Despite extensive searching of the Gospels I am unable to find any teaching of Christ's on Darwin's origin of species. Also I found nothing in the gospels where Christ seeks to prove the existence of God. It seems to me that not only is the pursuit of "scientific" evidence for God (ID) a enormous waste of time and inherently doomed to failure (since Science by definition deals with NATURAL phenomena and NATURAL causes and God by definition is supernatural) it is also fully inconsistent with the manner and teachings of Christ. One even wonders seriously if this vanity is what Christ spoke of when he discusses the blaspheming of the Holy Spirit. Is it not the Spirit of god living within us as C.S. Lewis so well describes in "Miracles" which informs us of the truth of Christss revelation. Is not chasing after other "proofs" of god and his covenant a repudiation of this new spirit which is to live within us.
There are so many strong and clear evidences of the perfect and unique truth of Christianity and a perfect creator, that those who remain skeptical were said by the Apostle Peter to be "willingly ignorant" (II Peter 3:5), and by the Apostle Paul to be "without excuse" (Romans 1:20). The great king David concluded that only "The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God" (Psalm 53:1), and wise king Solomon asserted that, "The fear of the Lord" is the very "beginning of knowledge" and "wisdom" (Proverbs 1:7; 9:10).
God is only as mighty as we let him be and we expect him to be - as much as this earth and our lifes are concerned.
If we don´t expect him to be allmighty and able to change us and things, he wont act.
I have no problems with science and the bible. Word for Word God made this earth and men.
No room for Microevolution and big bang stories, in my world and my picture of God.
Up to now there is no proof, just hints and enough antiproof for evolution and I´m not alone with this belief, just a minority.
My God is allmighty and absolutely able to create things we don´t understand and the devil is absolutely able to mess all of Gods Creation as much as we let him.
Not the US is in trouble, the whole world is. Look at health, food, money, war, environment, behaviour - look where ever you want and check what the bible says about the times we live in. WE left God be a nice man of fiction and undereducated subjects, but this will not let him disappear.
He will come and show who he is and what he is able to do. People open your eyes.
Mens wisdom is mens foolishness. What´s right today is wrong tomorrow, the only constancy can be found in the bible over hundrets of years revealed and messed up be clever people.
smithson.veritas, I agreed with what you said up until you posited this unfavorable remark: Creationism is the act of insulting God by rejecting the use of the gift of Intellect which He gave us. While it may be that God has chosen to be a non-conformist often to the detriment of religious pride, including the possibility of utilizing some form of evolution in creation, it does not follow that creationism is ruled out scientifically. Nor has Neo-Darwinism explained the problems postulated by the I.D. school. Nevertheless, thanks for stretching our thinking.
The rejection of science and scientific method is part of why America has been falling behind other countries. There is no contradiction in both believing in God and believing that Evolution is a real phenomena. Some people would like to literally interpret the bible and ignore scientific evidence. Perhaps they should also teach that the world is flat and that the earth is the center of the solar system. God created four forces: Magentisim, gravity, weak force and strong force. Science is the study of God's creation. Creationsim is the act of iunsulting God by rejecting the use of the gift of Intellect which He gave us.
Being a reasonable atheist, let me propose something to you all. My former pastor (Lutheran preacher) once said that a blink of an eye to God is a thousand years to us. Keeping that in mind, how many blinks of an eye (as a measurement of time) are there in six or seven days? Hundreds of thousands.
stars: "For those who do want to find out how things came to be the way they are: Why do you want to know unless you are trying to find out why you are here? What are you really looking for?"
I want to know because I find the fields of cosmology and quantum mechanics interesting and exciting. Theologians and philosophers have been debating about the nature of the universe for centuries with little to show for it. Science has gotten us very far in answering questions about the nature of the universe and will in time show us how the universe came to be.
The theory of evolution doesn't address the creation of life, those who, regardless their faith who continue to suggest is does so, are willing to lie to bolster their unprovable beliefs. They refer to the same book that was referred to in prosecuting those who dare suggest the Earth is not flat or the Earth circles the Sun, not the Sun circles the Earth.
Thank you for sharing your testimony. I always like to hear how God saves people and what He does in their life. May God continue to bless you as you submit to His will for your life.
I always enjoy reading your posts. Keep up the good work for Jesus, the Author and Finisher of our faith.
Thank you Star2 for your testimony! I sure do understand it as the Lord God gave me a testimony as well. I grew up in foster homes and had no use for God or people for that matter. I was so a real mess. I tried everything, drugs, booze, different religions, and even suicide, but nothing worked, I had this huge whole inside of me and I could find no peace.
I tried going to church again and I just couldn't feel what others were feeling, I would see people with such joy on their faces, and yet their lives were not pain free! I wanted to understand that!
I had to know if God were real and so at the end of myself one day, I told Him, if He were real to show me that He was and WOW!!!
Did He ever answer me, HE took the heart of stone that was inside of me and gave me HIS heart and He put a new spirit within me and my life totally changed. HE changes lives! JESUS is the answer. Not religion, but I discovered when I began to learn to have a personal relationship with Him, talking with Him (prayer) confessing my sin to Him and asking for His forgiveness.
He taught me how to forgive others in my life (and that was a tough one) but HE showed me the inside of me and how rotten and evil I was in my old self. When I surrendered my life to Him, everything began to change, and it is an ongoing process of learning to receive God's love and what a difference to know my life has meaning and purpose.
I did nothing to change my life, everything I tried made my life worse; when I surrendered my life to Jesus Christ, it was the best moment of my life! HIS LOVE IS AMAZING! And HE died for us to have a new life; evolution is the biggest lie from the pit of Hell.
God The Creator (our Father) BREATHED HIS HOLY BREATH INTO US, HIS CHILDREN! Let that fact sink into your hearts and stand amazed at our GREAT GOD! HE IS LORD! JESUS!

