  • James Dobson to Go Off the Air

Oh! For crying out loud! All that seems to go on is people posting just to see their own words! So far there have been only 2 posts about Dr. Dobson!

Christian or non-christian alike.. Its hard to tell you guys apart sometimes because all that seems to happen on this site is post for the sake of arguement!

    Proverbs 10:19 (New International Version)

19 When words are many, sin is not absent,
but he who holds his tongue is wise.

    Proverbs 23:9 (New International Version)

9 Do not speak to a fool,
for he will scorn the wisdom of your words.

Here's something to think about.. We are blessed so that we can be a blessing. Until you've blessed someone it's hard to speak into their lives. They don't care what you know until the know that you care. They want people to SHOW them Christ.. Not TELL them Christ!

Honestly guys.. Its hard to tell the Christians from the unbelievers on these posts! Vain arguements do none of us good! Bickering and nit-picking? Where is Christ in that?

And we wonder why those who have yet to surrender to Christ have issues with us..

Anyway, I hope some of you take this to heart before we get involved with vain arguements because in most cases they do not promote the kingdom of God or His Gospel..

    God bless!

Just curious... This is a Christian based news site.. Obviously they address issues here that are not of the unbeliever's "taste"..

So why DO you guys and gals come here? Is it to just cause trouble? Stir up an arguement so that you can "think" you guys have proven some point?

I mean, what is the draw for those not of The Way to this place? Is it to pick on us and laugh at us? Is it to rub our noses in something you think is a silly out-dated tradition? Are you "spying" on what the Christians are saying and doing?

    Seriously?

With this entire website based off of Christian doctorine I find it highly unlikely that ANYONE unsaved person would even begin to be able to grasp the reason why we as Christians stand for what we do.. Yes.. Say what you will.. We are just forcing our ways and views on others, we are brainwashing people in churches, we are just too narrow minded.. But guys.. WIDE is the gate and BROAD is the way to destruction and NARROW is the gate and STRAIGHT is the path that leads to Christ.. So within the unbelievers' "broadview" of life in general they will see our truth as narrowmindedness.. And thats ok.

I always hear about people on their death bed recieving Christ as savior when they realize the reality of eternity before them.. But I have yet to hear of a believer laying on their death bed doing the opposite?

That's because of our blessed assurance in Christ that the unsaved can NOT have until they confess their sins and turn to Christ as Savior.

It goes without saying that what I have said on here will get picked apart, quoted and laughed at by some..

But thats ok.. It doesn't bother me.. Its normal actually.. Because UNTIL a sinner realizes their sin they will continue in their folly and until that sinner comes to know Christ as savior they will have a hard time, dare I say an impossible time trying to grasp what His Word says, what we preach as the Gospel Message.. Its ONLY until the Holy Spirit convicts of their ways and opens their eyes to His Truth.. Again, its not my job as a Christian to convince you of your sin or what your "definition of sin and lifestyles" is..

Anyways.. I just had to get this out in the open as I too have often been side tracked with trying to change the world with my own doings and arguements when its really not my job in the first place.. We're just called to live as Christ did and reflect HIM in our lives.

    God Bless!

Ya know what I have been seeing more and more of on the CP posts.. Believers trying to CONVINCE non-believers of what we as Christians know as the trueth..

Guys, all those who have not put their faith in Christ as Lord and Savior AND fallowed in obedience to His ways in light of the Gospel will be hard pressed to make any sense of what we speak of.. Their minds are clouded with the twisted and humanistic ideas of what they think is true.. YES. Christ and His Word is the only trueth.. But these people who continually push against Christ and His Kingdom are the devil's children.. They are ignorant to the thinks of Christ..

Am I saying we should just give up hope.. NO! But remember its NOT OUR JOB TO CONVINCE THEM! That's the Holy Spirit's job..

The devil LOVES these types of back and forth things.. The little imp knows how to rile believers up to the point of getting us to THINK we are acting like Christ but instead we become so dead set on trying to convince people who until His Spirit places upon their heart THEY ARE SINNERS, will never realize the dark they walk in.. How can one know what light is IF they have been in the dark from the beginning.. We are to be the lights of Christ to this world..

What the lost want is not for us to "preach" them a sermon.. But they want to SEE a sermon in our lives..

To those of you who would pick apart my post.. Go right ahead.. My standards of thought and reasoning adhere to the infalable Word of God that has been around LONG before anyone else's lofty ideas of twisted truth.. Call me a bigot.. Call me a extremist.. Call me a hypocrite.. I don't care.. I am justified in Christ..

We as Christians spend WAY too much time talking and not enough time doing.. I am guilty of it just as much as anyone else..

