I think this web site is a great way of spreading the Gosple, sharing news and providing fellowship. Churchs would be smart to notify congregations about this place and putting up links.
I see that my remarks were misconstrued. There are many churches that do not have the funds for this technology and should they attempt "to catch up with the Jones'", it could possibly cause economic hardship for itself in the long run.
True Rev. Bill....
In todays church world, here in the US, the Word of God doesn't seem to be enough to hold people's attention.
I receive updates from a missionary group once in a while---letters filed with praise to God for how the people they minister to in Africa are over-joyed at just hearing the Word of God preached to them! No special technology is to be had so none is used...but it doesn't matter to these people.
Rev Bill, No doubt that you may be a great preacher of God Word but I bet you don't actually believe what you just wrote about being anti-technology. I bet you use light bulbs & a PA system that Jesus didn't have. I also bet you preach from a Bible printed with a printing press on paper & not hand written by leather scrolls by scribes. Jesus had none of these modern technologies. Hello, you used a computer to post your thoughts. There is nothing holy about being anti technology. It is just a matter a Christ centered use of technology. I pray that the Lord continues to bless your preaching from his Word but why not use technology if it helps to spread the Gospel?
It's good for the church to use whatever technology is available to reach the widest audience possible; it would be foolish not to. Within our churches, we need large screens and other IT paraphernalia for greater audio and visual effectiveness. These are simply teaching aids and should never replace the preacher.
So you are saying that because something was not available in Christ's time it shouldn't be used today. Since Paul didn't use cars to get from city to city should we stop driving and travel by foot when we are going to preach? What about musical instruments. The use of those in the church has changed greatly over the years. Should we stick with only what was used in the first century? I agree that we need to preach the Word, but we also need to go where the audience is. If the internet is where the world is, then we need to be there.
Amen Rev Bill
In the past, churches did not have the technologies that are being espoused today. All that was and is needed is a minister that preaches what the Bible says. Nothing else is needed.