I appreciate your comments but I have a rebuttal. I have spent time in many christian circles. Be they baptist, methodist, church of christ, church of god, catholic, and they all invoke the devil as to why people don't/won't accept the obvious truth of their interpretation. They all would cherry pick certain verses to support their beliefs and then when I spent time in another church they would cherry pick others to support theirs. I do not believe in ghosts, demons, succubi, incubbi, esp, homeopathy, bigfoot, ufo's, dowsing rods, angels, etc. I believed in several of these when I was younger but when I undertook to hold up all these to the rigors of what constitutes scientific evidence I found them to fall short. And sadly even the bible upon reflection fell short of being convincing. I say sadly becasue I wanted to believe so much. My entire family still believes and the majority of my friends. I hope you get a chance to read more of Francis Collins. Though you seem to disagree theologically he's a very fascinating person. Who's to say god doesn't operate that way. Didn't he speak to people in dreams. I hope you consider that the experiences you have that convince you that the god you worship is the true and living god is the same experiences that people of other religions use to confirm their beliefs. The mormons refer to that indwelling of the holy spirit as the burning of the bosom. I think I remembered that correctly. That that is a physical sign that what they are doing is true and verified. I think one of the biggest things that lead me to question my faith was trying to put myself in other peoples shoes. What do they see when they see the world or when they see me for that matter. Am I a baptist becasue I was raised in the south? Would I be a mormon if raised in utah? A hindu if in india? A muslim if in iran? I would be just as convinced and look at and pity how the others had been deceived.
I would agree with the figures you quote concerning fully formed proteins etc...just "coming" together. I think though that the problem with your approach is that it starts with the complex not with the simple, you start with the end result not the beginning, in science it is always wise to start simply and then build up to complexity, this is the point where the Dover trial fell apart. A good example is the universe which starts very simple and then over time complexity (due to gravity etc..) arises. Kind regards, steve
Re:Hello Star2, I'm intrigued. In particle physics the 4 forces that govern the universe ( strong, weak, electro weak , and gravity) have bosons that transmit those forces. Of those the graviton that transmits gravity is the elusive one that has not been observed in particle colliders. My question is, if it has not been observed is it " not scientific" to consider it exists even though the math's etc.. and work on the other forces compells us to believe that it must exist. It's a fair question as no one (yet) has observed it. Regards Steve
At least there is mathematics that suggests that there are graitons that transmits gravity. Maybe scientists will confirm their existence in the lab and maybe not. Maybe, as their understanding advances their mathematics may show that they don't exist. But at least there is some reason to believe they exist at this point.
However, for the possiblity that evolution is true there is no proof. Evolutionists have no proof that one life form evolved into an entirely different life form. The can see micro evolution happen but they have never observed nor will they ever observe macro evolution. The laws of genetics will never allow it.
Mathematically it is impossible for life to emerge from a common gene pool.
Let us look at the odds of one protein molecule being created by chance. I have heard that a single protein molecule is made up of it 20 ammino acids. If that is the case, then the odds that a single protein molecule can form from a random combination of the ammino acids is 1 in n!
1 in 20! is 1 in 2,432,902,008,176,640,000 or approximatelly 1 in 2.4 x 10^18. There is a 4.2 x 10^-17 % chance that the 20 ammino acids will come together to form a single protein molecule. That is, for all practical purposes, zero.
As complex even the simplest form of life is, the odds that it can happen by chance is so astronomically small that the chance of that happening is zero.
Evolution just cannot produce the diverse form of life we see today. It is mathematically impossible.
In regard to supernatural experiences; there are the real (from the Holy Spirit) and there are the counterfeit (from the unholy spirit aka the devil). It is hard sometimes to know. Any experience we have or hear someone else has we must measure it up against what the Word of God says before we either accept it or reject it.
The Word of God says that behind every idol is a demon. Demons (devils) have limited supernatural power. The magicians in Pharaoh's court could duplicate a few of the miracles that God did through Moses. Still to this day, the devil can dupulicate some of the miracles that God does. So, we must be very careful in how we receive or believe in the experiences we have or someone else has.
God does not have people who have passed on come back from the dead. Those who see loved ones that have passed on are not really seeing them but are seeing what are known as familar spirits, demons who impersonate the deceased loved one.
Many religions of the world will report seeing the Virgin Mary, their deceased love one or some one else they have known to have passed on. These religions or these people are steeped in idol worship. God will allow these demon to answer the person's prayer. Thus, these people will experience answered prayer; many will be healed, delivered, or will have supernatural experiences. But their experiences are not from the true and living God.
Re:Francis Collins the famous christian and geneticist and head of the human genome project says seeing a waterfall frozen into 3 sections was a sign from god that convinced him of the truth of christianity.
This is not how God operates. God moves on man through the Holy Spirit. God uses Him to draw you to Jesus, and convicts you of sin, righteousness, and judgment. Like the thief on the cross, in order to be saved, you must be convicted of the truth that you are a sinner worthy of eternal damnation, and that Jesus is the Son of God who took God's judgment for your sins by dying on the cross for you , and that He rose from the dead so that you could be set free from sin. If you believe this from your heart and you want the free gift of forgiveness of sin and eternal life, then turn to God and ask God to forgive you of your sins, come live in your heart, and be the Lord of your life. If you do, then God will come live in your heart. He will supernaturally change you. He will give you a new nature that is after His own. He will bring healing to your heart. He will manifest Himself to you as you live your life in obedience to Him.
Sorry it took me so long to get back to the forum. I work on the ESBWR. It's the next generation of the BWR reactor after the ABWR. It's not top secret, more like proprietary. I have met many people that said that god had spoken to them directly. My father says that jesus appeared to him personally and told him everything would be alright and gave him a hug. Seriously. I've met people who say they have seen their long dead sister descend from heaven and talk to them. These stories impressed me as a young man and reinforced my belief. Later I met more from around the world that had confirmatory revelations such as these that confirmed their religions. I was told that the devil was trying to deceive me with these other people that had other revelations that contradicted with my interpretation of god. These included other christian denominations that had different doctrines of salvation, baptism, etc. I'm about to tell you a response I hear in a lot of atheist circles and I don't mean it to be insulting. When people say that they had a personal experience or miracle that say convinced them of their interpretation of god basically what they are saying is that other peoples revelations and miracles weren't convincing or believable enough to convince them. I am open to an experience but it has to be clear cut. Francis Collins the famous christian and geneticist and head of the human genome project says seeing a waterfall frozen into 3 sections was a sign from god that convinced him of the truth of christianity. Would he have thought this seeing 3 birds, 3 trees, 2 bad guys standing around 1 good guy? I don't know. He also accepts evolution and works with it on a daily basis. I'm sure your experiences were convincing for you as are other experiences are convincing for their religions. I think it's important that we don't read into it what we want to read into it.
I think science, whether it be physics, chemistry, biology should be taught without any reference to the origin of the universe, the earth, or life. Every science course I have taken has never addressed this issue. One can become a good or even a great scientist without it. To gain knowledge and the understanding of the laws that govern each science discipline does not require speculation into how things came to be unless of course you want to focus your thoughts on the origin of all things whether it be evoultion, creationism, or some combination of the two. Any scientific investigation into the origins of the universe, the earth, and life requires faith that the theory you hold dear is true whether it be evolution, creationism, or some combination of the two.
