Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free. (JN 8:32)

I too am angered by this "conspiricy" to promote Christianity at PSU. This is not the worst of it though. Think of our own English alphabet where the "t" or "T" also looks like a cross. This too has to be a conspiracy begun at the highest levels.
In pro?es? from now on I refuse to use a "t" & will s?ar? using "?" ins?ead.. No self respec?ing a?hes? should ever again use that letter. That will ?each them a lesson.

I am not snooty about the atheists it's just that "A million New Yorkers are good without God" is laughable. It's intellectually silly actually. By your definitions there is no "good" there is no "bad". A more accurate post would be "A million New Yorkers are ..." fill in the blank because it doesn't matter.
There is not good, no bad, no purpose no nothing. Life is pointless and the only meaning you have is what you personally ascribes to it but even that is meaningless. If your self created meaning makes you feel nice that's fine.
Of course as a Christian I do not believe that but it's funny that you use our language to define yourself. At least be intellectually honest.
They are toothless, let them say what they want. According to my worldview and according to my world view their views are meaningless and empty.

Fullgospel: I do know history! How about this history?
In Rom 11;19 & following, Paul reminded the arrogant Gentiles that if God could break off the branch of the Jews in order to graft on the Gentiles, he could just as easily break off the Gentiles, The Roman church, Orthodox, Lutheran, ELCA, Baptist or what ever including myself for arrogance.
"You will say then, "Branches were broken off so that I could be grafted in."
20 Granted. But they were broken off because of unbelief, and you stand by faith. Do not be arrogant, but be afraid.
21 For if God did not spare the natural branches, he will not spare you either.
If God could break off the Jews he could certainly break off the "Catholic" church, the ELCA or whom ever leaves Him.

Full Gospel I tire of you Roman's making these ago old & tired "self proclamations" of ultimate authority. The Eastern Orthodox church has just as much of a claim.
This recent ELCA situation is only another example of the new wine leaving the old wine skin. Your Roman church is two wine skins ago but the new wine still flows.

My home church was an ELCA member which went through the difficult process of leaving ELCA and moving to another synods. It amazes me that the pro-homosexual faction including the bishop was all about openness, discussion and allowing space as long as you agreed with them. If you asked questions and asked for an explanation of portions of Scripture and began to imply that you questioned their view you were labeled as a ignorant hick.
My brother was the president of the board at the time & met with the bishop to ask questions. He was an NCAA athlete, owns a multi-million dollar business & is on the board of directors of a regional bank that had to over see the foreclosure of several popular local business but he says none of those experiences prepared him for the condescension and arrogance of the ELCA bishop.
Now that they've "won" the vote all discussion & distension must stop. Funny where was all the talk of stopping disharmonious discussion back when they didn't have the votes to carry the day.

Wow, a pro-life Kennedy? A Kennedy who stood up for an unpopular moral issue? Impressive! Maybe this is one Kennedy who upon closer inspection of their inner life will find a soul that shines rather than just a lost soul. I'll have to read more about her.

I can't support this idea. As believers we believe in truth not not fiction! The science upon which this whole effort is built is flawed. It would be like well meaning Christians continuing to flood needy Africa with billions of dollars only to watch it all go to corrupt UN & African leaders who deposit it all in Swiss banks.
I am in favor of real ecological efforts not pretend. This appeal is no more than "we have to do something even if it is wrong". No! As believers we must be committed to real justice, real mercy & real faithfulness.

The teaching of purgatory by the Roman Church, baptism of the dead by the Mormons and snake handlers are all in the same category. Extra Biblical teachings! Not Biblical, made up!

"Rick Warren's boring and disgusting praying was an insult to the millions of Americans who voted for Obama."
Your comment tells me that you are also bored and disgusted with Him who Rick Warren addressed in his prayer. In the USA you have the freedom to do that but don't kid yourself with whom you are disgusted.

What? Doesn't the Indian government want anyone speaking out internationally about the state endorsed killing of Christians in Orrisa by Hindu radicals?

I am always amazed by so called "spiritual leaders" who used strong armed tactics for years to cram a divisive agenda down member's throats and then once they've pulled off the mutiny they have the audacity to rebuke the other side for being divisive and call for unity. Please spare me!
As Christians we do not have the power to overcome the sinful desires that lay festering in our heart. True life change only happens over time with the power of the Holy Spirit living through us. Deep heart level life-change is a struggle for all of us. Who doesn't struggle with lust, greed, jealousy, anger, materialism. 70% of committed Christians admit they struggle with this and the other 30% aren't honest. I pray for Ted that he sees healing and victory in the future. Apart from the grace of God there go I. Maybe not in this specific area but for sure in others.

