialist America of the 21st Century.

    The Choice is yours.

You have always boasted in your beloved RCC. So please don't say that you don't. But then, I boast too I suppose. I boast in my Lord Jesus Christ and Him alone as the Savior of my soul, and the one who will judge me in that Day. In Him I place my trust, and only in Him. Not in man that lies, but God is ever truthful and His Holy Spirit leads me into all truth.
I boast that my God still heals the blind, deaf, mute, sick, and diseased. I boast that my God still delivers the oppressed and those in bondage. I boast in that my God still hears the cry of the humble, but resists the proud. I boast in God alone.

God kept His original covenant with Isaac..not Ishmael.

19And God said, Sarah thy wife shall bear thee a son indeed; and thou shalt call his name Isaac: and I will establish my covenant with him for an everlasting covenant, and with his seed after him.

20And as for Ishmael, I have heard thee: Behold, I have blessed him, and will make him fruitful, and will multiply him exceedingly; twelve princes shall he beget, and I will make him a great nation.

21But my covenant will I establish with Isaac, which Sarah shall bear unto thee at this set time in the next year.

So we see that the covenant that God made Abraham was to be manifested through Isaac, not Ishmael. All God did for Ishmael was bless him. That's it. He made not covenant with Ishmael or his offspring. He never said Ishmael's descendants would be His chosen people, nor that they would remain faithful to him.
They do not follow the true God. If they did, then they would have accepted Jesus as the Son of God...not just a prophet; a mere man. If they did follow the true God, they would not kill in his name, they would not hate in his name. No, they do not serve the One True God of Abraham and Isaac. Y'wh, Yehov'h, Yeshua, Adonai. The One True God of all creation, by whom the stars came into existence. Who spoke light into the universe. Who formed man from the dust of the earth, and breathed his own breath of live into him. No, the Muslims do not follow Him.

Don't you just love surveys? Having been in the news I learned just how to do a survey to get the results you want. Give me enough time I can find a survey that will tell you just about anything you want!

"I wonder how the god of the Muslims, who condones and promotes murder...can be the same true God who teaches love, patience, meekness, selflessness?"

When Ishmael got sent out with his mother and angel of the Lord told her he would be the start of a great nation. There is no evidence that the God of Abraham had any contact with him after that. Thus the confusion. It was God that promised Abraham that from him would come a great nation. Then Abraham messed it all up. Yet, God kept the birthright to both sons (both being first born of the mother).

I would like to point out that in Canada (at least from my point of view) it is relatively good. Better than here. Or maybe it is just for Catholics... i don't know. All I know is Catholic Churches in Quebec (yes a very catholic province) are winning trials left and right to gain back their rights. Perhaps just a stroke of luck :P perhaps the Canadian government favors catholics (I could see why, as we do not completely mess up any government we get involved in) Besides it is not like Catholics can REALLY be oppressed in the States. Pope calls a three-day catholic strike :P that's 36% of the population, baby. In their homes. Three days. I guarantee you that would win us any trial if we needed it.

I am not being rascist, but I speak the truth. God knows that if Obama were a white man, he would stand no chance. Really people... can we face it and say that the ONLY reason that Obama has gotten to where he is is thanks to the African American Community? McCain can't come out and say it, but I can :P and it is very true, and even the person that will probably flag this comment knows it. I pray every night that our lovely, socialist senator does not win. If he does we will have universal healthcare and high taxes with the love-making between him and his blue congress. Flag the truth. Flag the truth.

For those of you Christians who are still naive enough to vote for a liberal Democrat, this just came in hot off the press:

Canadian Pastor Fined after Speaking Against Homosexuality

Human-rights tribunal also orders him to stop sharing his Bible-based beliefs.

A Canadian human-rights tribunal has ordered a Christian pastor to renounce his faith and never again express moral opposition to homosexuality, WorldNetDaily reported.

The Alberta Human Rights Tribunal ordered the Rev. Stephen Boissoin to stop expressing his biblical perspective of homosexuality and to pay $7,000 in "damages for pain and suffering."