For those who do want to find out how things came to be the way they are: Why do you want to know unless you are trying to find out why you are here? What are you really looking for?
The problem I have with creationism being taught in school is which one do you teach? There's got to be hundreds of creationism stories....Egyptian, American Indian (and their many flavors), Inca, Aztec, Islam, Hindu...etc.
Re:I decided I wanted more from life and I wouldn't let loneliness get the best of me. I had already come to the point that I realized all religions were false and I couldn't pretend to believe just becasue everyone was believing... I made a concerted effort to be more open about my disbelief
I was always wondering what your degrees were in. I suppose your work is classified, maybe not, but how are they improving the design of nuclear reactors to make them a second generation?
I no longer work for NASA. I started in 1978 and I left in 1988. I worked on the Space Shuttle Simulator. My group dealt with simulating the real world systems connect to the Remote Manipulator Arm. We modeled the RMS and all its supporting subsystems as well as the dynamics of the payloads while in the cargo bay, while attached to the RMS, and while as a free-flyer.
I left NASA because I wanted to pursue something else in life. I have served the Lord as a missionary for many years, about 27 from the beginning of my serious walk with God.
You don't understand my testimony. I did nothing to change my life around. God did all the changing as I submited to His will for my life. Unless you have really experienced that you can't possibly understand that.
I have seen God save people that I witnessed to through His power. I have seen Him heal supernaturally people, and animals through my prayers. I have witnessed miracles that He had done in response to my prayers. I have experienced Him personally in my life. He has healed me supernaturally and has set me free from sin as I gave it to Him. He has manisfested Himself to me. He is truly who He says He is.
God loves you. I hope you will one day you willl find the love He has for you.
I read your response and I'm glad you turned your life around. I admit that in my twenties I spent I had an on again off again drinking problem. Dealt with loneliness and other problems that almost got me. I decided I wanted more from life and I wouldn't let loneliness get the best of me. I had already come to the point that I realized all religions were false and I couldn't pretend to believe just becasue everyone was believing. I'm not saying other people are pretending to believe. I don't think that. I just think they are mistaken. I made a concerted effort to be more open about my disbelief and wanted to meet people that were freethinkers like myself. I started my second degree whcih is electrical engineering and my first is in physics. I graduated with very good grades and now I work for a company developing the next generation of nuclear reactors. I enjoy my job, love my family, have several freethought friends and we have meetings once a month for lectures and or to do charity. I was even a tutor in physics and math while working on my EE degree. I've met several people like you that say they got inspiration and motivation from the faith they have in their god. Be it Jesus, Yahweh, Allah,Vishnu, or the god of Mormonism, etc. I'm happy they turned their lives around but I don't think their faith validates their belief system. We all have things that motivate us sometimes as nebulous as they seem. I remember the look in my mother's eye from when I about got killed in a car accident. (I wasn't driving) It still moves me today though it was weveral years ago. I know many people of many faiths. There is actually a guy that sits beside me here at work named Muhammed. I take a break sometimes and check news websites to see what's going on in the world. And someitimes I comment here and there especially after I've just turned in a calculation or some other report. I bet your job is fascinating and I congratulate you and all you did to make it happen.
I am a true believer in the Lord Jesus Christ. He has redeemed me from sin and has changed my life. He is not a philosophical thought. He is real and I have found Him to be who He says He is in the Word of God. Nothing will ever convince me that God is not who He say He is.
Here is my testimony.
Part 1:
I was raised in the Baptist Church. When I was 8 yrs old God gave me a revelation of the reality of hell. I went forward during invitation time that Sunday and asked Jesus to save me.
I didn't make Jesus the Lord of my life though. As a result, I lived a life of sin. These sins included but were not limited to lying, stealing, cheating, cussing, unforgiveness, hatred, and etc.
Over time God allowed my sin to destroy my life. My sin brought death to my relationships with people, to the use of my abilities, and to my psychological well being.
I was in my 4th graduate school. My first term was not good; it was like it had been in the previous graduate schools I had attended and flunked out of. I was worried about being able to succeed. I knew that if I failed out of this school that I would have no hope of getting a better paying job. All I could hope for was to go back to my $3/hr drafting job, and live at home with my mother. My future seemed bleek.
In my dorm room there was a Gideon Bible. Out of boredom I picked it up and began to flip thru the pages looking for a place to read. I couldn't read anywhere until I came to Matthew 6:25-33.
I read the passage. Jesus was saying why do you worry about what you are going to wear and what you are going to eat. He said that we were more valuable to God then the birds whom he feeds and the lilies whom he beautifully adorns. Then he said "But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you." (Matt 6:33).
I didn't understand a word I read. My mind was numb and blank. But when I read Matt 6:33 for some reason I wanted to read it twice. Afterwards, the Lord spoke to me and said, "Pat, put Me first in you life and I will take care of what you are worried about." He said that twice to me just like I read Matt 6:33 twice. Then, with some anger in His voice, He said, "You have been trying to run your life apart from Me." Right after that it hit me in my spirit. My mind cleared out and I knew that God was real, and that I had sinned against God and God alone. God showed me how my sin destroyed my life. Afterwards, I began to pray. I said, "Yes, Lord, you are right, I have been running my life apart from you and I have made a mess out of it." I repeated to Him how I understood how my sin destroyed my life. Then I prayed "I will put you first in my life. I will go to Church and I will tithe."
I went home for the holidays. I returned to school in Jan for the winter term. My first Sunday back, when I woke up I decided to go to Church because I had promised God that I would go. When I got my pay check at the end of the month, I decided to tithe because I had promised God that I would.. After this, the very next day, my life changed. God blessed me in my finances by giving me a tutoring job. He made me a better student and a better teacher. He changed my study habits. He set me free from being entertained by ungodly TV. He made me an outgoing person. I went to Church Sunday morning, Sun night , and Wed nights too. I wanted to be in the house of God. I can truly say that I was not the same person that I was before I came back to God and kept my commitment to Him.
God took me from being a failure to being a success. I graduated from school and got a good paying job with a NASA contractor.
God is real. I have found His Word to be trustworthy. I place my faith in the living God who has changed my life.
I accept the Word of God by faith. I do not understand everything in it but I accept that it is truth and I seek Him to give me understanding.
I have experienced God to be who He says He is. I can truly say that He is a miracle working God.
Physicists have observed the appearance and annihilation of virtual particles. These appear randomly and after a short time annihilate one another. They appear spontaneoulsy in vacuum probabalistically. Good short article in wikipedia on it with a link toways they are detected at the bottom that leads to a scientif american article.
There are many apsects to a true believer. A true believer is someone who will not accept any evidence to the contrary of their beliefs or opinions. Often employs a conspiratorial or dark invisible force opposing them that relies heavily on the fact that it can't be disproved. Relies heavily on a persecution syndrome. Thereby recalling martyred hero's to support the "truth" of their beliefs. Christianity has Jesus, Stephen, some disciples, Saul before he became Paul, how christians are opposed sometimes violently in other parts of the world. Islam has Hussein. Mormonism has Joseph Smith. etc. The last thing that reminds me of a true believer is the indoctrination and inculcating the believer with a sense that their entire being i.e. happiness, contentedness, companionship, depends entirely upon accepting the rules laid forth by the authority ane without those utter loneliness, despair, unhappiness awaits. This is just my definition. I'm sure others have theirs and I don't mean it to be comprehensive. I don't mean to imply that all Christians, Mormons, Muslims employ this. They certainly don't. I've known many kind people of all of these religions. But there are those that heap on the indoctrination in spades and employ these tactics as much as possible. Even today, though I've been a non-believer for over 10 years the concept of hell and eternal torture for ever is terrifying.