I have felt for some time that the choices we have in this election are #1 a traditional Democrat or #2 a radical left wing socialist. I am not happy with McCain but I will never vote for Obama, the most radically liberal major candidate in American history.
That is not hyperbole, it is a fact, if you care enough to study the issue. Unfortunately, most do not. Most approach the the future of our country like a season of "American Idol".
Hey Mike2685 & BobTX,
When you run down Palin for lack of qualifications you only disc your man Obama. What real qualifications does he have besides being for "change". Who isn't!? I am not saying she is the most qualified VP but she is more qualified than Obama. Name one thing Obama has done? He was a community organizer? What is that? Did he set up a neighborhood watch? He did voter drives? He lobbied the school board? What? What legislation has he written?
Mike2685, what nun are you going to put forward that was a governor of a state?
Just be honest. Just say, "I hate Bush & Obama makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside when I hear him speak." That at least makes since. The rest is gibberish that you are trying to pass off as arguments!

I am presently in India and friends are in contact with believers in this state. It is not just that property is being destroyed, scores of Christians are being murdered by well organized bands of Hindu fundamentalists. These aren't just ignorant rioting mobs who got out of control. Many of those behind it are not even from the area. There is evidence that they are even paid. They are strategically working from village to village surrounding it, setting up roadblocks and then assaulting the village. The term shock troupes would not be an inaccurate description. This level of hate is almost too much to comprehend. Pray for our brothers & sisters.

To DavidHart
Obviously Obama is a great communicator and can woo people with his stage presence. But what great ideas has he put with? His experience is thinner than Palin.
The one idea I did hear from Obama is that if & when one of his daughters gets in trouble at 16 with some boy on the basketball team there only prenatal care will involve a vacuum cleaner at a women's clinic. Conveniently they will never have to endure press.

One can always pick out a few obscure passages to promote that becoming opulently wealthy from selling the gospel is God's will. However, throughout the whole teaching of Christ, he time after time exhorted his disciples to "do as I do", "follow my example" etc. He did not have a home or even a "pillow to lay his head". A child can see that these preachers have gone the opposite way of Christ.
This is why I am continually impressed with Christian leaders who sought to follow Christ in this way. Rick Warren gave back all the money Saddleback Church ever paid him in salary & has given away the vast majority of his wealth received from his books sales.
Bill Bright, the late founder & president of Campus Crusade for Christ, never once received a 6 figure income throughout his life. When at the end of his life, he received the Templeton Award along with the $1 million prize, he donated the entire amount away to world evangelism.
These men aren't perfect but they at least were doing as Christ did. These evangelists will have to give an account to the Lord someday for their greed and for leading so many astray to also pursue a life a greed.

Why is that when we hear about Christian student's beliefs being singled out in a public school that people aways start talking about leaving the godless public schools. Of course they are godless! Of course they are of this world! But aren't we as believers, including our children, called to be lights in the darkness. Jesus called us to be in the world but not of it. He did not say be ye separate.
We raised all three of our boys in "godless public schools" where they had to learn to stand up for their faith with other students, with teachers and even school administrators.
Now their faith is able to thrive in the midst of godless state universities, the godless business world & the godless military. We didn't keep our children in the spiritual "shallow end of the pool" but they learned to swim spiritually in the "deep end."

"Vengeance is mine.",says the Lord. The murders at Planned Parenthood will someday give an account before the Creator of the Universe. There will be justice! You can mock & laugh now but the day is coming.
Rev Bill, No doubt that you may be a great preacher of God Word but I bet you don't actually believe what you just wrote about being anti-technology. I bet you use light bulbs & a PA system that Jesus didn't have. I also bet you preach from a Bible printed with a printing press on paper & not hand written by leather scrolls by scribes. Jesus had none of these modern technologies. Hello, you used a computer to post your thoughts. There is nothing holy about being anti technology. It is just a matter a Christ centered use of technology. I pray that the Lord continues to bless your preaching from his Word but why not use technology if it helps to spread the Gospel?
On our own we are little more than bits of stone and glass. Together we are the Body of Christ. Holy Bible: Mosaic is an invitation to experience Christ in His Word and in the responses of his people. Each week, as you reflect on guided Scripture readings aligned with the church seasons, you will receive a wealth of insight from historical and contemporary writings.