You want to change the way someone is.. Good luck.. YOU/WE can't do it.. Only Christ living His life through us can..

Sorry my fellow brothers and sisters in Christ.. I just can't see where the continual bickering even among other believers on this site is furthering His Kingdom and HIs Gospel to those of unbelief who visit here as well..

Wow.. I have just caught the last several post by a few on here and by "boyyyy"..

Man.. Like the previous poster said.. IF you don't think Christiany is a legite belief system and that Our Creator doesn't exist.. Why are you so dead-set on running in down?

To me that's a sign that HE/Our Lord IS real otherwise people of your mind set would just blow it off and continue on about your business.. Why bother trying to disprove something if its already false?

I'm not going to try and figure you out man.. Simple fact is. .You're lost.. You have been faced with the fact of Christ and who He is and that for some reason has set you off on this tyrant of posts..

But brother, you are going to let this root of bitterness set so down deep into your heart that you will become consumed by it..

Do me a favor.. Shout out to Our God why you don't think He is real.. Shake your fists at Him in anger if need be.. And God still loves you even when you have so much hate and anger for Him and His children..

From what I have experienced is that those who react in such a way to Christians and our faith are those who are scared to release controll to a higher authority.. Not just as far as belief goes but in every other aspect of life.. And the risk of seeing just how vile they are scares them to death so if anything they will go fight tooth and nail against it..

No words can be said to such people.. IF I can talk someone into something then someone can talk them out of it..

All we can do is pray that The Lord will arrange situations and circumstances in their lives so that what ever false sence of security they are holding tightly to will be shaken with the Truth of His Word and thus come under conviction as to Who it is they have been pulling against..

Love ya boyyyy.. Will be praying for you man..

    Belhaven--

"Most people now have a much higher acceptance of homosexuality, interacial marriage, sex out of wedlock, and many other issues previously dominated by conservative religionists like yourself."

Just because "most people" might have a "higher accpetance" of the above things, that doesn't make it right.. SIN IS SIN! We wonder why rivial has yet to come to the Body of Christ.. This is why.. We take the Word of God, its teachings, principles and precepts and contort them into a humanistic type of message that in affect renders its message powerless.. This is what sickens me.. When we Christians quit trying to pat everyones' back and try to pass off the "I'm ok, your ok.." bit as the Gospel?

YES! The Gospel of Christ is love, forgiveness, and Grace. BUT lets not forget that The Lord is a RIGHTEOUS GOD and PURE GOD and a GOD OF JUDGEMENT! We have become blinded with a "fluffy" view of God and what He calls us to do and how He calls us to live! Lets quit hiding behind the shear curtain of a moral gospel and get back to the Bible as the infalable(SP?) inerrant Word of God that demands we live a righteous pure life.. NOT a life of turning a blind eye to sin!

Can we honestly tell ourselves as believers that the world can tell a difference in us by our actions, beliefs and attitude if we go along the same wide path and broad entrance that the world is so quick to run through? No.. We are no different than they are... I realize there are some who have a very liberal interpertation of God's Word and as sad as it is that often ends in people developing the "salad bar" approach to being a Christian.. Taking the things that appeal to us and by-passing the things that we might not agree with.. Get over it! God is God! He didn't make His Word to be a book to be picked to and sorted out so that we can "feel good" about ourselves all the time.. If thats what you want of if that's what you think Christianity is about.. You are saddly disillusioned! The sting of the Gospel is what drives people to repentance and to the Cross.. Remove that sting and you have a sugar coated message of fluff and nonsense.. Give me the sting!

Another thing that caused a flag to go up in my mind in this article was this, "Stephen and Millie Biellier brought their family from Missouri with the confidence that 2009 could be their "overcoming year," even though they are $102,000 in debt. They credit the Copelands with rescuing them from a financial crisis two decades ago, and are now among the Copelands' "partners" in ministry. The Biellers spoke of their excitement as they participated in an effort to buy the Copeland ministry a Citation X airplane. They joined the "Elite CX Team" after Mrs. Biellier said she heard the Holy Spirit tell her, "You were born to support this man." The couple gave $2,000 toward the airplane and recently gave $1,800 toward the ministry's purchase of high-definition television equipment. She is proud that the Copelands fly on a private jet..." WAIT A MINUTE.. I'm no accountant or financial guru nor are these peoples' finances any of my business.. BUT They are $102,000 IN DEBT and want to give MORE money to the Copelands?? Is it ME or does this seem backward? We should be Godly stewards of the finances that The Lord has blessed us with and take care of our household FIRST! Thats where the basis of Christian service is birthed and MUST be fullfilled; in the HOME. IF we can't serve our family (physically, spiritually and financly) and take care of their needs then HOW and WHY would God place a greater responsability upon us? I dare NOT try to pasture a flock of God's children IF I am a tyrant at home AND we should dare NOT try to give of our resources when we have NEEDS (not WANTS) that require those same resources at home! Heaven forbid I run my home in the ground all the while I am "serving God" out side of the home.. I know too many Christians who are so busy at the Church, missions, etc. but have suffered ill consequences for neglecting their family.

