Stephen Prothero, author of Religious Literacy, spoke to college students Monday during an event seeking to promote religious tolerance by raising cross-religion awareness.
I agree with pgcfriend ... also Muslims may have outnumbered the Catholics but Christianity ( Protestant ) is growing worldwide ... particurlary in Central and South America , Asia , Africa , some places in Russia and Eastern Europe ...

From both the religious and cultural standpoints, this could be interesting....If nothing else, teaching about the cultural traditions of each religion would help a whole lot with the ideas of understanding and compassion. I would love for those who share my cultural associations with Christianity to understand that when they claim to be "Christian" more often than not they are referring to their cultural background, not their religious faith. There is a huge difference in this country between claiming Christ as Lord and Savior vs. Claiming Christian traditions and ethics...this seems to be where we get into trouble. Maybe putting a cultural context around different faiths would help remove volitility surrounding the "tolerance" movement.

Whenever I hear the word 'tolerance' relating to religion I immediately equate it to persecution against Christians. In pretty much every instance this comes up in denominations the 'tolerant' group turn against the Bible believers when the so-called tolerant ones take control. I hope this has the intended result but I highly doubt it.
