...and if the church that you are attending is headed down the wrong path, don't be afraid to search for a new fellowship! It's becoming harder and harder to find a good bible believing, bible teaching church that will not compromise the word of God in an effort to cozy up to the world and it's so-called wisdom.
I walked out a baptist fellowship 3 years ago after sitting through I don't know how many sermons that were increasingly watered-down, seeker-sensitive, relavant-to-your-life type of trash. The straw that broke the camel's back was when we received a "special" invitation to "those led of God" within the church to take part in an intensive year long weekly "study".
Imagine my surprise when I was told that I need not bring my bible to the study! What's more that my spouse and I could not attend the study together as it would be "counter-productive" to us being free to be completely honest in "encounter sessions" with our group.
After perusing the material and discovering that most of the contributors to the material were well known representatives of humanistic, secular and psychological thought - and that scripture quotes were few and far between in the "study" material - and that the goal of 'study" was to initiate us into "a whole new paradigm" or way of thinking about Christ....and seemed more centered on writing letters of forgiveness to "our inner child" and other such psychobabble - we roundly rejected the course!
Although we wrote a letter of concern to our pastor about the course, he defended it!!! and the response we were given was essentially the left foot of fellowship right out the door.
It was heart wrenching to lose contact with so many friends, but at the same time we knew that for the spiritual health of our own lives that we just couldn't subject ourselves to such non-biblical teachings anymore.
Thank God we found a sound, bible teaching, uncompromising church. It's a small fellowship and we don't have a big fancy building and lots of programs, but we are a close-knit group that loves the Lord and loves each other!
Like the old Petra song goes; "garbage in, garbage out!" be careful what you allow to enter your mind!

I agree, if the PCUSA is doing things that are wrong, and raising Christians that are misguided and unbiblical, then it's GREAT for people to leave them (I don't know anything really about the PCUSA).

I feel that many so-called "Christians" give the rest of us a bad reputation - that many very liberal denominations trick people into thinking they're Christians when they have no belief in scripture or Jesus. So I pray and beg God to diminish those denominations, so as not to lead tons of people astray and confuse Christianity for outsiders.

Regardless of denominations that we may be in I believe it is right to seperate from an unbiblical church, we should use discernment and compare what a church is preaching/permitting to the word of GOD. If that church / association is sinning against GOD and won't repent head for the door lest you be led astray!