The decision came after Boissoin wrote a letter to the editor of his local Red Deer, Alberta, newspaper in 2002 that included this statement: "Children as young as five and six years of age are being subjected to psychologically and physiologically damaging pro-homosexual literature and guidance in the public school system; all under the fraudulent guise of equal rights."

Prophet, it is not merely a skewed view of God, but often times it is outright ignorance. I cannot speak for Bush, his knowledge or his motives. I was merely pointing out that it is a common misconception to think of the God of Abraham as one in the same as Allah, since that is what they claim. Anyone can make theological errors, especially out of ignorance. Even the great late Walter Martin was criticized for taking people’s words at face value (as in the Seventh-Day Adventists).

I remember hearing Dr Robert Morey in Indianapolis a decade ago, and he decried the Bible translations that call God, Allah. I studied it out and came to the conclusion that I will never claim they are the same, at the same time I cannot think to know the heart and beliefs of those who misuse translations of words as he points out. I understand the argument, but I also must humble myself before God – He is the righteous judge, knowing the thoughts and intents of the heart.

Some of you may have been confronted by someone involved in the ‘sacred name’ cult, such as Oneness Pentecostals. I remember having one of them challenge me to get rebaptized in the name of ‘Jesus’. Just about the time I thought I had them figured out; I was challenged this time by someone who was from the Assemblies of Yahweh. Their mission is to rebaptize everyone in the name of Yahweh or Yeshua (the true name for Messiah), I can’t remember which. They claim that Jesus is a late English translation that derived from ‘Zeus’ and thus is pagan in origin. The term ‘God’ was used to replace ‘Yahweh’ which is also pagan in concept and said to not be His proper name.

The point of all this is to show that some of these name games can actually be hoisted upon Bible believing Christians as well as naïve ones. People say a lot of dumb things; I unfortunately am not excluded from the curse. Thank God for His grace.

i did vote for our President twice. Had i known what he was i would not have. He is not alone in that belief. I have heard of the 'black stone' in the U.N. building they pray too. The elite has there own rituals, the Masons have there own 'god' and worship. Mormons, J.W.'s, Roman Catholic, Metropolitian, UCC, WCC, Unitarian/Universalist and more. How many in the USA really have a firm Foundation under there feet? And many denominations's falling apart Episcopalion/Angilcan, Methodist, Pentecostal,Lutheran. Then we have the ACLU, People for the American way, Separation of Church and state , NEA, Planned parenthood. Schools filling up with Godlessness at every level. Horrible Things i have heard that goes on in some. We are being sued to 'accomodate' the patronage of perversion or be fined by courts set up by our politicians, in canada i hear its really bad. Human rights courts are appointed as far as i know. Then we have the Ecumenical/interfaith movement. Who is Saved in this Country? All make choices, all have Faith, they can choose to put it where there heart is.
Now its True when we are Babes in Christ Jesus we dont know alot , and have to be Purged of false thinking so we are not led down every false wind of doctrine that comes by. I agree i made some mistakes and God in his infinite Wisdom showed me my errors. But there comes a time when we have to say they are false brethren, false prophets, false Christs! God teaches when and how. And there are those who fought against Christ then in there later years gave there hearts over to him! And those who gave there hearts to him then turned away ! So its not over till its over. But we still have got to do as Christ does.

this isnt the first time the President has said this. He is not Saved. I Pray for him daily and his Administration. Our courts and Legislatures at every level. Our Troops , and that they bring Glory to Christ there Lord, and many are Saved because of what they do out of Love and Obedience.

letely agree, Prophet. Jesus said, "I am the way, the truth and the life & no one comes to the Father but by Me." I see no ambiguity or room for "confusion" there, do you? I'm not yet so pessimistic re: the election. I question the survey's findings because in my home state of Ohio (a must win state) as well as bordering states of W.V. & Kentucky, every poll I've seen shows McCain leading Obama. Though I'm not a big McCain fan, the alternative is EXTREME liberalism & inexperience. If I don't vote for McCain, I would be helping to elect Obama. That's how we got the 1st Bill Clinton term. Unlike some of Obama's long-term "spiritual advisers", I am not racist. Give me a black man/woman or "Martian" for that matter who has Judeo-Christian values & I will enthusiastically support their election.

