Make Supporting Persecuted Christians a Top Priority in 2009

By Dr. Carl Moeller|Christian Post Guest Columnist

Monetary gifts help organizations like Open Doors provide Bibles, literacy training, pastoral training, emergency relief items and much more. Also, volunteering on behalf of persecuted Christians is a great way to make an impact. Open Doors has a 2009 Gift Catalog online (www.OpenDoorsUSA.org) which lists current needs for persecuted Christians – like medical kits, training Christian leaders at Bethlehem Bible College and a printing press in a closed country.

Mobilize Others

Many believers in the West don’t have a clue that millions of Christians are being persecuted for their faith in Jesus Christ. In fact, there are more Christians being persecuted for their faith today than at any other time in history. You have the opportunity to tell others and to mobilize your church or small group into action.

Go To The Persecuted

Go to restrictive countries like China to visit suffering Christians…even if it is a stretch for you. Pray with them and encourage them in the faith. You will be a blessing to them and you in turn will be tremendously blessed. My travels to such countries as Colombia, China, Iraq and Pakistan have changed my life. Their faith in the face of intense persecution has humbled me but also challenged me to stand stronger in the gap with them.

Wow, Mike, I'd like to meet your pastor! My pastor doesn't have a multi-million dollar home, or a jet. In fact, he's driving a 3 year old Chrysler minivan and flies coach to India to oversee our Church's investment in ministry and missions. I do due diligence on our church's expenditures, as should all believers, and will be increasing my donations of money and time in 2009.
Pray for the oppressed believers everywhere!

yeah right! pastors & televangelist have multi million $$$$ homes & luxury cars & sometimes private jets. what hypocrisy. they 'help others' so they can use it as TAX EXEMPTION for their own personal use.

and these pastors & televangelist prosecute fellow believers but again they do not practice what they preach or they are just HYPORCITES!!

"We can believe that the persecution we hear about in other lands will never reach the United States. We thought that about terrorism as well".
    This statement is prophetic.
Indeed , we have the choice to be blind or seek the truth. Persecution for Christians has been prophesised and we can see the further erosion of Christian values in our society as time goes by. We need to pray for our children and future generations, because things are only going to get worse for the followers of Our Lord and Saviour - JESUS CHRIST.

No doubt that Western Christianity is a bit sheltered. We live according to what the media shows us.

We must always remember to keep our eyes and ears open to what is happening in our own backyard.

We can believe that the persecution we hear about in other lands will never reach the United States. We thought that about terrorism as well.
