Genesis and the Big Bang Revisited

The subject of the creation of the universe and everything that implies is divided into two camps, the scientific and the religious. Most Christians believe the book of Genesis describes how God created the universe, not in allegorical terms, but is specific in the details provided. Most scientists see it as simply a matter of science and would rather religion stay out of the issue. How about both camps recognizing that both groups are seeking the same thing, THE TRUTH.

Searching for "Proof" of the Soul

Two of the greatest mysteries of man: Does the soul exist and what is time?  Are they related? I didn't think so until I began writing a paper on time and in the process of attempting to explain what time is I realized that I had stumbled onto evidence of the existence of the 'soul', or an entity that is separate from the physical body that we think of as "us". The argument for that hypothes...

Is Earth AGAIN The Center of The Universe?

I came across a news item in the USA Today website, dated August 18, that got my attention. It concerns "Dark Energy", the mysterious force that seems to be speeding up the expansion of the universe, that no one can find or explain.

"Let There Be Light", Why God Didn't Create Evil

I have always been fascinated by the subject of "light".  It was the first "substance" created by God. It is mysterious in that, science cannot explain what it is, except to say that it consists of a massless particle/wave called a photon, and always travels at the same speed. Einstein built his General Theory of Relativity around it, and his formula, E=MC2 contains it in the form of C, the speed of light.

What Was The Forbidden Tree?

What Was The Forbidden Tree? By Allen Epling   The book of Genesis describes the most traumatic event in man's history in chapter 3, when Adam and Eve ate of the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil. This is the moment when Man fell from God's grace and was told he would have to survive in the world outside of Eden on his own, without God's help. Many questions have come up over the centuri...

Was Adam the First Man?

WAS ADAM THE FIRST MAN? By Allen Epling               Bible scholars and theologians call him Adam and scientists and evolutionists call him "Australopithecus". The question remains, who was the first man?  The answer depends on who you ask, but it goes further than that. Its possible that there is an explanation that allows both...

Can You Believe in Evolution and Be a Christian?

Can You Believe in Evolution and be a Christian? By Allen Epling   If you want to get a Fundamentalist Christian riled up, just mention that you believe in Evolution. Immediately he will assume that: 1. you're not a Christian, 2. you don't' believe in God, and 3. you believe that all life is an accident of nature. How is it then that many faithful, believing Christians do believe in Evolut...

Does String Theory Confirm the Bible?

Does String Theory Confirm the Bible? By Allen Epling   While much is being said about Creationism Vs Evolution, and the debate goes on concerning who is right and what should be taught in our schools, a quiet revolution has been taking place in an area of science that is seldom discussed in public. Yet the theories being advanced from leading scientists about this subject suggest that man...

The Six Days of Creation: Fact or Fiction?

The Six Days of Creation By Allen Epling       Much discussion has been made of the description in Genesis of all things being made by God in 6 days. For 3 millennia the standard view of this was that the time period was 6 earthly days. It has only been in the last 20 to 30 years that serious consideration has been given to alternative theories of what those passages mea...

Why are Christians Afraid to Ask Questions?

Why Are Christians Afraid To Ask Questions? By Allen Epling I recently wrote a blog asking "Is the book of Genesis accurate? I received a comment that basically said, "How can we have a relationship with God if we doubt His Word?" The writer of the comment took my question as a statement of doubt. I was simply trying to get Christians to think about their faith. Something is wrong in our fai...

The Validity of the Bible

The Validity of the Bible: Part One By Allen Epling        While working on a book that I was writing, I felt the need for an example to use that would confirm the validity of the Bible. I had always felt that there were truths in the book of Genesis that were discernable yet were not obvious. I found the following verse to be the perfect example that I was looking for....

The Two Creations

This Weeks Topic: The Two Creations The debate between the academic Left and the Fundamentalist Right has reached a pinnacle in our schools and in the media concerning how man came to be created. Recently a school superintendent in Texas was not hired back because he supported the Creationist view. This argument has polarized our society to the point that we sometimes see neighbor against neighb...