He must have split personalities or something.
See, the God of the Bible has a Son, who came to this earth...God incarnate...who said that He was the ONLY way to God.
The muslims believe that Jesus was just a mere man...a prophet.
Doesn't sound like the same God to me...

Someone has a skewed view of the only true God.

igh, There are a lot of Christians that are confused about the three monothesitic religions of the world.

I remember when I was a young niave Christian having a co-worker approach me questioning Islam, as he was considering becoming a Muslim. My response was, what do they think about Jesus? Well, they believe that Jesus was a prophet. It sounded OK to me. What did I know? Well, today I know a lot more that I did then. Was I unsaved then? I think not. Am I partly responsible for misleading that man? I'm afraid so.

George Bush is a politician, not a theologian. At the time of the attacks he could have called for a holy war in the name of Jesus, ridding America of all Muslims and systematically cleansing our nation in the same way Hussien did in Iraq. Instead he took the diplomatic approach and tried to form bonds with American Muslims by targeting Islamic terrorists.

It is not up to me to judge his salvation based on illinformed theology or general niavity. We all have a lot of growing to do. Hopefully Obama will recognize his need to grow up, rather than side-stepping responsibility in the name of convenience (i.e. abortion and homosexual marriage).

    Is Obama's candidacy constitutional?

Bloggers are raising questions about Illinois Sen. Barack Obama's qualifications to be U.S. president, because of the secrecy over his birth certificate and the requirement presidents be "natural-born" U.S. citizens.

Jim Geraghty, reporting on the Campaign Spot, cited the "unlikely" but still circulating rumor that Obama was born not within the United States, but elsewhere, possibly Kenya.

Geraghty defined the concerns most clearly, stating: "If Obama were born outside the United States, one could argue that he would not meet the legal definition of natural-born citizen … because U.S. law at the time of his birth required his natural-born parent (his mother) to have resided in the United States for '10 years, at least [f]ive of which had to be after the age of 16.'"

He then points out Ann Dunham, Obama's mother, was 18 when Obama was born "so she wouldn't have met the requirement of five years after the age of 16."

Geraghty continues: " (Interestingly, apparently there isn't much paperwork on Obama's parents' marriage. 'Obama: From Promise to Power,' page. 27: 'Obama later confessed that he never searched for the government documents on the marriage, although Madelyn (Obama's maternal grandmother) insisted they were legally married.' Also note that Obama's father apparently was not legally divorced from his first wife back in Kenya at the time, a point of contention that ultimately led to their separation.)"

The reports released to date show Obama was born in Honolulu to Barack Hussein Obama Sr., of Nyangoma-Kogelo, Kenya, and Ann Dunham, of Wichita, Kan.

Last year, presidential candidate Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., made a promise to the Planned Parenthood Action Fund:

"The first thing I'd do as president is sign the Freedom of Choice Act," he said.

The so-called Freedom of Choice Act could wipe away every state law limiting abortion, undoing decades of legal work, research and educational successes.

Obama has co-sponsored the legislation with 18 other senators. The bill has the support of 109 members of Congress.

That's kinda funny you'd say that considering how Shrub Jr. lied us into a a war that was an uneeded one, leading to the death of over a million and costing over 3 trillion by the times its all said and done. If those aren't the acts of an anti-christ, then what is? So, a person who is pro-abortion/pro-choice is bad, but some how a person who LIES (big christian no no, I guess not for him though?) and get's us into an unrelated war is somehow ok or gets a pass? Why? Simply b/c Bush SAYS he's chrisitan or acts in certain manner as if he were one? Do the actions and neglegence prior to and following Katrina make you proud, or compell you to say this president is somehow, actually a reputable Christian?

