Hey Jar - yeah, the fact is this kind of anonymous forum is hardly the venue to spar and genuinely have one-on-one honest interaction. Face-to-face is so much better. Especially when you're close enough to SLAP them. ;)

I began running into the Metropolital Church of Christers (MCC) many moons ago and trying to convince them what the Bible so plainly teaches with no ambiguity at all is like trying to convince Dennis Kucinich that UFOs don't exist. There's an agenda, there's a deep emotional reason, and they're dug into the trenches, regardless of the fact the trenches are 2" deep.

This baby takes prayer, fasting, and a little Rez Band.

    2 Words: Ralph (and) Reed.

gmac0961 - I can't agree more and I conjure the 2 words above that make me shudder for effect. The issue you bring up opens a huge can of worms that is far too painful to discuss within the bounds of text boxes. The "American Church", as a whole, is far too worldly, far too faithless, and has long since existed to become truly effective. The state of the soul of our country is proof of that. And when you have influential Xians like Pat Robertson putting his heart and soul behind Rudderless Ghouliani, Bob Jones III behind Mitt Moroni, and Gary Bauer behind McPain, I seriously have to wonder what Outer Limits episode I woke up in.

We DO need a serious national "repent job" as you suggest, but until that ever happens, the Church will continue to spinelessly slither down and "slouch toward Gomorrah".

    Folks...folks....

We've all enjoyed the stimulating banter over who's got Twisted Scripture on their iPOD and who's got their heads in their booties.

Do you really suppose you're going to somehow convince a person like SheQuon, a card-carrying citizen of "The Land of The Lost", that scripture soundly rebukes homosexuality?

kpercy07: hearty thanks for the props, but you are sadly mistaken about your voting options. You see...in November 2008, you WILL be voting for Bozo. That's the whole point of my ID. I see you nodding your head. Aahhh...now you get it.....

59innings and gmac0961: I agree with your sentiments as all believers should (yes, even our beloved Dr. D) - that our hope should not be in politics, chariots, horses, or horses' a_ _ es. But I genuinely can't imagine how we as Xians can approach civic duty as an optional such as stuffing or potatoes. God has called us to get involved until his return. We can interpret that however we want, but not to participate in the election of officials, I think, is an abdication of our moral duty. I think we can all think of countless illustrations where we did something we didn't want to do, but we did it because it was the right thing to do. Has God called us to simply roll over and die and allow the enemy to take over? At the very minimum He's called us to fight - and He'll take care of the results. And one of the many battles we are called to fight take place in the voting booth. (I'm not suggesting either of you are not voting, but I know there are a lot of Xians out there who won't this time around).

I have several friends that won't vote for McPain because they don't want to "support" him. So anyone that is reluctant to vote - and I empathize more than anyone since I am a military member and the POTUS is also my Commander in Chief - think of it this way: A vote for your candidate is not a vote of support...it's DAMAGE CONTROL.

Sovereignly, God is completely in control, but he's still left us in this world to be light and salt. But we can't be so spiritually minded to where we're no earthly good. Last time I checked, the pavement I walk on is asphalt, not 24K gold. Until that changes, I'm going to vote in every election available to me - even if it is Bozo 4 President every 4 years.

Let's all just pray Jesus comes back.......Nov 3rd.

"The question is, will the younger generation heed the call? Who will defend the unborn child in the years to come? Who will plead for the Terri Schiavos of the world? Who's going to fight for the institution of marriage, which is on the ropes today."

I find it amazing that Dr. D can say state this call for Christians to action and at the same time pout, stomp his feet, and announce he's going to boycott the presidential election in November and simply not vote. This is lunacy. As much as I like Dr. D, he's really missed the boat, dingy, and all. How can we as Christians influence law and legislation...but then not participate in the political process? I see a blatant lack of consistency here.

If you don't "prefer" any of the candidates, you have the option to vote for the lesser of 2 distinct evils, or you could do what I'm doing - obvioulsy - writing in BOZO 4 President!

