GoToMass » ....the only thing heroic that I can see is that he was elected a senate seat because his republican counterpart had a seedy lifestyle aired during election and so withdrew. "the American Dream" I believe sometimes trumps common sense.
"Ads proclaiming, "Why believe in a god? Just be good for goodness' sake,"
Isn't the number 1 problem with humanists is the moral nature of faith imposing that thing called a conscience on them actually causing them to not like to be "good". What is this definition of "goodnes they're triing to perpetrate?

"So lets get this straight, since Bush has been president millions of American jobs have gone to China ,India etc, and now he is worried about religious freedom, well since his friends have made billions already in china, why don't they just worship the dollar." Lets see in eight years of a bush presidency millions of jobs have gone to China....lets see in a demo cratic controlled congress the economy went to pot, from the result of a democratic president from before, just for kickers obama wants to raise capital gains taxes on the people who provide jobs for us making it harder to let us keep our jobs.

I don't know why this is even an issue, people leave their country because it's horrible to enter our country because were blessed and prosperous here. The problem isn't immigrants it's illegal immigrants that don't become assimilated to society. I see immigrants coming here and not learning english, not teaching their children english, not paying taxes, (a blessing for them, not for us). Plain and simple they have broken the law and those who help them brake the law should be fined for hiring them without reporting it. Plus by not going through the proper channels millions of people have come here without immunizations against things that we put out of this country long ago. We are setting ourselves up for a collapse of our society and culture.

iraneus: I've stated all along that I don't take the Bible literally. Anyway, you quoted Genesis, we are under a new covenant now. . . . is this a literal new covenant or just a figuratively new one?

This is something, I've always said that the homosexual agenda will not stop until they not only get christians to stop saying that their lifestyle is wrong but to endorse it.
And how they wont allow him to use natural laws to create things, isn't this an oxymoron?
I am not, of course, trying to claim that Darwin’s legacy has been entirely positive. Just as atrocities have been committed in the name of Jesus and Christianity, so have evils been perpetrated in the name of Darwin and evolution. There will always be those who distort the work of great men and women to advance their own shortsighted and self-centered ends. .....the problem with this outlook is that those who committed the otrocities in the name of Jesus were doing it not following the teachings of Christ where as those who committed atrocities "in the name of Darwin" did so because the did ascribe value to the teachings of Darwin.
To ccccccc I'm sorry your so upset I don't necessarily agree with censorship in most cases because your unable to see where one stands. ""Just keep deleting my comments you worthless cowards, and I will continue ridiculing your breathtaking stupidity. "". . . this is not the way to make friends.

Diana.....He should dismiss Dobson. Dobson is no one to talk regarding picking and choosing which scripture to follow. Dobson is nothing more than a modern day Pharisee (dragging the woman in adultery before Christ, while hiding those within his group who commit the same)... Hypcrit.
ha ha ha...you just did the same thing Dobson did, one question...what are your credentials? and have you been under the public scrutiny of the media for the last twenty years as Dobson has? please respond.

"If we were more active in doing God word", "God tell us to do and rebuke others. But you cannot force them to obey. Yes, we should warn others about their actions and take a stand. But they still have a right to make their choice."
I think what Holito is triing to say is that you can't legislate morality. I agree with this but at the same time I believe "certain rights" should never be tampered with EX: right to life which is affected by abortions, wars, and the economy (just look at third world countries). Concerning homosexuals I do not agree with their agenda or their cause nor do I think because they have a sexual orientation they should receive special treatment, nor should I because of mine.
Unfortunately the time we live in is the result of those before us who did not affect their culture as they should have (for whatever reason)and we have the fruit of a generation ignorant of God, the Lord Jesus, and the Holy Spirit resulting in the great american melting pot of political controversy.....if there were more christians surely there would not be so much turmoil.

"poker" Since the writers of Scripture are not the final authorities on human sexuality, since they didn't even know about sexual orientation as we understand it today, since Jesus and the Jewish prophets were silent about any kind of same-sex behavior, I am persuaded that the Bible has nothing in it to approve or condemn homosexual orientation as we understand it.....I wonder if you read the bible just to argue it because you have obviously no knowledge of any of Paul's writings or you purposefully deny them or lie about them to suit your own beliefs, I'm sorry you do this. You should study on the ancient city of Corinth and actually find out what Paul dealt with when he went there. To those who know better concerning these subjects you come off as nothing more than one who hates Christianity is this the case?

