JHS, the people who paid for those churches were our ancestors, and they were members of the Episcopal Church in this country, and NOT the Province of the Southern Cone! By the way, the 'massive' loss in numbers from this issue is less than 7%, a blip on the screen compared to other divisive issues within the Church. The Baptists had a bigger fight over their new Covenant, but it just isn't as 'sexy' an issue for some.
Defendant Schofield's attempt to divert the Diocese of San Joaquin itself and its property for the use and benefit of another church in violation of the Episcopal Church's Constitution and Canons breached his fiduciary duties as the Bishop and ecclesiastical authority of the Diocese of San Joaquin," the complaint said.
What a joke, the people paid for these chuches and they should able able to take them, the reason they want the property is to sell it to make up for the massive losses in numbers of members.
Anyone is free to leave the Episcopal Church, but you cannot take its property with you when you go. This is a long established tradition in respect of our forebears who have built up this church in this country for the last 400 years.