    Good posts guys!

Although I do not believe in the teachings of the "Prosperity Faith" bit. I do have to clarify something..

Prophet-- " The love of money is the root of all evil....."

That is not how the verse reads exactly..

1 Timothy 6:10- "For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evils. It is through this craving that some have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many pangs."

The love of money is NOT the root of ALL evil... But all kinds of evils.. There is a difference.. The love of money itself is wrong, its idolatry to say the least. But Christians should never throw stones at others who might have more money or possessions than us other Christians or unbelievers alike.. Covetting is a sin just as lusting after things is.. God doesn't put degrees of evil on different sins.. Sin is sin and all sin is evil in God's eyes as it should be in ours.. As we all know, there are Christian brothers and sisters who have deligently set their hands to work and earn a very good living and in turn give unto the Lord as they are lead to do by His Spirit speaking to them accordingly. Wealth in the hands of a unfit person is like putting a scalpal in the hands of murderer. Money and a scapal can be used for good or evil and unrighteousness, its all whose holding the scapal and whose bank account the money is in..

Here's an idea? Why don't the Copelands and other like minded preachers in the world live off of 10% and offer the other 90% (or even 5% and 95%) to missions, humanitary aide, Bibles to those who need them? Now I could be wrong in that they do these things now.. BUT as the article mentioned "As Goodstein reports, the preachers were not shy about drawing attention to the luxurious lives they lead. "Private airplanes and boats. A motorcycle sent by an anonymous supporter. Vacations in Hawaii and cruises in Alaska. Designer handbags. A ring of emeralds and diamonds." Why are those who should be focused on The Lords work here on this Earth worry about these things? Designer handbags? A ring of emeralds and diamonds? Where does flaunting these things in front of others glorify God? It doesn't...

This over abundance seems a bit too much like self preservation and not the well fair of the masses. Could we all not do without so that others who need will have?

Am I saying that God will NOT bless us with wealth? By no means! But we too often associate "wealth" with monitary things.. Its not, God doesn't always bless us the same we offer a blessing unto Him. Just becuase I might give 75% of my paycheck doesn't necessarily mean that The Lord will in return bless me with money in return. We need to to put God in a "reciprical box" on how he chooses to bless those who are faithfully obedient to Him. He is God of the universe!!

Am I "hatin'" against those who The Lord has blessed? NO! Absolutely not! BUT, how are they handling the blessings they are given?

All the garbage about "what is wrong is only wrong to you and is ok to me...etc, etc." and "There is no absolute trueth, its all a matter of one's opinion of a matter.. etc, etc." As well as a few statements I have come across on CP that are opinions based on weak character and lack of any moral fiber. They leave trueth and grasp to things that make their ears tingle. No one likes to be confronted with the trueth that we are sinners, its uncomfortable and threatening to our own little preoccupied worlds of self.. Thats why people come up with all this pysco-babble to "try" to explain sin as being just a bunch of superstitious beliefs.. When will this society try to apply this twisted theory of belief to murder, rape or perhaps child abuse? "Child Abuse stems from a guilt which is caused by superstitious beliefs that violent tendancies are evil. Abusive actions are needed to relieves the mental frustration..blah, blah, blah..."

Come on people!! No generation has ever been able to reason away their sin! Look at the Roman Empire of old, with all the "great thinkers" they still fell in a degraded state of immorality and sin.

Tell you what, I will cling to the Trueth of the Gospel of Christ and walk in the daily way of the Salvation given by the Cross and stand before The Lord when my time has come. But you "educated" folk are more than welcome to use your worldly witt and wisdom in an attempt to persuade Your Judge in the end that what you did was not sin but merely "Fun and pleasurable"..

Wow.. This movie has just enough of glitz and glammour of what unbelievers might think is a "spiritual" world to lure them in and confuse them even more! As well it portrays God as a cruel tyrant void of Grace and forgiveness. And we Christians sit idly by and let trash like this creep into our lives. I for one will NOT be supporting this movie with my money.. Another scheme of the Devil; take the Word of God and twist it into something that seems appealing to the eyes and ears BUT offers nothing but lies... Yes, I know, "Its only a movie..." Satan uses this same ploy to lure all of us into sin, " Its only once.. No one will know about.. Its just a little --insert sin of your choice--"...

