I will now take distance to this "Warren"-topic and take it the way 1. Timothy 6 and especially 7 tells it.
There is nothing in arguing about a man like him. We see thing differenly but, pls be carefull not to condemn followers, just because they see things not like you and have a different view on scripture.
Keep your eyes open, check what people preach, and keep distance to those who deny Jesus and his word, but be wise how to react on real false teaching.
Gods truth is not our truth, he knows what is beyond what we do and say and think and he knows his people by name.

I believe that things are not put the right way.
We are called to help people, phisically and spiritually. There´s no doubt about that, is there?
Rick uses his social status and the church he is leading to do that.
He does not unite with external programmes, but he takes influencive people and integrates them for the job he things he has to do. There is nothing wrong about that.
There´s a chance in it. Those people hear about his motivation and hear the gospel, they can accept and reject it personally but they bring the attention of the crowds to what Christians have to do.
I do not see anything against the scripture in what Rick teaches.
He uses up to date economical wisdom to professionalise the work in church, there is nothing wrong about that, just because it is knowledge that has truth.
If I am ill, I also go to a doctor (maybe even a non christian one) to seek help. His wisdom also comes from human science about health. In addition I pray for God help and strength.
If I open up a christian mission programm like "adopt a child" then I also have to deal with non christians. I have to collect money and combine power behind me, even non christian money and even non christian power BUT they support Christs work on earth. If Rick supportet a non christian Aids campain with his church things would be different, but the action comes from saddleback - do you get the point?
WE are called to do what we can do as perfect as we can by Gods grace, that God can show his strength and mighty through us.
Rick is a true believer using what he was given to do what he is called to do. He makes mistakes and because he is public everyone sees and argues about him.
My friends I really think you are wrong. Take the doctors example and think over your motives when critizinsing him.
He is not pro world, not pro Rick, he is pro creation, pro life, and most of all pro Christ and now I will stop talking pro Rick, for the truth will reveal itself very soon.
We take the responsibilty for every word we say before God.

Mk8:34: I must say amen and amen.
mcfbc:
I never said that Bono or Clinton were the antichrist. I was only pointing out the facts. If Rick Warren claims to be a teacher of the whole counsel of God, he will not unite with those who would like to see a one world religion and sponsor COEXIST (Bono), or bring on a woman who is clearly pro abortion and has done many things to destroy what is true and what is right here in America (Hillary). mcfbc, if you so choose to follow in their footsteps, that is something you wilLhave to choose for yourself. I can't make up your mind for you. If you agree with the emergent church and it's liberal/progressive/post modern stance on the Word and Christianity, then you and you alone will have to answer to God for not wanting to open your ears, your eyes, and your heart to the whole counsel of God. The emergent seeker frinedly church preaches both a watered down form of gospel, and false teaching as well. It is heresy my dear friend. Study the Word; not just the parts you like, but read the parts you don't like as well, and if you are born again, then ask God to reveal the Word to you by His Holy Spirit.
We are trully in the end times, and whether Bono, and/or Clinton will be participants in pushing for the "global peace" and one world religeon that the antichrist will be forcing upon the world, I do not know, but the Bible warns that "global peace" will not occur trully on this earth until Christ returns and detroys His enemy's, and the antichrist, and the false prophet and then He will rule and reign, and true peace will be on the earth. Do not be deceived. I pray that God will somehow open your eyes to His Word, and that He would give you discernment about these things.

The word Christ comes from the word Messiah or the Annointed. In my spirit I do not bear any witness or annointing coming from either Clinton or Bono no matter how loud the appause they are receiving.. His Spirit bears witness with our spirit that we are his children. The sheep do not hear the voice of the stranger but the Shephard.

Just a reminder to all those blasting Warren for giving Clinton a forum. Warren also invited all the major republican candidates to speak. But they turned him down. If we are in the end times, is Warren the anti-christ? Or is it Bono?

