Danny, also in regard to your comment about Jesus being dead and not coming back, how do you know this?

You're trying to make an absolute claim from silence. To defend an absolute negative, you must be all-knowing which we know you are not. So, to say that Jesus is dead and not coming back you would either have to be lying or you would have to be a god. If you're lying, then no one here need believe you, if you're a god then according to your own implication (Jesus isn't God and is therefore dead) you don't exist and no one here need listen to you.

Your absolute claim crumbles in around you my friend. I can only assume you're just frustrated and spoke amiss.

Danny, perhaps you haven't heard brother. Yes, the Lord wants us to be good stewards of His creation, but our love for His creation should never overstep our knowledge that He is in control and that future generations as were past generations are in His hands and not in ours.

He has already said "the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up."

I also would say to you that if you consider yourself an atheist how can you defend your desire to save the planet? If mankind is nothing more than time + chance what difference does it make if future generations are preserved or not? If evolution is true, we will all go extinct and the process will only start over again. Why such concern with self-preservation? It's futile. You're trying to orchestrate and control something you can't control (just short of using force to impose control).

'What does it profit a man to gain the whole world yet lose his own soul?"

Imagine that- a militant atheist on a Christian site. Tell me, oh wise Danny, knower of the real "truth"- Why does classical history support the claims of resurrection? Oh, and please do bring up the "Jesus Seminar," but don't forget they threw out any and all material containing the reference to Jesus as being the Son of God. Then, you can also explain to me that if these people witnessed what happened, these writers of the discarded, how should they or would they have described Him? Then, perhaps, you can enlighten all of us feeble minded Christians as to why tens of thousands of witnesses were willing to die rather than simply renounce Him, or bow in worship before the Emperor- including the Apostles. No man dies for a known lie. While you're at it, maybe you can explain why the prophecies in the Bible are so accurate that it was alleged that they were written after the fact? An allegation that no longer holds water, due to recent discoveries, by the way. So, oh wise Danny, please, enlighten.

“America needs our biblical outrage. We as a nation will face a judgment from God if we don’t do this,” said Cizik, who has spearheaded the green evangelical movement at the anger of some leaders in his circle. Cizik’s critics argue that he is distracting attention away from more important issues such as abortion and gay rights.

It's interesting that some Christians think sticking their noses into other people's private lives is more important than protecting our planet for future generations.

Topekan said "It's amazing that these 'evangelicals' believe that mere men can have such a catastrophic influence on God's creation. Do they believe that it will cause the world to end before the scheduled second coming of Jesus?"

    It's been scheduled? When?

Are you trying to justify the trashing of our planet because the world's going to end anyway? That's a disgusting and dangerous belief you got there Topekan.

Here's a little reality lesson. Earth will continue to support life until our sun burns out 5 billion years from now. Humans could still be living on earth for billions of years if and only if they treat this planet with respect.

Oh, and by the way, your dead Jesus isn't coming back. You have been brainwashed beyond any hope if you think a completely decomposed dead person could ever live again.

Isn't it interesting, this wholesale dismissal and discrediting of "green" evangelical's? Quoting Scripture is fine, but if memory serves, there's a blurb in Genesis about Adam being a steward for Creation. Can man destroy this planet's environment? Absolutely- in fact, if one believes in the Eternal God, one could say He predicted we would, and sent the Word via His prophets. We normally call the most prominent and relevant prophecies the Book of Revek=lations. Again, going from an insomniac memory, I recall droughts and famine being predicted, as well as war and disease. Hmmm...
Basically, do not be so arrogant as to assume we stewards of Creation cannot foul it by lack of tending it the proper care. It could very well be this is part of The Plan, and concurrently could be a lesson to what happens when we disobey the very least of God's Law. Saying enviromentalism is akin to communism is rather foolish- communism regards nothing but the state.

It's amazing that these "evangelicals" believe that mere men can have such a catastrophic influence on God's creation. Do they believe that it will cause the world to end before the scheduled second coming of Jesus? The ludicrous nature of their assertions suggest that they are either ignorant of, or they disregard, biblical truth.

In all the time I have listened to Richard Cizik when he was at the National Association of Evangelicals, he never broke a sweat over the slaughter of 50 million human children in the womb in this land. There was no righteous anger, there were no conferences and task forces formed to end the brutal, legalized extermination of preborn children that took place on his watch. Now my generation is having to see him work himself into a lather over polar ice caps melting. That, he says, should make us righteously angry because that affects US. Sorry, Cizik, my righteous indignation will be saved for the victims who died while you big evangelical leaders slept. What righteous indignation I have left is reserved for men like Richard and his tree hugging followers. When we've stopped the blood flowing from abortion clinics, I'll worry about the polar ice caps and not a minute before.

What is Global Warming? Is the sun shining too much?

Does this happen in cycles? Will we eventually have Global Cooling?

The Book of Revelations says the sun will be darkened and the moon will turn blood red. I'm sure it will get mighty cold on planet earth.

Nice story, except for the first line(!) - this was hardly the "first ever" Creation Care conference! Boise Vineyard has been doing annual conferences on the topic for the last two years - it's third comes up this August. Au Sable Institute in Michigan has been holding the banner high for 25 years and has sponsored dozens of events over that quarter of a century. Creation Care is new for too many people, but it's really not new. It would be good if those reporting on events like this would give some basic historical perspective...

Cizik is led by Satan's message from Genisis 3; "For you shall be as God." The NEA has gone totally liberal since disgraced Haggard and Cizik have taken reign. The NEA has taken the wayward [Marxist] path of the NCC and WCC and forsaken God. It is up to man to save ourselves. Intersting how going "green ' now means going "red" a generation ago.