Where is Christ and the work done on Calvary portrayed in this movie? Its not from what I've watched on the net.. Anyways, I'm done with my rant.. Hollywood, another tool of the Devil for his own use..

Who saves the world from sin, Jesus or another? Who is our everlasting peace admid the storms of life, Jesus or another? Who can heal our sickness and break the changes that bind us, Jesus or another?

Who will we stand before to answer for how we lived our lifes, Jesus or another?

Although I am sure that the prophets of old, the desciples and the apostles along with Mary are deffiantely note worthy patriarchs of our faith and there within their stories are leasons that The LORD is wanting to teach us, I doubt there is room in our relationship with Jesus to have these held as equal to and worthy of prayers and petitions.

Yes, we can all say "Jesus is Lord!" and unite under that banner of proclamation. But its how we take that message to the lost and dying world that defines us as who we follow. Do we take it to those lost with it mixed with dead religion of any denomination? Mixed with legalistic rituals that do nothing but add weight to what should remain weightless? Or do we share the Gospel of Christ and Christ alone who offers Salvation through Faith delivered to us by His Grace wrought on Calvary? As humans we often add our own methods to things that appear as "to good to be true". We do this so that we can feel like our efforts will justify the lifes we live. And saddly this has happened through out the course of the Christian faith. God says "My grace is sufficient.." We say , "But grace is too easy, it can't be sufficient. Here Lord, let me add this too. There.. Look at what I did to help you help me.." This is a hard thing for us to learn..

Salvation was brought to us by The sinless God-Man, Jesus Christ. The Water of Life. Not by the vessel in which the water was offered. As an empty cup will not quench one's thirst, but the water there in. When we are thirsty it isn't the cup alone we seek but the water of which we drink.

  • Rick Warren to Speak at Muslim Convention in D.C.

    BDawgC »
    Thu Jul 02, 2009 3:04 pm Agree: 0   Disagree: 0

zhwa2k, perhaps you misunderstood my comments and although I do believe Mr. Warren should be ready "in season and out of season" to preach the gospel, even in a situation like this, I did also mentioned "Let us pray for Rick Warren to have the dedication and conviction to bring the Message of Salvation to these people. Yet standing firm on the principles of God's Word and not wavering or compromising for anyone! Yet having these convictions balanced out by the compassion of Christ to the lost! A fine line he must walk, may the Lord bless him with guidance, wisdom and discernment as to walk in a circumspectly manner that will reveal Jesus Christ as his and the ONLY Savior of mankind!"

We should balance out our witnessing for Christ with gentleness and and respect (1 Peter 3:15) and be "wise as a serpent yet gentle as a dove" (Matthew 10:16). But we also must be obiedent to what the Lord has called us to do in any given circumstance. I am not so nieve to think nor agree with Mr. Warren nor anyone else walking into this situation with their "Gospel Guns ablazing" situations like this must require prayer, guidance, grace and wisdom so that Jesus is very much shown as Savior but done with grace, love and respect. After all, we are to show love towards everyone, Christ's love at that.
When we choose not to share the message of Salvation for the sake of P.C. and not stepping on toes, we run the risk of, if not have already preached a watered down gospel in which there is no light to shine in the dark. That very light is what brings people to the realization of their sin and ultimately to the feet of Jesus. John 3:20-"For everyone who does wicked things hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his works should be exposed."

Wow.. I have mixed feelings about this.. Part of me is glad to see that a Christan speaker has an opportunity to speak before those who for the most part directly opposed the Christian Faith.. I hope that Mr. Warred DOES take this opportunity to share the Gospel truth with the Muslim attendees as that is the ONLY thing that that will save their souls; NOT "inter-faith cooperation" towards bettering this world.

But then part of me is weary as how should a Christian approach this.. Should we take the stance of what artm said about "What fellowship has light with darkness."? BUT if The LORD has placed Mr. Warren in this situation to spread his message of hope to the unbelievers, who are we to judge? I guess all we can do is pray that God would press upon Mr. Warren's heart to stand firm on the foundation of the Gospel of Christ and proclaim this Gospel bodly to those at this conference! After all, we must love even our enemies and pray for them. The way we handle opposition from others may be the only light of Christ those who are against us see. For should they see Christ through us as someone who hates, is unloving and cruel? No. The should see Christ through us as a Loving Savior whose arms are open to ALL people. After all, we are His hands and feet. Now its up to those of us (Mr. Warren) to handle an opportunity like this in a Christ like manner zealously proclaiming The Lord Jesus Christ as the ONLY way to eternal heaven to those who place their trust in other means of salvation!

