Former Miss Calif. Carrie Prejean Drops Suit

By Lawrence Jones|Christian Post Reporter

Former beauty queen Carrie Prejean and the organization that directs the Miss California USA pageant have dropped their suits against one another and now “wish each other the best in their future endeavors.”

“We are moving forward from the past and looking towards the crowning of two winners and the new look of the upcoming Miss California USA pageant, telecast live on November 22nd,” read an official statement made by K2 Productions and pageant executive director Keith Lewis.

Though little else has been revealed by the two sides, celebrity gossip site TMZ.com claimed that the settlement was made after a lawyer representing the pageant organizer showed Prejean a compromising video of herself that has never been release publicly.

TMZ.com, which claims to have obtained the video months ago, also reported that the pageant organizer is paying around $100,000 to Prejean’s lawyers and publicist and that it is also relieving the Southern California beauty queen of any financial obligations to them – including the $5,200 that was spent for a breast augmentation surgery.

The settlement comes less than a week before the release of Prejean’s book, Still Standing, which conservative publisher Regnery Publishing says will reveal “her side of the story.”

Prejean made headlines after the Miss USA pageant in April, when she famously said she believed marriage should be between a man and a woman in response to a question asked by celebrity gossip blogger Perez Hilton. The comments were believed to have cost Prejean the Miss USA title and sparked a flurry of responses – both positive and negative.

Adding to the media firestorm later were the unauthorized releases of photos showing Prejean in compromising poses, which Miss Universe Organization co-owner Donald Trump later deemed "acceptable, fine, and in some cases ... lovely."

Less than a month after Trump decided to allow Prejean to keep the Miss California USA title, the real estate mogul and pageant officials announced their decision to terminate Prejean, saying it was based “solely on contract violations including Ms. Prejean's unwillingness to make appearances on behalf of the Miss California USA organization.”

Three months later, Prejean filed a lawsuit against pageant officials for libel, slander, and religious discrimination, claiming that there were no contract violations and that the 22-year-old beauty queen has been subject to public ridicule and humiliation and lost out on modeling over the past few months. Prejean has also reportedly suffered anxiety, depression and loss of sleep since her firing.

After Prejean was stripped of her crown, the Miss California organization crowned the pageant’s first runner-up, Tami Farrell, who also said she believes marriage should be between a man and a woman.

K2 Productions and pageant executive director Keith Lewis later responded to Prejean's suit with their own, saying Prejean "might have avoided this legal battle" had she "heeded the guidance of the Gospel of John, who admonished only those who are without sin to cast stones in judgment."

Prejean’s attorney, Charles LiMandri, called the countersuit “just the latest installment in K2 Production’s ongoing smear campaign against Carrie Prejean.”

I love how the boyfriend (they only banged 4 days) has said she is 20 years old in the video and he has 15 to 20 tapes of her
    God has thoroughly punished her!!

God is very happy that this woman will at last be silenced

It is one thing to have a religious opinion, however misguided it may be, but quite another to preach moral values while making sex tapes

Let us pray for her book to bomb

    Bigot Prejean gets busted!!!!

"We have more info on Carrie Prejean's abrupt about-face during the settlement negotiations with Miss California USA lawyers -- when they showed her the X-Rated version of Home Alone ... starring Carrie herself.

When the video started playing, Carrie's first reaction was "that's disgusting" ... and Carrie denied it was her.

Then, the camera angle changed ... and panned up to her face. She was caught red-handed ... so to speak.

Carrie was rendered speechless and immediately began talking with her lawyer. We're told it took about 15 seconds for Carrie to drop her $1 million dollar demand."

15 SECONDS after she was shown to be a porn star!!! So much for this holier than thou bigot.

"She was not fired for her bigoted comments"

Of COURSE she wasn't, Norman, because she never even made any bigoted comments. Duh.
    --------------------------------------------------------------
In Response: Yes she did, set aside your religion and deal with reality for a short time, you can clearly see that she did. The problem with you and those like you, is that you can't separate yourself from your fantasy(religious beliefs) and the reality of the real world.

