DP – “It wasn't until someone complained about the term "God" that they acted. I find it offensive for them to allow employees to wear pro-gay buttons yet they haven't fired anyone for that. It's just another case of "tolerance"....”
Managers have a world of problems all their own, they can’t notice everything, especially if there are not any other problems with a particular employee. He probably didn’t notice it until someone said something about the button.
I’d love to see proof of Home Depot employees wearing ‘pro-gay’ buttons on their uniforms AT work. I have seen several people in parades that were dressed up as ‘Depot’ employees, but I doubt they were actual employees.less
DP - I am familiar with the story. It was one of the first stories, maybe the first, I commented about on CP. Where/when did Home Depot say it was offensive? They let him wear it for a year? Great, he got away with violating the company dress code for a year and was not penalized for it. They offered to let him wear other buttons that supported the troops, but he declined. Companies, esp...more

Companies, especially of that size, have a right and a duty to shareholders to develop and maintain dress codes for their employees.less
GsL - If they [ACP] are so proud of their uber-conservative, anti-gay froth, why don't they stand up and clearly, honestly differentiate themselves publicly? Why do they instead ride deceptively on the coattails of the AAP?... They should do precisely that, but we all know that will never happen. BTW, I had to google Zastaval Koral to find out what that means. It's better known ...more

They should do precisely that, but we all know that will never happen.
BTW, I had to google Zastaval Koral to find out what that means. It's better known to American auto enthusiasts as the Yugo.less
DP - Anyone remember the guy that got fired for wearing a "In God We Trust" button in honor of his brother in one of the war zones? They said that was offensive. So, I wouldn't want to offend Home Depot by giving them money that says "In God We Trust" on it.... Exactly when/where did Home Depot say it was offensive?

And for a lot of the recipients, this would be their first time having brand new clothing, according to David Krichavsky, NFL Director of Community Affairs."
You can say the same thing about a lot of people in the US.less
ldfrmc - To then quote a 2007 Pew Poll of the public on marriage - a 4 years old poll - as indicative of anything is just pathetic. Agreed. But I do wish she would have given the full name of that poll so we could look at it. I'd like to know if that "majority" is 50.001% or 75%. My guess is it's closer to the 50.001%..... The only mention of gay males couples is the very last sentence: "She is also hoping to collect more data on gay-father households; gay fatherhood is less common than lesbian motherhood because of the high costs of surrogacy or adoption that gay couples face in order to start a family."less
Do you mean the Jesusbot speaking in the opposition video? He is merely repeating what has been programmed into him, probably since he was in diapers. I remember one show in 09 where Rush was talking about the health care reform bill. He made the statement that "Obama wants to put your medical records on Google, he wants everybody to be able to look at them"! Again, a total fabrication, a flat-out lie. But people believe Rush, that's all they need to know.less

That's the problem... ACPed is more than happy to benefit from people getting confused over which group is which.... Abbreviated or not, when people hear 'American' and 'pediatrics' or 'pediatricians' they automatically think of the group their mothers and grandmothers trusted... the AAPless

bel - gl, they left the AAP and formed the ACP over a difference in opinion with regards to the make up of the family and they take a stronger abstinence stand than the AAP. ... Oh? And what was that 'difference in opinion' concerning?
