Apparently, the most honest person this election cycle was unfortunately, Obama himself! He did not hide his evil- the religious leaders simply ignored it!

    wwfsmd-
You raised the issue of voting for Obama who you also believe is a Christian. Is that a cultural Christian or what? How can one be a real Christian but acknowledges that he believes that there are more ways to heaven besides Jesus?

The Founding Fathers were fully aware of what they were writing and who they meant. Whether there were atheists, agnostics and such is a moot point. These were people who believed so strongly that God was with them that many of them pledged their lives, property and honor. They did not write with the intention of avoiding offending the sensibilities of those of other religious beliefs, but moved with the conviction of the Holy Spirit and assurance of God's word that what they were doing was good and just. They wrote it because they lved it! Unlike many of us today, seeking to be wiser than God.

Many people do not realize the the closing statement of the U.S. Constitution closes with the statement "Done in Convention by the Unanimous Consent of the States present the Seventeenth Day of September in the Year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and Eighty seven and of the Independence of the United States of America the Twelfth."
So I suggest that if the Founding Fathers really intended to produce a document free of religious references, they would not have recognized the time without acknowledging "our Lord."

Well said, DRJ! 1 John chapter 4 even identifies that spirit. We have cultural Christians who have simply adopted the customs and traditons instead of born-again believers!

I believe that the real issue has to do with Obama's cult mentality. If he goes to another United Church of Christ, it would indicate that he actually agreed with the doctrine preached to him for twenty years. Besides, during an April 2005 interview, he said that he never missed a Sunday. Doesn't 2+2 still equal 4?

A.S. Matthew is absolutely correct! In fact, Jesus himself directs us to "Seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all of these things shall be added unto you." Look at Acts 4:35b and compare it with Karl Marx's slogan, "from each one according to his ability, to each one according to his needs." This social gospel requires government's prying open the hands of people to force redistribution, and racism has been a necessary component in order to bring this to its manifestation. A great book to read is "Overcoming Racism Through the Gospel."

The racial divide is manifested just as much in how each group views the role of the federal government as the actual racial differences themselves! As a black pastor, I and others refused to simply follow the Obama mystique like many of the most prominent pastors. This reveals even in them that there are hidden priorities that have betrayed other spiritual brothers and sisters hat even T.D. Jakes has fallen to: Matthew 24:24 and 1 John 4 says it all!

    MDub,
I am black and I appreciate all of the suffering and painful journeys that have led us up to this point. However, it is the word of God that makes the difference. I would love to vote for Obama ONLY IF I could see him promoting the agenda of God's kingdom. Its not the isue of whether the person I vot for is white or black, but whether he or she would uphold the standards that have kept this nation strong for over 200 years, and not seek to adopt the policies and positions of empires that have imploded under the weight of their own sin and shame! Lack of critical insight? What better measurement of men than God's word? Do I detect the emotional suppression of the truth in order to follow this charismic black leader?

It is not that the churches that happen to be predominantly African American are being judged, but we must understand the dynamics. How can we walk together except we agree? Is there a message being preached bearing "another Jesus"? I am a black pastor who has enjoyed many of Bishop Jakes' sermons. However, I question the energy expended to preserve or protect any church based upon its dominant race, whether black or white! Just as slavery was accepted by many white churches, it would be just as wrong to defend the ideology preached by Rev. Wright today. Should we fight to preserve our cultures and effectively or sufficiently take upon ourselves the mind of Christ? I disagree with Bishop Jakes on the point that he often acts more as an influential Democrat than an even-handed representative of the Kingdom of Heaven.

  • Ex-Obama Pastor Tells NAACP He's Descriptive, Not Divisive

As I listened to Rev. Wright's NAACP address last night, I realized that there were some truths he spoke about the mis-education of the African American kids, and kids in general. Ritalin, other mind-altering drugs, ADD, ADHD and all of the other alphabet disorders that plague our communities are real. However, it has been the NAACP itself- a blindly faithful and complicit companion to the public education system that has blocked the very kids it has supposed to be protecting, from escaping these non-performing schools! Fatherless homes, out-of-wedlock births, high crime rates (including against fellow blacks), etc. Isn't the simple definition of insanity described as "doing the same thing over, and over again, expecting a different result?

What Rev. Wright has been saying is not much different from many black preachers and leaders. Jesse Jackson, Louis Farrakhan, Al Sharpton, Wright, Congressional Black Caucus and even many caucasian liberals. This has been the 40+ year mantra of the left- to continually convince black America of its victimhood. These listed are only a few of the "beneficiaries" of this false gospel, not to mention the Democratic Party itself. The book "Overcoming Racism Through the Gospel" lays it all out in plain view.

What about the receding polar ice caps on the planet Mars? Does this give credence to the possibility of solar activity being more responsible for global warming than human activity? Why is China not included in the Kyoto Treaty? Oh I see... they already have a totalitarian state.

McCain/Feingold... tax cut rejection... considering becoming a Democrat... attempting to force immigration reform down our throats... refusing to support marriage amendment... supporter of embryonic stem cell research... received financial support from George Soros...
If the GOP had put this amount of pressure on John McCain then, that they want to apply to Mike Huckabee now, we would not have this predicament.

  • Should Evangelicals Embrace Barack Obama?

    Chip »
    Fri Feb 15, 2008 6:44 am Agree: 3   Disagree: 0

Let's look at Obama's ideology from this position: Acts 4:34 and 35 says... "Neither was there any among them that lacked: for as many as were possessors of lands or houses sold them, and brought the prices of the things that were sold, and laid them down at the apostles' feet: and distribution was made unto every man according as he had need." This describes the essence of Christian giving and benevolence, as they were inspired by the Holy Spirit. However, there became a slogan in the 19th century, "from each according to his ability. to each according to his needs" that has unfortunately supplanted the Christian concept of benevolence. This slogan was invented by Karl Marx, the father of communism! Many Christians now believe that their benevolence must be enacted through the power of government, which is Marxism! True Christian giving comes from one's own heart, not from using a system of power to extract from others. Socialism is when the people believe that government is God, communism is when government BECOMES God!
