Top Christian music artists who gathered for a retreat in Scotland this week to compose songs for charity are surprised yet exhilarated that they have written almost double the number of songs they initially set as a goal.
It's good for musicians to pool their creative gifts in a heroic effort to help the less fortunate. My disappointment with this article is that there is no mention of the name of the One who should be getting all the glory! JESUS!!! It is unfortunate that when "Christian" artists get together or do something "for the poor" that the name of Jesus is supposed to be "understood" as the reason for it all. It really comes off as more of a "members only" gathering where there is no real need in proclaiming JESUS as the prime motivation, the source of the talents, and the one to whom all glory and honor will go, not only in heaven some day...but today, here, now! I wish the "Christian" industry was a lot more Christian and a lot less industry. We must all remember to give JESUS CHRIST the props He so greatly deserves, and stop pretending that just because we call ourselves Christian that everyone will naturally think of JESUS when we do something. They don't. JESUS is the name above all names...the only name under heaven given among men whereby we must be save...the name at which every knee shall bow and every tongue shall confess that JESUS CHRIST IS LORD, to the glory of God! How many times have you spoken His name this year (not counting Sundays or Wednesdays)? The total will tell you something about your witness for His name. Let's all commit to speaking, singing, and praying the name JESUS many times each day of this new year!

Great way to use music for the benefit of the poor. More of this should be done for other causes... the unborn, the persecuted, the elderly, the disabled, missions, etc.