I am convinced Jesus will return soon for His Bride, and we are living in the end times brother, and make no mistake about it, the "emergent conversation", the "emergent church", the COEXIST Movement, and BOno from U2 along with the Rick Warrens of the world with their social gospel are creating a "bridge" between Christianity and Eaastern as well as Catholic Mysticism wich is really new age.
Read up more on the social liberalism of the emergent church, and the many seductive false doctrines such as contemplative prayer (which is really eastern mysticism), the bringing back of icons to "feel" God move in people's midsts, you can eve read up on Brian Mclaren's (The man who is credited to being the founder of this liberal church movement) view, as well as many of their leaders views on hell and homosexuality, and you will see they are totally extra biblical. you can find more info on this at www.understandthetimes.org, and www.apprising.org.
The emergent church preaches an extra biblical gospel that is more in line with the new age than it is with Sound Doctrine based Biblical Christianity. Many of them - to mention one - Tony Campolo recently told a young reader how to have a born again experience thru contemplative prayer! Imagine that, the Bible says there is only one way to God and that is Jesus Christ, and here is a so called evangelical preacher (not really evangelical even though he calls himself this) and he is teaching an eastern mystical practice taught in the Roman Catholic Church and the Jessuit Order. Now imagine that, he is adoptig practices from a church that teaches the deification of Mary as being co-redemptrix with Christ. This is heresy my brother, and we need to exhort others in love, and pray for their eyes to be quickly opened to this deception in the church; that they may see this for what it is, and that the Holy Spirit in mercy and grace may convict their hearts to repent and come back.

will say this as tactfully, and as lovingly as I can to all who side with Rick Warren in this ecumenical drive to unite the worlds religeons. Be warned, for this is what the Bible says: God is gracious and merciful, and will forgive those who turn to Him thru Jesus Christ with a repentant heart, and choose to fllow Him. However, He is the Righteous God, and He will judge those who deliberately turned their backs on Him and His Son - Jesus Christ because of their obstinate rebellion and continual rejection of His Son. Read the Bible in context, and then comment on it. We cannot, and should not have felowship with those who claim to be Christians yet don't obey His Word, and HIs Salvation Message. The post modern liberal Emergent church, and it's seeker sensitive counterparts want people to believe that if we all save the environment, and save the whales, the events of the Book of Revelation will not happen, and we can actually prevent it from happening. This similar social gospel which claims that we should make the world a better place, and usher in peace prior to Jesus' second coming, as well as unite with all people of faiths has been adopted by Rick Warren, and has caused whole splits in the Southern Baptist Convention, because he has gone down the Purpose Driven P.E.A.C.E Plan agenda, which by the way is a false doctrine my friends. These movements which align themselves with Bono from U2 and the whole COEXIST crowd have more in common with humanism, one world religeon, and the new age than what the Bible says will transpire. The problem today is that we have so many "Bible teachers" who are more motivational speakers than true shepherd's of the flock of God. No wonder the Body of Christ is split. The Bible talks of a great falling away in the end times. Men will naturally gravitate towards what their "itching ears" want to hear. What more itching do you need than what you hear on TBN, and the like: "find success", "you are the controller of your own destiny" "God will prosper you if you just have faith [and send me your money]". They take Scripture out of context to suit their own desires, and fleece the flock of God for their own matierial gain. OPEN YOUR EYES and STUDY the WORD IN CONTEXT; for Christ will return soon.

It seems that sharing a stage with Rick Warren is becoming comparable to sharing a stage with Oprah Winfrey.
They both deliver a sizeable and accepting audience.

I agree with mcfbc’s comment below.
My blood is already running cold from the current overall agenda that many evangelicals have. Especially with all the hyperbole, over simplification, misinformation, and out-right lies that so many of their political wingnuts use. It’s good to see other evangelicals broadening their horizons, willing to work with both parties on a broad spectrum of issues, and not just be lackeys for the Republican Party agenda.

