12 Saddleback Convictions about Worship

I will say this as tactfully, and as lovingly as I can to all who side with Rick Warren in this ecumenical drive to unite the worlds religeons. Be warned, for this is what the Bible says: God is gracious and merciful, and will forgive those who turn to Him thru Jesus Christ with a repentant heart, and choose to fllow Him. However, He is the Righteous God, and He will judge those who deliberately turned their backs on Him and His Son - Jesus Christ because of their obstinate rebellion and continual rejection of His Son. Read the Bible in context, and then comment on it. We cannot, and should not have felowship with those who claim to be Christians yet don't obey His Word, and HIs Salvation Message. The post modern liberal Emergent church, and it's seeker sensitive counterparts want people to believe that if we all save the environment, and save the whales, the events of the Book of Revelation will not happen, and we can actually prevent it from happening. This similar social gospel which claims that we should make the world a better place, and usher in peace prior to Jesus' second coming, as well as unite with all people of faiths has been adopted by Rick Warren, and has caused whole splits in the Southern Baptist Convention, because he has gone down the Purpose Driven P.E.A.C.E Plan agenda, which by the way is a false doctrine my friends. These movements which align themselves with Bono from U2 and the whole COEXIST crowd have more in common with humanism, one world religeon, and the new age than what the Bible says will transpire. The problem today is that we have so many "Bible teachers" who are more motivational speakers than true shepherd's of the flock of God. No wonder the Body of Christ is split. The Bible talks of a great falling away in the end times. Men will naturally gravitate towards what their "itching ears" want to hear. What more itching do you need than what you hear on TBN, and the like: "find success", "you are the controller of your own destiny" "God will prosper you if you just have faith [and send me your money]". They take Scripture out of context to suit their own desires, and fleece the flock of God for their own matierial gain. OPEN YOUR EYES and STUDY the WORD IN CONTEXT; for Christ will return soon.

I am convinced Jesus will return soon for His Bride, and we are living in the end times brother, and make no mistake about it, the "emergent conversation", the "emergent church", the COEXIST Movement, and BOno from U2 along with the Rick Warrens of the world with their social gospel are creating a "bridge" between Christianity and Eaastern as well as Catholic Mysticism wich is really new age.

Read up more on the social liberalism of the emergent church, and the many seductive false doctrines such as contemplative prayer (which is really eastern mysticism), the bringing back of icons to "feel" God move in people's midsts, you can eve read up on Brian Mclaren's (The man who is credited to being the founder of this liberal church movement) view, as well as many of their leaders views on hell and homosexuality, and you will see they are totally extra biblical. you can find more info on this at www.understandthetimes.org, and www.apprising.org.

The emergent church preaches an extra biblical gospel that is more in line with the new age than it is with Sound Doctrine based Biblical Christianity. Many of them - to mention one - Tony Campolo recently told a young reader how to have a born again experience thru contemplative prayer! Imagine that, the Bible says there is only one way to God and that is Jesus Christ, and here is a so called evangelical preacher (not really evangelical even though he calls himself this) and he is teaching an eastern mystical practice taught in the Roman Catholic Church and the Jessuit Order. Now imagine that, he is adoptig practices from a church that teaches the deification of Mary as being co-redemptrix with Christ. This is heresy my brother, and we need to exhort others in love, and pray for their eyes to be quickly opened to this deception in the church; that they may see this for what it is, and that the Holy Spirit in mercy and grace may convict their hearts to repent and come back.

I find it funny that the Christian Post had an article where Rick Warren was exhorting Christians on not to be divisive, and used some tidbits of Scriptures here and there to prove his topical statement. However, he did not take into light that his "purpose driven" series has caused tremendous splits in the Southern Baptist Convention, as well as other movements of God. In addition, when one stands for sound doctrine in light of the Scriptures and contends earnestly for the faith (everything done in love, in decensy and in order) that in and of itself somehow tends to be bring some division between those who side with the Bible, and those who take some Scriptures out of the Bible and teist them to feed their own agenda's.

Amen and Amen to all who side with the Whole Counsel of God and Sound Dcotrine. Rick Warren is a "seeker-sensitive" pastor and has sided with the liberal/post modern emerging church movements. His methods are man driven regardless of their purposes. He needs to repent of this "social-gospel" and get back into line by line, precept upon precept teaching of the Word of God in context.

