Since the Miss USA competition on April 19, Prejean has gone from interview to interview discussing her highly publicized comments on same-sex marriage – comments that many agree likely cost her the crown.

During the pageant in Las Vegas, openly gay gossip blogger Perez Hilton had asked Prejean whether every state should follow Vermont's recent move to legalize same-sex marriage.

In her response, 21-year-old Prejean said she thinks “it’s great that Americans are able to ... choose same-sex marriage or opposite marriage."

"And you know what, in my country, in my family, I think that I believe that a marriage should be between a man and a woman," she continued. "No offense to anybody out there, but that’s how I was raised and that’s how I think it should be between a man and a woman."

Since then, Prejean has experienced a huge backlash from some liberal media outlets and some within the gay community, including Hilton, who fired back with a malicious video posting in his blog.

But more than criticism, Prejean has received a great deal of support, some of which has also come from members of the gay community, who told Prejean that people like Hilton are not a representation of who they are.

“I just want to thank everybody so much for your support, for the letters, e-mail, messages I've gotten,” Prejean said Sunday in front of her home church, The Rock Church in San Diego. “[And] I want to thank the gay community for their support, for apologizing to me on behalf of this man (Hilton) that said this to me and the personal attacks that he has on me.”

During her appearance Sunday, Prejean shared about her experiences from the time the politically charged question was asked to the several interviews that she went on to give, which included those on Fox News and NBC's Today Show, among others.

She spoke of the loneliness and fear she felt as she flew by herself for her first post-pageant interview, the hateful responses she's received, as well as her surprise over being instructed to "represent" the state of California by not talking about her faith and by apologizing to the gay community for the passing of California's Proposition 8, a measure that defined marriage in the state constitution as the union between a man and a woman.

"I was representing California," she said, seeing as how Prop. 8 passed 7 million votes to 6.4 million (52.2 percent to 47.8 percent).

"I was representing the majority of people in America," she added.

Also sharing about what happened behind the scenes was the church’s senior pastor, Miles McPherson, who was there to support and coach her from the moment she arrived in New York for her first interview.

McPherson, who once played professional football for the San Diego Chargers, was one of the biggest advocates of Prop. 8 last year and happened to be heading for New York when the mediastorm broke out around Prejean.

On Sunday, he shared the stories behind the story and urged his congregation to stand up for their beliefs as Prejean had done.

“We are being punked by the culture,” McPherson said. “The Christian Church is being punked.”

“You have to stand up for what you believe,” he added, while also instructing his flock not to be argumentative or confrontational.

Located in the Point Loma area of San Diego and established in 2000, The Rock is home to 12,000 church attendees and is San Diego’s largest church.

According to Outreach Magazine, The Rock is the fifth fastest growing church in the nation.

    ~Miss Hypocrite
Carrie Prejean, the Miss California contestant, was correct about homosexuality! It is mortal filth
and condemned by God's Word...but Prejean poses semi nude and topless EXPOSING HER
BREASTS and revealing the bottom of her buttocks...then lied about it...and then she parades
her body around in the Miss California Pageant EXPOSING HER PARTIAL BREASTS and
buttocks in a sexual immoral swimsuit before the world!
She is 100% a HYPOCRITE and she does NOT represent Jesus Christ nor a Christian!!
Jesus said it this way, "Anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery
with her in his heart. If your right eye causes you to sin, gouge it out and throw it away. It is better
for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to be thrown into Hell." [Mt. 5:28,29]

I can't believe how intolerant pro-homosexuals can be. Just because you were not able to give an adequate response to my comment does not mean it should be flagged. This reveals the bankruptcy of the act and why it does not belong in the public square.

So true and apparently more is on the way. Her life has been a little less than saint like.

Obviously, a touchy subject this 'freedom of speech' and 'entitlement of rights'. I agree, why was this political question asked by an openly gay man? Hmmmm? Was it because this openly gay man who's dyametrically oppossed to ANY THING or ANY ONE remotely related to fundamental Christianity, sneakily stirred the pot of controversy. Knowing full well this young lady was a Christian, and as Christians we are not to be ashamed of the Gospel we carry. He thinks he was slick by supposely undermining her value. It back fired. She's brave. And, many, many Americans believe she is brave. A martyr? No. The comment about her breast implants I question where that information came from. Now, she's 'exposed' for questionable photos. Okay. The fact is we're all sinners who've fallen to this worldly seduction. The only difference is Christians are sinners who are made 'free' and made 'new' under the sovereign grace of Christ. It is a progressive holiness...this Christian walk.

Thank you ender! Her answer to this question did not decide the pageant, and Perez Hilton is hardly an expert judge! He is a fool, and it sickens me that many on here trot around claiming Perez is supported by the entire gay community. I think he is a loser desperate for fame, but it no talent, but I also don't think Ms. California is the martyr many evangelicals are making her out to be. I think she's merely enjoying a few more minutes in the lime light.

How is this a relevant question in a beauty pageant? In a political contest, yes, but I didn't realize that a pageant winner performed any political functions or was involved in any political issues. I have heard that many of them support various charity organizations, but that is all I have heard of. Granted, I don't watch these shows nor do I keep up with their activities.
And secondly, how did she blow it? By giving her opinion?

All things have a legitimate purpose. A pencil's purpose is to write. Use it as a hammer and it does not work. An iron takes wrinkle out of cloth (normally) Use it to bang your wife's head and you lose a wife. Marriage primary purpose is to bring forth children of God. The secondary purpose is sexual pleasure and if there was no incentive here - no one would do it (kind of sweaty anyway), and the human race would die out. The same with men to man and woman to woman unions - if carried to the ulimate and logical thought, the human race would die out. That's why the Bible uses such terms as "abomination" - unnatural acts.

Believe it or not one of those who wear the crown from a former year attended my church. To be quite honest, I am too embarrassed to look her up on YouTube parading as a contestant in a swim suit that leaves little for the imagination.

But the issue of Prejean's moral views had nothing to do with judgment or prejudice. The question was in reference to states considering homosexual marriage. She answered appropriately and modestly.