It is better to win a war than to quit when not advised to by the military only to lose and fight on home soil. Head lines today at Focus on the Family: Obama makes promise to planned parenthood to push abortion. Check it out for yourself . I bet they will/have give him a million or two to keep their billion dollar blood sport alive. Government health care? if I had the time I would explain the ills of that--in a nut shell it sounds good but it really makes you government dependent for lower quality care.

"Obama has said that his first order of business will be to see that there is unrestricted access to abortion"

What crack are you smoking? I think Obama has moer important things to address than simply the abortion issue. The Iraq war is pretty high on the list, as is how gas prices are soaring, national healthcare, a manhattan type project to remove our dependence on foreign energy, particularly oil, and how each are affecting our economy and our quality of life, our nearly 10 trillion in national debt (and you wondered why the value of the dollar is tanking), and so on. So many more important things on the list that ol George hasn't even resolved that the next guy will have to come in to clean up.

We all follow someone's gospel: either the one who has been a great destroyer from the very beginning, prowling about like a roaring lion...or the Lion of the Tribe of Judah, who says "let the little children come unto me." You decide whose gospel the Democratic contender preaches. Then, vote pro-life with a Republican.

I think the proabortion women will lick their wounds after the loss of Clinton, but will come in force voting for the canidate that will uphold their right to murder their unborn children, which is obama. By the way a write in vote is one less vote for the prolife canidate on the ticket . No one written in will win. Come on church lets be wise and agressive with our vote. ya snuze ya lose Religious liberty, Biblical values..., its bye bye to the way it was and its hello to the newer koran sureea way . dont be decieved by the hype .

I declare that God will expose the deception over this presidential campaign and His Glory
will rise upon His church in this hour. John McCain will not need to fight for his actions
speak louder than words. No greater love hath a man, than to lay his life down for a
friend. God will honor our Fathers and all those who continue to lay down their lives
for us so we can freely worship Him by honoring John McCain. His sacrifice and price
along with all those whom he represents will not go unnoticed by heaven.

If you have a little "Fear of the Lord" in your heart, If you consider yourself to be a Christian a follower of Jesus Christ and uphold his Ideals and moral values. If you consider abortion murder of innocent life. If you feel it's unethical for a man get married to a man or a woman to marry a woman and raise children. If you want our tax dollars to go toward programs that will end global warming instead of feeding the hungry and developing our own oil resources to lower gas prices. Then please take my advice.... Do not vote for Barrack Obama!!!!!

He is pro-gay marriage and very pro-abortion! If you believe that one day you will be judge by the Lord for your actions. Then consider voting for a candidate that has always been pro-life and against gay marriages. I don't agree with all of John McCain's views or politics but I will vote for him because of these 2 issues. I will not be an accomplice to murder! And I will not be used by the devil vote for someone who will allow same-sex marriages in this country. Before you give your vote to some one do the research learn about what Senator Obama believes visit my blog..

Or send me an email and I will email you a pdf. file called Obama Exposed. Extremely informative.

P.S. It's our responsibility to vote. instead of not voting and allowing the enemy to gain advantage cast your vote towards the lesser of the 2 evils. In this case it's McCain which I believe is more experienced and because he is a war vet I think he will deal strongly with the terrorist that want to destroy this country. Less babies will die and the biblical definition of a family the union of one man and one woman in marriage raising children, will be preserved.

    I love you all!

Once Obama gets in the White House, we'll have a bit of heaven on earth. Anything is better than the last seven years.

I'm not worried. Each day, I try to put more and more faith and trust in God's word and in Jesus Christ as my Savior and Lord, and I'm trusting less in government. Life on earth is fleeting, and time is nearing an end in these last days. God's plans and promises for Israel and the Christian Church around the world, and for those who are lost without Christ, will come to pass regardless of who's president in America the next 4-8 years. Either man could reside as president while the world approaches the seven-year tribulation period prophecied in the Old and New Testaments.*

*Matthew 24:21: "For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be."

i'd give this time. there are some prior hillary supporters here at my work place that are very very reluctant to vote for Obama, some have even said they will vote for McCain.

Personally, I may not vote for either candidate in either party this year. May have to do a write in.