Here is some proof of Hillary's abortion stance which is not only immoral, but can be considered murder biblically speaking.
Article: A Look Back at Senator Hillary Clinton's January 25, 2005 Speech on "Reproductive Rights"
Besides, when has God ever exhorted a pastor to work along side unbelievers in getting His work done. The Bible teaches us to preach the Gospel and live our lives in such a way that our very lives are te living breathing Gospel of Christ being shown in our way of life. It nowhere exhort us to pull in an ecumenical drive of politicians, pro-abortion groups, pro-gay groups and secular media to try to fill up a mega church. No, in fact, if you want to see a model for church growth - it's not "purpose Driven" for that matter; rather it is found in the Book of Acts. God added to their numbers daily; not Rick Waren, not the emerging church movement, not some new church growth program that is new and improved, not some other book for 7.99 a copy if your church purchases more than 100 copies specifically to teach a man's agenda on "purpose Driven" or "man Driven" or what not for a small study group, not some TV evangelist who sells dolls with themself and their wife with a small glass jar with "jerusalem holy water and a show that is so spectacular with glitze and glamour, not where wordly politicians get screen play, and few "evangelicals" or in this case i should say a few "ecumenicals" choose to allow this "social gospel arena to take place.

Mr. Warren is part of the emerging church of deceit just like Brian Mclaren, Rob Bell, Doug Pagitt, and many other's too numerous to mention. This moement is creating a bridge to Roman Catholicism and "Orthodox Biblical Christianity" If you want to learn more on the damage this liberal/post modern movement is doing to the work of our Lord Christ Jesus, then go to www.understandtetimes.org, and www.apprising.org. I hope this helps give you a idea, that this is just another sign of the latter part of the end times where the Bible speaks of false teachers.

yes, I agree wholeheartedly on showing Christ-like compassion to those in need by helping their physical needs, but we need to be careful not to use wordly ways of doing so; including letting Hillary Rhodam Clinton an enemy of the Cross of Christ to speak at this "so called Saddleback evangelical church". The church needs to influence the world; not the world influence the church. What many of these movements are doing is showing humanitarian compassion, but not sharing the Good News of Jesus Christ. In this case, the Warrens have endorsed an ecumenical forum of democrats and republicans (believers and non believers alike) (light and darkness working together) trying to figure out a human solution to a clearly spiritual problem.
If you don't address the root cause of AIDS, then you will mearly put a bandade on the disease, and not address the true issues behind why it spreads. I do believe in educating peple on AIDS, but I believe if people were just to repent of their sins, and give their hearts to Jesus Christ as Lord and as Savior, and if they would read their Bibles more and see what God has to say about homosexuality, bi-sexuality, bestiality, pedophilia, adultery, fornication, pornography, drug use, and other forms of sex sex outside the confines of God's order of marriage between one man and one woman, then we would't be in such a rut financially as well as emotionally about the issue. I say there are many missionary organizations that preach the Gospel Truth out there and while their preaching and teaching the Truth, they then address the Physical sicknesses of the people. One of them is Gospel for Asia. There are others, but we need to remember that this "Purpose Driven" Agenda is more man driven than Jesus Driven, and we must be on the lookout for a very real enemy called Satan who disguises himself as an angel of light and will try to deceive even the elect if that were possible. Jesus Christ is the true healer of our hearts and our behaviors and our sins, and every other twisted thing in this world if we only come and confess to Him our sins He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and cleanse us of all unrighteousness.

Here we go again. Conservative evangelicals like Beam don't get it. Evangelicalism is being redefined, thank God. Politically, its' not just about abortion and the family. Evangelicals are demanding that other issues be dealt with as well. Aids, torture, and poverty both here and abroad are all becoming bigger issues for evangelicals. We are no longer buying what the Dobson's and Falwell's have been preaching. There are more issues that God is concerned about and we as Christians need to wake up. We have tremendous opportunities to be witnesses for Christ in so many ways.
I find Beam's last sentence to be very amusing. He talks about his concerns for a confused Christian electorate. No, Dr. Bean, we are not confused, we know exactly what we are doing. We are following the whole gospel, the great commision and the great commandment.