On Friday, Prejean's attorney, Chuck LiMandri, issued the following statement:

"In my 26 years of practice, I have never dealt with a situation quite like this. We came to a confidential agreement and yet within hours, rumors about what happened in the mediation were flying around the Web and being accepted by news organizations as absolute fact. Carrie and I plan to continue to honor our confidentiality agreement with the other parties. But I can tell you this; many of the rumors circulating are inaccurate and misleading."

See, even this article is inventing something that Prejean's own attorney refutes. So if the sides are not discussing the settlement, then how is a third party (CP) going to prove that this is factual.

There is the TMZ site link, nothing in there about the terms beyond basic info and certainly nothing in there about payments to Prejean from Pageant Officials paying her anything. So where does this nonsense come from, not one of the parties have said anything about money under a settlement and said they are precluded from discussing the details. Her attorney said it quite clearly.

It is quite odd this article has details that weren't released under the terms of the settlement.

"A settlement of both lawsuits was signed in New York Tuesday, but no details were made public. Lawyers and parties for each side were bound by a confidentiality pledge, according to the source."
    http://www.cnn.com/2009/SHOWBIZ/11/04/miss.california.usa.settlement/index.html

Interesting since none of the parties to either suit are allowed to discuss the settlements so NO details from the parties to the suits have been released, so where does this article get their information? According to Prejean's attorney:
On Friday, Prejean's attorney, Chuck LiMandri, issued the following statement:

"In my 26 years of practice, I have never dealt with a situation quite like this. We came to a confidential agreement and yet within hours, rumors about what happened in the mediation were flying around the Web and being accepted by news organizations as absolute fact. Looks like the facts aren't truthful here since the source refutes it!

weekender man-pretty sure stating that some people do not deserve the same righsts as others is bigoted...denying 1,138 federal rights to gay adults who love is each other is unarguably discrimination...

Please explain how denying some people the right to marry and all benefits derived thereof is not bigotry. This should be good!!
(Hint-no using religion please-we are secular nation so God stuff is irelevant)

Regardless, God made her fall on her fake tanned face so she did something that made Him mad!!

Anyone who would have embraced Prejean is not wise. Miss USA is a trashy version of Miss America, which is questionable itself. The gospel is not about promoting media stars and making social icons. We are too quick to lift someone up based on one thing that they did and not testing their character. The result ends up being spiritual abuse of the person involved and of others are given that person as a role model. Everybody today wants an bandwagon to jump on or a hero to follow. Jump on the Jesus bandwagon and follow Christ. "and the things of earth will grow strangely dim in the light of His glory and grace"

Prejean would likely sue TMZ if the "X-Rated version of Home Alone" reports were not true.

tpique-have you been on some other planet?
K2 was NOT talking about her comment on gay marraige-they were talking about the numerous times she slandered K2-saying they lied about how she was behaving, she portaryed them in a negative light, she didn't fulfill her contract, etc
She was not fired for her bigoted comments-Donald Trump let her keep the crown (the new Ms CA is againts gay marriage too!)
    Please keep up!

The best part of this delicious story is the fact that she is a total hypocrite that was embraced by the far right (not wholesome, not truthful). Now she has egg on her face (and between her legs!!)- God works in mysterious ways!!

    Praise God!

These truly are some of the stupidest people the planet has ever produced. When did she ever pass judgment on anyone?? All she said was that she believed in traditional marriage personally! It was her opinion! These thought nazis blew this thing up into a proverbial international incident and are the ones who unleashed a backlash against her!

(Disclaimer: I don't think Miss Prejean should have posed in ANY WAY shape or form for anything. This is unbiblical, HOWEVER, this smear campaign was specifically designed to destroy her because of her stance for traditional marriage by reprobate hypocrites.)

Maybe next time, the right-wing fundamentalists will be a little more careful and choose someone who can hate gays the RIGHT way -- someone with REAL breasts and with NO porn experience.