Poker" Imagine the suffering that could be avoided if the church could say this to their lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender children: "We don't understand your views about sexual orientation, but we love and trust you. As long as you love God and seek God's will in your life, you are welcome here." To someone who reads their bible this is one of the biggest oxymorons one could imagine......" In 1992, 359 years later, Pope John Paul II finally admitted the church had been wrong to ignore science and to interpret the Bible literally." If you agree with this statement then you have no footing for any argument for or against any doctrine anyone would bring up from or about the bible. That is completely undermining scrpiture and his own(professed) faith concerning teachings the catholic church has concerning adultery, homosexuality, abortion, and so-on. If the bible should not be interpreted literally concerning doctrine then what's the point of reading it at all?????

Mike :What a foolish article! This has nothing to do with making it illegal to speak out against homosexuality or about a state's decision to allow or ban gay marriage and gay adoption. This has to do with people who are being harassed, tortured, and killed due to their sexual orientation or gender identity.. . . . My problem with this statement is that if it is referring to people being tortured, and or killed then the law already condemns these actions regardless of sexual orientation. Harassment is the word that is haunting me....I could say my boss is harassing me because I'm not doing what he wants....I can either quit or deal with it. Concerning sexual orientation, harassment or as they said "discrimination" against such is impossible to avoid. Churches that hold to the doctrine outlined in the bible must as a necessity of conscience toward God reject people with any sexual orientation outside of the covenant of marriage (between a man and a woman) (I can't believe I actually have to write that). . . .Let's see a staunch supporter of anti-gay activism fight his way into a court case of discrimination if they were to try and get a job with the L.G.B.T. committee.

"As a male I would like the opportunity to take my business elsewhere than support someone who feels they have the right to force their beliefs on others. "
I believe there is quite a line between forcing beliefs on others as opposed enabling others to practice beliefs they deem improper EX: taking business elsewhere is not forcing your beliefs but refusing to enable someone to practice their beliefs that you have deemed improper....there is no difference.

gay "This is truly hysterical. A crazy superstitious fool representing a myth-believing cult can empirically identify the non-existent identities of 4 non-existent "horsemen." How do you respond? Do you laugh? Do you cry? "
I see where your coming from . . . it's just like you going to a a website of a "cult" to read about it. . . if this is your way of getting laughs then you would be more miserable than him in life. You must be filled with hate for christians and God because you would have no other reason to visit and talk like this...tell me why.
to me it seems like meeting with your enemies to know your enemies.....he actually has to talk to people who practice a faith in order to blend in enough to look like one. I find this nothing more than a recon mission..go out find out information about the enemy and use it to your advantage

I find it a little unnerving that they have time form a pro-homosexual caucus and find supporters but not find time to allow alternate forms of fuel to be mass-produced here in America, along with other economic issues that aren't going away.......no we have to spend our time promoting an alternative stance for morality. . .not gov't business but everyone's personal business

"Tony Blair has argued that faith has to be rescued from those who would use it to divide and those determined to write it off as an irrelevance," the statement from his office said.. . . .
Faith in itself is divisive, it divides believers from un-believers.....how can he "rescue faith" from those who through believing have separated themselves from others. If there is no dividing line what kind of faith is it? Sounds a little like every faith should be one faith to him.....none are any different to him....I will never worship a cow, Allah, meditate myself into nirvana, or slaughter an animal to cover my sins. So I can never be one with these people who do, that doesn't mean I can't tolerate them but I will separate myself from them as it requires to show that I am not one of them. So should anyone who truely believes in any faith.

this is nothing out of the ordinary. . . unbelieving orthodox jews would find the new testament a direct assault on what they believe. God will bring a remnant out of Israel though. When the times of the Gentiles is finished He will call out to bring them in. The book burning just reminds me of the way Saul of Tarsus acted and those with him as he sought to destroy faith in Christ Jesus. Thank God He will show Himself to them.
On our own we are little more than bits of stone and glass. Together we are the Body of Christ. Holy Bible: Mosaic is an invitation to experience Christ in His Word and in the responses of his people. Each week, as you reflect on guided Scripture readings aligned with the church seasons, you will receive a wealth of insight from historical and contemporary writings.