Re:A "Creator-initiated origin of life" is certainly valid. BUT only as a philosophical concept. Definitely NOT a scientific one.
Some would have you believe a "chance-initiated origin of life' is a valid one. It is mere speculation, though, for no one has ever observed it either in nature or in the lab. It definetly is not scientific; there is not evidence for it. The laws of genetics will never allow. Mircro evolution will never produce macro evolution.
Your belief in 'chance-initiated origin of life' is merely a philosophical thought and it takes a tremondous amount of faith to believe that something can happen by chance when the probability of that happening is zero. If it could, that's 'magic'.
I am glad to see you back because I would like to ask you about something.
The last time I spoke with you you were sharing you said the following:
i consider myself an educated person. i have two science degrees though neither is in biology. When i discovered science it opened my eyes from the narrow religious world view i was raised in and opened it to the universe. I realize that I may be wrong but I do my best to arrive at the best solution possible using as many sources as I can. sometimes i do come off as flippant and for that i apologize. i spent so many years as a true believer and spent so many years depressed because of my isolation as a freethinker that when i hear the things repeated i heard so much as a child and young adult i sometimes jump the gun in expressing my viewpoint. i guess it happens to us all.
Re:sometimes i do come off as flippant and for that i apologize.
you claim evolution is a farce? nothing in biology makes sense except in the light of evolution. -dobzhansky Is astronomy also a farce since astronomers can demonstrate that the earth orbits the sun because the bible says that the sun and planets orbit the earth. How about medicine? We now have an explanation for epilepsy and it has nothing to do with demons. The reason you focus on evolution is that it implies that original sin is without merit and therfore makes the crucifixion/resurrection and i.e. all that your faith rests on unnecessary. The farce is you refuse to consider that you might be wrong and find confirmation by people disagreeing with you since the bible said there would be people that just wouldn't agree. Much like most other religions. I ask myself everyday what if I am wrong. And do my best to base what i believe and accept on the best available evidence and not just on the fact i happened to be born in a particular place and time.

