It is abundant and often free in the United States, but for more than a billion people around the globe it is a rare and precious commodity on which life hangs.

Well slack, Ask the tens of thousands of Iraql family about the "progress" in Iraq, they have lost their family members, their homes, their jobs, their country. If you really believe all in Iraq and Afghanistan are going well, then you only source of news is the bush & cheney, they are the only ones saying things are improving. Afghanistan is slipping away and the killing and destruction in Iraq is still going on. The media has gotten tired of reporting on it, Americans are more concerned about the poor health of the economy now, for which we have the Iraq war is responsible for to a large degree. Time will tell, but its highly likely the violence in Iraq will pick up back up at some point to pre "surge" levels and beyong. There are just to many disparate elements in the country for it not to be. Of course I could very well be wrong, but the lessons of history suggest otherwise. Iraq is not like post WW2 Germany and Japan - largely homogeneous people, Iraq is more like Yugoslavia- different people forced together. When the strong-man glue is gone, there is trouble.

"The reason i sound like a "broken record" as you say, its because Americans dont want to know the truth and I am here to hopefully convince some Americans our errors in ME foreign policy. Americans prefer the fairy-tale version of the US invasion of Iraq."

The reason it sounds like broken record is because it is the same liberal propaganda the media foust upon us every day, you see very little in the way of truth coming from the media more of a "x amount of soldiers died today" not anything about the success that we are achieving over there or in afganistan, because whether you want to believe it or not we are making progress over there. I am not niave and believe the Government on everything, they have made there mistakes but I believe the negativity towards this war is more drawn by the media then any real mismanagment by the government.

1man "Are you typing through a broken record. Why do you hate America so bad?"

One of the most important responsibilities of a citizen is to be critical of the government. I am not going to be a cheerleader for US foreign policies that are ethically and morally wrong. An unquestioning and uncritical citizenry leads to debacles such as Iraq and Vietnam. Had the US not invaded Iraq and diluted its efforts and resources, Afghanistan might be going much better and the US would have more international help in Afghanistan today. Instead, the US is caught up in two quagmires that are not going well.

Instead of your one-liner, suppose you point out specifically where I am wrong on the US decades meddling in the ME and the problems it has created?

The reason i sound like a "broken record" as you say, its because Americans dont want to know the truth and I am here to hopefully convince some Americans our errors in ME foreign policy. Americans prefer the fairy-tale version of the US invasion of Iraq.

michales "I thought oil (BLACK GOLD) is the most important element for life. that's why US is in IRAQ."

Not just Iraq but in the Middle East as whole. The US and Europe carved up, conquered and controlled the ME for about 90 years now to control OIL. 9-11 and terrorism coming from the ME are the result of decades of Western Imperialism in the ME.. Americans dont want to admit to it. Americans want to believe in the fairy-tale that the US military machine came in to "liberate" the Iraqi's. I'm not sure how much more "liberation" the Iraqi's can take.
