The Messiah was not grief stricken and terrified on His way to the cross.

Job was not called to go into enemy territory to minister and possibly face death.

The risk in Afghanistan is death. If these Christians were truly called by God to serve in this mission, then they also knew this risk. This was all the Taliban needed for a cause.

If this is what God has called them to, and their end is Martyrdom, then so be it. Either way, God is to be glorified.

To sacrifice and leave the comfort of their homes to be a shining example of a Christian through doing the work they were doing, aid work, is doing God's will. To be a Christian in Afghanistan is a high risk. I highly doubt they were there sight seeing. I think any one of us would be grief stricken and terrified, even those strong in the faith. Job had faith and was full of terror at his plight. To be a Christian does not mean you stop being human. Anyways, by being an example of a Christian among persecution and hate in Afghanistan is God's cause.

If these Christians are truly there according to God's will, then we should pray that they remain strong during this time, being obediant even unto death.

But if they are not there for God's cause, then I can see why they might be terrified and grief-stricken.

I am glad that there is a response such as this by Muslims. We should remember that the "Taliban" (which is pretty much a blanket term for what the Afghan government calls "enemies of the state), is a minority group and that Muslims generally live peacably other others all over the world.

I pray that the militants will listen to their more reasonable counterparts. I wish there was some way to comfort the hostages and let them know how many people are praying for them. I can only imagine how terrified and grief-sticken they must be.