Icons of Evolution Explained
The Miller-Urey Experiment
Many modern scientists believe that living cells arose from chemical building-blocks that formed on the early Earth. In 1953, Stanley Miller used an electric spark to simulate lightning in a mixture of gasses thought to resemble the Earth's primitive atmosphere, and produced some of the chemical building-blocks of life. The experiment is pictured in many biology textbooks to show that scientists now understand an important early step in the origin of life. But scientists determined over a decade ago that the Earth's primitive atmosphere was probably nothing like the mixture of gasses Miller used, and now acknowledge that the origin of life's building-blocks remains unexplained.
Darwin's Tree of Life
Darwin believed that all living things are modified descendants of one or a few original forms. Most biology textbooks show the branching-tree pattern that would result from such "descent with modification," and tell students that it is so thoroughly confirmed by the fossil and molecular evidence that it may be called a "scientific fact." But the fossil record of the "Cambrian explosion" shows that the major groups of animals appeared at about the same time -- a "lawn" rather than a tree; and recent molecular evidence suggests a "tangled thicket" instead of the branching pattern of Darwin's tree of life.
Homology in Vertebrate Limbs
A bat's wing, a porpoise's flipper, a horse's leg, and a human hand all contain bones that are structurally similar. Before Darwin, biologists called this "homology," and considered it evidence for a common design, but Darwin attributed it to a common ancestor. Modern Darwinists have re-defined homology as similarity due to common ancestry, but now homology cannot serve as evidence for common ancestry without arguing in a circle. Many biology textbooks use circular reasoning anyway: We know that two features are homologous because they come from a common ancestor, and we know they come from a common ancestor because they're homologous.

