  • Evangelical: We Don't Need Rite of Exorcism, Just Jesus

Just a thought. If you're possessed by satan and can't get to jesus yourself, isn't it good someone knows how to get Him there? btw, A PRIESTHOOD WAS DEFINITELY FOUNDED BY CHRIST. I guess Mohler just doesn't like the word, "priest."

  • Evangelical: We Don't Need Rite of Exorcism, Just Jesus

Who does Mohler think priests call on during exorcism, the Michelin man? It's Jesus Christ who is called ot cast out the devil. Mohler just has a problem with anything that smacks of formality in the least. These rites weren't established for nothing and they are based on the Word if you'd do a little research instead of reaching for anti-Catholic drivel any chance you get.

aND LET'S FACE IT, IT IS THE WORKING CLASS AND THE MIDDLE CLASS WHO DO THE BULK OF THE SPENDING ON EVERYDAY ITEMS - BECAUSE THEY HAVE TOO. THEY FEED THE ECONOMY EVERYDAY WHILE WE'RE STILL WAITING FOR ALL THAT PROMISED JOB CREATION FROM THE RICH GUYS. iT DOESN'T HAPPEN. WE'VE SEEN THAT.

  • Head Catholic Bishop Defends Criticism of Health Care Reform

And we need to do what the Bishops have done - be active in the world as Christians. While sharing the Word is commendable, it is not the be all and end all of our responsibilities as Christians. There is so much more to do for us to be complete in our faith as we seek the Christ life.

And approval for the mosque is no sign that the courts are under the influence of Sharia law. They are under the influence of the US Constitution which, as is bleated on these pages more than I can count, guarantees freedom of religion - every religion, not just the ones they approve of in Tennessee. There is a strong current of bigotry underlying these protests and anyone who's been in Tennessee knows that.less

It's only by ignoring what the early Church did, what the Church Fathers wrote and what early Christians believed that leads to such a skewed view of what the truth is. Their insufficient knowledge doesn't let them see the essential nature of Apostolic succession, the Sacraments and the Eucharist and leads them to wrongheaded conclusions about the Church and it's teachings. Again, it's because they have so little to go on and they don't even realize they only have half a loaf.less

"Roman" was an invention of the Anglicans who wished to be called catholic, but wanted to differentiate themselves from Rome and the Papacy.

Anyonw who has truly explored Church history can reach no other conclusion than the Catholic Church is the same original Church of Christ. The Gospels are incomplete in this regard and don't provide a full picture because they weren't meant to. They simply impart God's message, but we have accounts of Christians from the first centuries that do provide that picture. Reading is a wonderful thing. You should try it.

Again, while all in the Bible is true, not all that is true is in the Bible. The Church had lived through 4 centuries before it codified the books of the Canon. Christians lived, believed and practiced their faith without the benefit of a Bible. They had the Church to guide them. If you rely on the Word alone, you are bound to make the mistakes you do about the Church. It's like taking a test without having all the material.less

  • Polish Town Erects World's Largest Jesus Statue

It's amazing how far Poland has come from the days when Bishop Karol Wojtyła had to stage yearly Masses in an empty field for years and years to finally force the authorities to allow a church to be built in a new "model" Polish city. I'm sure the Poles have a great appreciation for their freedom of religion.

  • Polish Town Erects World's Largest Jesus Statue

Simple logic tells us that the 10 Commandments do not apply to representations of Jesus. We were thousands of years from the coming of Christ and the commandment addresses false gods, the subject of idolatry, not the Son of Man. Of course, when you don't recognize Jesus as Messiah, you can incorrectly attribute idolatry to Christians.

This was no more historic than any other midterm shift and has no more significance than Obama's overwhelming win in 2010. Ultimately, after 2 years of obstructionism and no-governance, the Republicans will be handed their walking papers in 2012. Interesting footnote: Any Democratic President who's party has lost the midterm elections was re-elected to a second term.

  • The Questions Christians Hope No One Will Ask

Actually, if we just live our lives as Christians, doing unto others in the loving charitable way Christ commanded, we can set an example that makes those questions almost irrelevant. Substitute love for condemnation and self-righteous judgment and you'll swing people to Christ, the source of love.