“Those are just some thoughts on the issue here. It's not as black-and-white as some Christians might like to think it is." "But there is an increasingly vocal number of Bible-loving Christ-loving Christians who are looking seriously at the passages of Scripture which refer to homosexual practice and determining that the Bible isn't as clear as it appears. "

Knightopia, whatchu smokin’?. An increasingly number of Bible-LOVING Christians, huh? How in tarnation can someone who "loves" the Bible can't see the Truth so plainly...unless the Truth is not in him? I can't disagree with you more. I''ve heard all the fantastical groundless arguments from the MCC-ers and it's clear as day to me either folk like you are seriously suppressing the Truth or you're simply not IN the Truth. And if you challenge scripture's simple teachings, then what ELSE do you question?

When you state "You can't apply that reasoning to homosexuals and give everyone else a free pass", who's giving who a "free pass"? The Bible clearly states "gluttons" won’t see Heaven just as much as lovers of homosexuality. I've asked someone else this before: where are you getting your theology from? Because you need to get your money back.

I don't know what kind of bubble you live in, but I can surely tell you, sparing you scripture after scripture, that this issue is VERY black and white - whether you or I want to believe it or not.

Bottom line: God is not going to cast anyone into Hell for being a homosexual...or a glutton for that matter. People go to Hell because they supress the truth of the Savior and are not found in Him. It's just that those that are in Him know in their spirit what scripture clearly states. I suggest you ask God, revealed in Jesus Christ, whether or not you really know Him at all. Sorry to sound like a jerk, but you need to get real with God, dude. Soon.

Hey schitzo nga ~ don't want to burst your bubble but I had to laugh when I read your comment: "Perhaps its the "believers" that dont like critical analysis of their beliefs." I've scoured this site through the more intersting dialogues (at least the ones that weren't FLAGGED by some morons out there) and trust me, I've seen nary a "critical analysis" of anyone's beliefs. Criticism certainly. But analysis? Hardly.

Like similar sites where you can post comments to NEWS articles, these boards quickly turn into shouting/insult matches between God haters and God lovers. Blah blah BLAH. Not much of a contemporary version of Mars Hill is it?

Oh yeah...and "QT" - I've read your pathetic "critical analysis" on various postings. I suggest you put down your CRACK pipe and actually try READING the bible for a change. You might learn something. We're all rooting for you.

And jesus4me - Jesus is certainly 4 you, but highly speculative postings like "the flaggers are usually really angry atheists..." hardly speak "4" thought-provoking reasonable exchanges. All you're doing is feeding a stereotype against those you believe are stereotyping you.

    Bozo sez: foul.

Before the BOZOS who are flagging everyone's input:

John14-6: You say "Anyone in communion with this denomination is placing their immortal soul in peril."

What kind of theology is that? These people are flaming nimrods and clearly part of the "unbelieving church". PLACING their immortal souls in peril? I'd say they're ALREADY in peril!!

But I guess MY soul is already in peril, because I don't read the King James Version: Good News for 17th Century Man. Is that correct 1_Corinthians_8_5-6_KJV?

Besides, Bozo loves the English Standard Version.

    NOW you can flag me.

  • 'Hannah Montana' Star Says Faith Keeps Her Grounded

"....that’s when something greater than even that comes in – and that’s faith and that’s what I have for me.....That’s what keeps me strong.” The teen sensation explained that many young stars ....losing touch with God.

"It's because, you know, this life that I lead is pretty crazy. It's just about, you know, having value and having pride in yourself." (!?)

Where is this young lady getting her theology??

I'm not Hannah Montana expert, but I have to question the degree of her "faith" publicly made evident in her photo shoots and concerts. Is the message to have faith in Christ...or in lockstep with the secular pop mantra: faith in OURSELVES. ?

This all reminds me of a watered down Touched by an Angel episode.

    UGH.

yeah yeah...go ahead and flag this "inappropriate" just like the others. Amuse me. <Yawn>
