WASHINGTON (AP) — President-elect Barack Obama will use the same Bible at his inauguration that Abraham Lincoln used for his swearing in.
Obama will be the first president since Lincoln to use that Bible, part of the collection of the Library of Congress.
"President-elect Obama is deeply honored that the Library of Congress has made the Lincoln Bible available for use during his swearing-in," Presidential Inaugural Committee Executive Director Emmett Beliveau said in a statement Tuesday.
Obama is also tracing the train route that Lincoln took and holding a welcome event at the Lincoln Memorial ahead of his Jan. 20 inauguration.
The burgundy velvet Bible with gilded edges was purchased and inscribed by William Thomas Carroll, clerk of the Supreme Court.
It will be on display at the Library of Congress February 12 to May 9 as part of an exhibition titled "With Malice Toward None: The Abraham Lincoln Bicentennial Exhibition." The exhibit will then travel to five other American cities in commemoration of the bicentennial of Lincoln's birth on Feb. 12, 1809.

My granfather voted for Richard Nixon over John F. Kennedy in the 1960 election. As I remember, almost immediately after Nixon lost, my grandfather said something like this: "I didn't vote for him, but now he is my President." My grandfather supported Kennedy in areas he could and prayed for him. Oh what a great deal of good that attitude would do today.
Bush is the Herbert Hoover of our time, Obama may very well be the next FDR who brought hope and optimism, and saved America from collapse during the economic melt down of the Depression.
Obama is intelligent, prudent, cautious, thoughtful, knowledgeable, non-ideological and a good communicator. Obama has all the hallmarks of a strong leader. He is all the things Bush is not. Bush is a failed president.

Obama was born in Honolulu, Hawaii in 1961. Hawaii became a state in 1959 so Obama was born in America. He's an American citizen.

Lincoln is probably Obama's favorite president in history. Lincoln selected political opponents to be in his administration, and Obama is doing the same thing, for example Senator Clinton was chosen to be the Secretary of State.
Thanks to the president we have now, we have been in two wars longer than it took to win World War Two, and our economy is now in the worst shape it's been since the Great Depression. An intelligent man like Obama, instead of the total moron President Bush, is what America needs now more than ever.

I couldn't care less what particular Bible that Obama uses for his inauguration.
What's more important is that Obama abides by the principles & governs with the wisdom provided inside such a Bible.
To permit & promote the killing of the unborn is to reject the biblical wisdom found between the covers of the Holy Scriptures.
May God have mercy on Obama when he places his hands on that Bible!
May the Holy Spirit place a conviction upon Obama's heart so that the burden of hypocrisy would be so cumbersome that he would repent & turn to Christ in genuine faith.

Interesting fact: Charles Darwin was born on the exact same date Lincoln was born.
