New Management Helps Blessid Union of Souls 'See the Light'

By Kevin P. Donovan|Christian Post Reporter

Platinum-selling Blessid Union of Souls is back with their seventh album in which they embrace their Christian faith through songs like "Back From The Dead" and "Let's Get Outta Here," which tackles the subject of abortion from the viewpoint of the unborn fetus.

The pop/rock band, known best for their smash hits “I Believe” and “Hey Leonardo (She Likes Me for Me),” recently released Close to the Edge through Torque Records and has reassured fans that they have not abandoned the songwriting integrity that helped establish them as one of the premier groups of the mid-to-late '90s.

What the band has left, however, is the lightless path they were on, finally seeing "a light at the end of the tunnel that they had not seen in a long time."

After signing with Atlanta-based New Line Management, headed by Caleb Morgan, six-year Blessid veteran Bryan Billhimer said Morgan “brought a new sense of direction, energy, passion and excitement to the band that had been missing for a while now.”

"I can't remember when the band felt this confident before,” the guitarist says on the band’s website, blessidunionofsoulsonline.com.

After hitting the scene in the 90s with what some critics see as one-hit wonders, Blessid Union of Souls stayed away from the studio between 2001 and 2005. At the end of this period, the band’s sixth studio album was released, proving to many fans that the band was still active.

Some fans were disappointed by their latest album, however, because eight of its twelve tracks were taken from their previous album, Perception.

Others, however, say they are encouraged by the four fresh new songs on the album and believe that the band is finally getting back in full force with a new outlook on their careers and an innovative management company to guide them.

“Blessid Union of Souls are an amazing band,” says Blessid fan Marco Marchiani, who praised the group for their meaningful lyrics and inspirational music.

“In my opinion, [they are] one of the most under-appreciated bands ever.”

Last week, Blessid single "Could’ve Been With You" was No. 39 on the HOT AC Indicator Chart.

The band is currently urging fans to call their local radio stations to request for the song and also add it to their MySpace page for a chance to win a free autographed copy of the single.