Let us pray for Rick Warren to have the dedication and conviction to bring the Message of Salvation to these people. Yet standing firm on the principles of God's Word and not wavering or compromising for anyone! Yet having these convictions balanced out by the compassion of Christ to the lost! A fine line he must walk, may the Lord bless him with guidance, wisdom and discernment as to walk in a circumspectly manner that will reveal Jesus Christ as his and the ONLY Savior of mankind!

"BD, if you would have attended the Southern Baptist Convention Annual Meeting you would have seen that we are committed to going outside the walls of our churches and in fact many are already and ministering to hurting people from all walks of life. So we are indeed showing God's love to sinners while continuing to take a stand against sin. And that exactly what this resolution is all about we are committed to praying for our President, but we do disagree with many of his recent decisions which are contrary to the Word of God."-- believer

believer, I think you might have misunderstand my post! I was NOT insinuating (SP?) that this was NOT taking place within the SBC, after all I am a proud member of a SBC church! But I was hoping to possibly pose the thought that the decision reached by the SBC was loving and reaching out to someone even if they do not agree with things as should be when it comes to a spiritual, ethnical and moral standing as they should in light of what the Gospel says! Please, do not think that I am bashing what took place during the SBC meetings, like you said believer, I was not there.. I have a relative who irritates the mess out of me and his lifestyle and actions are so counter to what the Word of God says. But I try not to let his lifestyle influence me showing him the love of Christ that he is due from me being a follower of the Lord Jesus!

Not sure where you are coming from there bro, but I do my best each day to show God's love to everyone I come in contact with.. I just like the rest of us are human and I mess up and sin everyday! But, if you somehow know me in personally and I have some way not shown the Light of Christ towards you or have another valid reason to address this, then I appologize and I hope that perhaps I have another chance to be a example of the Lord's love to you and anyone else I have let down. Like I said, I mess up everyday and at the Lord takes me to the "wood shed" if you will, when I do mess up. Its only by the Grace of God that I am able to recieve forgiveness, learn from my mistakes and move forward with what He has called me to do!

Good gravey Batman!! Isn't this story about the SBCs comment about the election of President Barak Obama? After reading through these posts its hard to tell that!

LOL!! Anyways, I think the old addage of "Love the sinner, hate the sin.." Needs to be applied when it comes to Mr.Obama.. As Christians, we are to love others as Jesus does.. Just because I disagree with a "life style" or sin someone is involved doesn't mean I am to show my dissatisfaction towards their choices by meaning mean, cruel and unloving, etc. towards a person.. Look at what Jesus cried out while hanging on the Cross, "Father! Forgive them for they know not what they do!" Does that show that Jesus "hated" those who crucified Him? NO! Forgiveness is an act of mercy and grace. Mercy and Grace are cultivated in a loving heart that has been surrendered to the Lordship of Christ. Now, its up to US to pray and rely on God to give us the Grace to love folk who we disagree with or have a hard time being around. Come one people! We are HUMAN, no one can get along with everyone 100% of the time! BUT, we are still required to show love and compassion to even the most vile of people. Its the love of Christ we are to share with others that shows us to be followers of Christ. NOT beating people over their heads with "religion". Some people have a hard time loving others as well as them selves because no one has ever taken the time to love them..
IF you raise a child without loving them daily and showing that love relationship through words and actions, do you think that they will grow up to be a loving and caring person on their own? No.. Love is something that is developed at an early age and children first experience this from their parents.
In saying all that, we must be willing to put aside our hate, bigotry and legalistic attitudes, be willing to get our hands dirty and share the Love of Christ and the Gospel Truth with those who need it.. A well man is in no need of a doctor. Jesus came to save the filthy dirty rotten sinners. THATS ME AND EVERYONE ON THIS PLANET!! So who are we to look down our judgemental noses and turn our backs on those who if anything need to be shown the Love of Christ! We are Ambassadors of The Lord, conduits of His love and mercy to a dying world. Will we dare to get out of our comfort zones and be willing to REALLY be His hands and feet? Its a hard question to ask, even harder to put action to. But to know that Jesus Christ hung out with the under-belly of society, who are we to sit in our churchs and never dare to do take the Gospel outside it's four walls!

    Anyways, thats my .5 cents.

    God Bless!

So you quoted a portion from "Amusing Ourselves to Death". Those words don't sway me one bit as they are the opinion of a human being which seems to be void of the absolute Truth of God's Word.

Show me The Word of God and I'll show you something that is worth quoting.

No words can be said here to try to move this conversation one way of the other. Instead I will pray for you KoneWone2.

    God Bless!
