Holy Sweat: 3 Reasons Church Leaders Should Get in Shape

In college I had 8% bodyfat and could hang with the best of them when it came to push ups, sit ups and the like. But then something strange happened. I went into ministry full time.

5 Reasons Why Christians Struggle to Evangelize

There are many Christians who, down deep inside, want to share their faith but they honestly don't know what to say. Sadly, there are also many who call themselves Christians but they just don't care about the lost.

Back to School: 3 Crucial Reminders for Christian Teens

You are not just at school to go to school. As a Christian you are at school to go on a mission trip. Every teen-filled table in the school cafeteria is a mission field that needs reached with the good news of Jesus.

    Don't Slap Christ's Wife

The church is the wife of Christ. He sacrificed his own life to redeem her. He is returning someday to claim her. According to Revelation 19:9 we all will celebrate the "Wedding supper of the Lamb" with Jesus someday and what an awesome occasion that will be! So, in the meantime, don't slap, mock or treat the bride of Christ with disrespect.

What Humpty Dumpty Can Teach Us About Sexual Purity

Although this strange and ancient nursery rhyme may not seem relevant today, it does contain a few helpful lessons for us, especially as we seek to stay pure in an increasingly sexualized culture of compromise.

The Aurora Movie Massacre and the Real Dark Knight

Along with the rest of America I'm shocked and saddened at the mass shootings that took place in Aurora, Colorado at this morning's 12:01 am premiere of "Dark Knight Rising" the latest and last of the Batman trilogy.

Just a Thought ... About Sin

Sin rips and ravages. Like a sinister and dangerous predator it tricks us and then pounces. From burning lust to to juicy gossip to gloating pride sin draws us in through portals of hormones, bitterness and arrogance before killing us with the consequences.

    Drop the J Bomb

All too often all too many churches subtly imply that a life well lived is enough. They imply that if you're a good neighbor, co-worker, student or friend then, at some point, others will ask what makes you so different.

The Bigfoot of the Bible (aka 'The Sinner's Prayer')

The Sinner's Prayer is the Bigfoot of the Bible, talked about a lot, but nowhere to be found. This yakking Yeti doesn't even leave a fake footprint. Saying a prayer is not believing in Christ, believing in Christ is believing in Christ.

    Gospelize!

"Gospelize"…I love that word! I like it better than the word evangelize. Gospelize's verbal twin has too much baggage and too many misconceptions. Gospelize has the same destination as the word evangelize but it's sporting nicer (not necessarily newer) shoes to cover her beautiful feet.

The Skinny on Fasting (the Elusive Spiritual Discipline That I Avoid)

Over the years I think I have subconsciously tried to assign fasting to the Old Testament rituals that were (or should have been anyway) nailed to the cross. Nevermind the fact that fasting is mentioned several times in the New Testament.

    Relentlessly Relational

We should long to see everyone in our circle of influence (and outside of it for that matter) receive the forgiveness, life and hope of Jesus.

10 Reasons Why Christians Should Focus More on the Gospel Than Politics

Politics change. The gospel doesn't. The gospel will transform our politics, not vice versa.