I don't see how Justin Martyr (or anyone else's) style of worship should our example today. It seems to me the best example for us is the example we see in the early church in the book of Acts.

We know the early Christians had the OT scriptures, and we also know the NT Gospels and epistles were written long before A.D. 250.

For those of you who constantly give "thumbs down" to express your disproval of the Biblical truth being presented to you. I want you to know that through you, the prophecy of 2nd Timothy 4:3 has been fulfilled. "For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears." Welcome to those times. There are many of you who flood yourselves with messages that ignore sin and righteousness, and teach you how to store up for yourselves treasures on earth. Guys like Rick Warren and Bill Hybels invite successful leaders of businesses and organizations to teach so-called "pastors" how to run their Churches. Christians know that real success in the Church comes from obedience to God and His Word, and things like Holiness and Righteousness. Instead of focusing on these things, guys like Warren seek the world for wisdom. Read 1st Corinthians 1, and even 2 and 3 to see what God says about the world's wisdom. Read Ephesians 5:11 and see what God has to say about our relationship with the unfruitful works of darkness. Read Psalm 1 and tell me if it's acceptable to walk in the counsel of the wicked.

I want to make it clear that I am a nobody. My opinion is worth nothing in regard to the Kingom. That is why I do not tell you my opinion. I tell you what the Word of God says. Even I speak with authority when I speak the Word, because it is not my authority nor my word that I am relaying right here.

Bottom line: The Bible declares Rick Warren is a false teacher, because it condemns his methods and practices.

The Bible tells us that " We are not to be partakers of other men's sin" I wonder if those of the Christian Post are Partakers of of the false doctrine taught by rick warren.? Just wondering.

"No correct style of worship?"

Justin Martyr describes what the earliest Christians did in their "worship service" in 155 A.D.; it's a matter of historical record:
"On the day we call the day of the sun, all who dwell in the city or country gather in the same place.
The memoirs of the apostles and the writings of the prophets are read, as much as time permits.
When the reader has finished, he who presides over those gathered admonishes and challenges them to imitate these beautiful things.
Then we all rise together and offer prayers* for ourselves . . .and for all others, wherever they may be, so that we may be found righteous by our life and actions, and faithful to the commandments, so as to obtain eternal salvation.
When the prayers are concluded we exchange the kiss.
Then someone brings bread and a cup of water and wine mixed together to him who presides over the brethren.
He takes them and offers praise and glory to the Father of the universe, through the name of the Son and of the Holy Spirit and for a considerable time he gives thanks (in Greek: eucharistian) that we have been judged worthy of these gifts.
When he has concluded the prayers and thanksgivings, all present give voice to an acclamation by saying: 'Amen.'
When he who presides has given thanks and the people have responded, those whom we call deacons give to those present the "eucharisted" bread, wine and water and take them to those who are absent.

It's a matter of historical record what the earliest Christians did, 250 years before we even had a Bible.

I haven't heard the first two, but I fully agree with you about Comfort and Wilkerson. To me, they embody the scripture I mentioned below, with Biblical excellence. Another who has also impressed me is Jim Cymbala. I would LOVE to see articles by those guys at this site.

I think Warren makes some good points here. At the same time, I remember the words of Jesus: "being wise as serpents AND harmless as doves". I don't believe that Biblical balance is possible without a continuous dependence on the wisdom of God, without a continuous infilling of the Holy Spirit who enables us to speak the truth in love.

Pastors like Rick Warren and Joel Osteen pride themselves on being the kind of preacher that doesn't offend anyone and is accepted by anyone. They preach as if to tickle the ears of their congregations, putting more emphasis on humor and encouraging than on preaching truth. Because of this, men speak well of them. Pastors like Mark Cahill, Paul Washer, Ray Comfort, and David Wilkerson preach truth, yet you won't find their articles on a people pleasing site liek this one. Beware of teachers like Rick Warren. They may seem great, but if you truly compare their methods to the Bible it will be easy to see they are false teachers. Rick Warren is a humanist, and the destruction satan has caused through his blindness has affected many churches and families. Meanwhile, he hides his destructive teachings behind phrases like "break through methods" and "thinking outside of the box." God have mercy on his soul when he learns that the 'box' that he thinks outside of is none other than Biblical Doctrine.