Haeckel's Embryos
Darwin believed that all animals with backbones (including humans) evolved from fish-like ancestors, and he thought the best evidence for this was that the early embryos of amphibians, reptiles, birds and mammals are similar to fish embryos. Many biology textbooks carry drawings (originally by Ernst Haeckel) to illustrate this, and claim that human embryos possess "gill slits." But embryologists have known for over a century that such drawings are false, and that early embryos of amphibians, reptiles, birds and mammals do NOT resemble fish. Human embryos pass through a stage when they have wrinkles in their necks, but they never have "gill slits."
Archaeopteryx - The Missing Link
Darwin believed that modern species were linked in the past by innumerable transitional forms, but when he published his theory in 1859 those transitional links were missing. The discovery of Archaeopteryx, a fossil bird with reptile-like teeth, helped to persuade many people that Darwin's theory was true, and many biology textbooks still feature Archaeopteryx as the "missing link" between reptiles and birds. Yet paleontologists no longer believe that Archaeopteryx was the ancestor of modern birds, and its own ancestors are the subject of heated controversy. The "missing link" between reptiles and birds, it seems, is still missing.
Peppered Moths
Darwin had no direct evidence for natural selection, the principal mechanism in his theory of evolution. Experiments in the 1950s seemed to provide the missing evidence by showing that light-colored peppered moths were more easily seen and eaten by predatory birds on pollution-darkened tree trunks, leaving mostly dark-colored moths to survive and reproduce. Many biology textbooks carry photographs of light and dark peppered moths on tree trunks to illustrate this famous story. Yet biologists have known for over a decade that the story has problems. Among other things, peppered moths don't normally rest on tree trunks, and the textbook photographs have been staged.
Darwin's Finches
Many biology textbooks claim that finches on the Galapagos Islands, whose beak sizes are correlated with the foods they eat, helped to convince Darwin of evolution by natural selection in 1835. But the legend of "Darwin's finches" was actually contrived a century later. Some textbooks also tell students that a slight increase in the average size of finch beaks, observed after a severe drought in the 1970s, shows how natural selection could produce a new species in only two hundred years. But the textbooks fail to mention that the change was reversed when the rains returned, and no net evolution occurred.

