The Rev. Jeremiah Wright, former pastor to Barack Obama, said that publicizing sound bites of sermons in which he condemned U.S. policies was "unfair" and "devious," and done by people who know nothing about his church, according to excerpts of a PBS interview released Thursday.

Comments
Wright's rantings are anti-Christian. His church is outside the realm of Bible-based teachings. But this should come as no surprise given the fact that he had an openly-gay choir director -Donlad Young - for more than a decade. However, Young was murdered in December 2007.

to kc95819 -
pat robertson said that statement regarding hugo chavez on aug 23 2005 & it did not even have anything to do with imprisoning priest. it had to do with oil - AGAIN. and it means that the war in
iraq has been costly that is why he mention 'we don't need another $200 billion' to have another one.
and what about his other statement regarding the stroke of ariel sharon which on jan 2006, he said that god smote him bec of he is dividing the land of israel. what kind of statement is that coming from a 'christian'
like the pharisees & experts in the law - they condemn the blind, sick, & suffering bec of sin.
and how come when a right wing republican pastor/televangelist would say such thing, you christians will not go up in arms while if a 'left' pastor would 'bash' america you christians would cast the first stone. it is not a christian or biblical perspective but a political party of who is less evil of the two.
Mike are you aware Chavez has taken over the church in Venazuala and taken Priests into custody? Thats what comunists do.
to kc95819 - what about this on from pat robertson stating
' we have the ability to take him (chavez) out, & I think the time has come that we exercise that ability. we don't need another $200 billlion war to GET RID OF ONE, you know, strong arm dictator. It is a whole a lot easier to have some covert operation to the job & then get it over with"
is the liberal media spinning what he said?
to kc95819 - misquoute & spin by the liberal media?
jerry falwell - qoute
I really believe that the pagans, abortionist, feminists gays & the lesbians who are actively trying to make an alternative lifestyle, the ACLU people of the america way - all of them try to secularize america- I POINT THE FINGER IN THEIR FACE & SAY "YOU LET THIS HAPPEN.'
PAT ROBERTSON - qoute
well I totally concur & problem is we have adopted that agenda at the highest level of our gov't ..
in other words, jerry falwell said in a nutshell - bec. of the gays, feminists, abortionist
god damned (no protection, cursed) america'
the pharisees were like that, they would accuse everybody else, then label those who do not agree with them, then CYA when their sins are exposed & rebuked.
they even called christ illigitimate, blasphemous, law breaker, etc etc.
and don't you christians have this equation :
obey god = blessings;
DISOBEY GOD = CURSE.
you think that the world should kneel down to their knees & worship you.
Rev. Wright should be "Flagged as inappropriate"

mike,
Rev Wright was taking the the Lords name in vain.
Trying to spin it with citing a statement mistake by someone else is typical. The liberal media love to misquote Robertson.
to daniel paul - so what your are saying is to tolerate the sins of people in the name of 'no condemnation in christ'. why did christ rebuke the pharisees & experts in the law. bec they were self-righteous & they are putting heavy loads on people shoulder, they are shutting the door of heaven & they are an obstacle in the spreading of the gospel.
what is the difference bet when pat robertson said that liberals, gays & abortionist were the cause of 911 & what wright said about the sins of america.
to kc95819 - reverend wright is not using god's name in vain. he is saying that god is cursing (damning) america for the sins it has committed. put it in context. like what pat robertson said - god is removing his protection bec. of the liberals, gays, & abortionist- he is damning (cursing) america.
to chris333 - why? bec. don't they flag you when they don't like the 'rebuke' you tell them.
Let's be careful here and "reason together".
"The Holy Spirit would never lead a true Christian minister to preach "God Damn America" in any context, much less a taped public sermon with children involved. "
First, I don't agree with his statement and am not defending such a statement. However, there were many times things like this were said by God through the prophets of old. My problem with the statement is "there is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus". It is the gospel of Jesus Christ that will end the problems the Rev is addressing. God disciplines his own as a rule. If you want people to change and do what is right you must start at the cross. "Damning America" as it were isn't solving anything. Preaching forgiveness and new life in Christ is what will solve the problem.
In interesting word in "vain". People stuck on a sinking ship cry out in "vain". It means "having no real value". Preaching damnnation instead of salvation has no real value as it is salvation changes us into people who can love their neighbor as themselves.
I watched the interview on PBS this evening and thought it was excellent..
YOU HAVE TO SAY WHAT THEY WANT TO HEAR. just how the Pharisee were. when christ rebuked them, THE PHARISEES WERE INSULTED & you have to say whay they want to hear.
his sermons were incredibly blown out of context. why doesnt anyone criticize hagee's racist comments?
I was very SHOCKED by this man's tone and language, as someone claiming to be a pastor, and to say those kind things in the sanctuary, wow! Some of the things he said you'd be more likely to hear from a non-believer at a bar or pub, not in a church, good grief.
It's quite sad...to me, he just comes across as a very bitter person....maybe there's some deep seeded resentment or anger in his heart over something that he needs to deal with?
@Jesusis1
Perhaps you should take the time to watch the entire sermon instead of the 10 seconds that were broadcast incessantly over a two week period. Then you'll understand the context. And after that, you should look for the interview on Fox News with Ambassador Edward Peck. Rev. Wright's sermon was inspired by the things he said.
"I felt it was unfair. I felt it was unjust. I felt it was untrue. I felt for those who were doing that were doing it for some very devious reasons," he said.
I would imagine that the statements Rev Wright has made against America were made with the same intentions. Now it is all coming back to him.
This is what we have allowed to happen at the pulpit.