In response to danny: I'm sorry I wasn't more clear in my comment. What I mean is simply this: Darwinism doesn't seem to deal with the fundamental question of where all the "stuff" of the universe comes from.
Where did the comet(s) come from that supposedly started the process of life? Where did all the building blocks of life come from?
This, in my opinion, is the biggest weakness of Darwinism. The Darwinist won't address this question. He'll only say that nobody knows.
But that leaves him with the two choices of my previous comment.
The fundamental flaw with the theory of evolution is its avoidance of The Question: i.e., where did life come from? How did life originate?
The Darwinist will piously say that the theory of evolution doesnt really concern itself with this. He might say that the building blocks of life were in the universe and then one day a bolt of lightening struck (or something along those lines) and the elements got together and one thing led to another and here we are.
But that begs the question. Where did the elements come from? Where did the lightning bolt come from? Where did the stuff that makes up life come from?
As a Darwinist, you either must believe (a) that the universe and the elements therein are eternal or (b) something came out of nothing.
1. Evolution was invented by Anaximander 2,500 years ago as an extension of the Gaea, Mother Earth, religion.
2. The entire universe, viable and nonviable alike, has always devolved, the exact opposite and excluder of evolved.
3. Every event in this universe is a devolutional event because some of the converted energy is lost to future events.
It bothers me that evolution is never properly defined; it is a general term that includes many areas of study. It often refers to natural selection, adaptation, and speciation. These are topics that both the creationist and evolutionist accept as valid observable science.
Both sides of the argument often confuse the discussion. Evolutionists will show evidence for the natural selection and then conclude that it proves the entirety of evolution. On the other hand, amateur creationists will incorrectly criticize the whole of evolution.
The key thing to understand is that a creationist only criticizes one aspect of evolution. The issue is the development of new advanced species that is said to take place within evolution. This aspect of evolution is not observable science and remains in the realm of conjecture, according to the creationist. In a world where things tend to go from order to disorder, it goes against the grain. They dont believe it makes sense.
(I know I said that before)
There are so many strong and clear evidences of the perfect and unique truth of Christianity and a perfect creator, that those who remain skeptical were said by the Apostle Peter to be "willingly ignorant" (II Peter 3:5), and by the Apostle Paul to be "without excuse" (Romans 1:20).

Thanks S2 for your comments.

Glad to hear from you again.

TheHuron137
Part 2

A "Creator-initiated origin of life" is certainly valid. BUT only as a philosophical concept. Definitely NOT a scientific one.

I realize that I may be wrong but I do my best to arrive at the best solution possible using as many sources as I can. sometimes i do come off as flippant and for that i apologize. i spent so many years as a true believer and spent so many years depressed because of my isolation as a freethinker that when i hear the things repeated i heard so much as a child and young adult i sometimes jump the gun in expressing my viewpoint. i guess it happens to us all.

you claim evolution is a farce? nothing in biology makes sense except in the light of evolution.
JackCP23,
Why would Darwin, a biologist, try to explain physics?
Evolution is a farce. It is sad that many are deceived by it.

Both (a) and (b) are logically absurd.
I much rather believe in a Creator.
Biology eliminates evolution.

Topekan, which story in the bible are you talking about?
