Just curious: Why are there so many atheistic evolutionists hanging out at Christian Post?

HampsteadPete: if you want to equate yourself with a banana (I thought we "evolved" from apes, and apes eat bananas... so hard to "keep up") far be it for me to argue with you. You might have a lot in common with a banana, who's to say? Personally, I've never had a very good conversation with a banana, I'm just saying... On a more serious note though, have you ever studied a banana? I mean the science of a banana tree and its fruit? You should. Trees are incredibly complex and amazing! The "simple" cell - ever studied that? Wow - nothing "simple" about it. One question, from a "typically arrogant Christian" (that's your term, and I must say that it makes YOU sound a tad "arrogant") to the cousin of a banana: how does the "theory of evolution" answer to symbiotic relationships? Relationships where one's existence RELIES on the other's?? There are MANY of these relationships for you to look at, find some, and let me know, ok?

May the love of the Lord Jesus Christ overcome my sarcasm and reach your heart with His love and truth.

    Citizen -

Is that the best you've got? Your one sentence response to my lengthy comment (Thu Jan 24, 2008 8:19 am ) leads me to believe that my argument has much more substance that anything you have offered. Can't you respond, in a reasoned manner, to the various point that I put forth?

Don't wantt to give you too much to think about but would like to add this:

Science is nothing more nor less that a hypothesis which is tested and either validated or invalidated. If it is validated, further testing is required... with enough data validating the hypothesis, it becomes "theory," perhaps even "law," but never "truth." Don't believe me? How about when the scientific world believed that the world was flat? Scientific theory or law holds only up to that point where information previously unknown becomes known and changes the equation. This is called progression.

The idea that we are designed with perfection and purpose is supported by everything we observe in "life," down to the incredibly complex "simple cell." These observations are evidence of some higher purpose, a creator.

If we are the result of random and "spontaneous" ("billions of years" of spontaneity, mind you), then it's pointless for you and I to even argue about this. Life is a meaningless progression of change for the sake of change and human life is no more significant than the "life" of the chair I'm sitting on.

If on the other hand there is a perfect Creator who has designed all of life with this perfection and purpose, perhaps we had better discover want he wants us to know.

    SummaTheologica -

Just visited the site you linked to, Evangelicals For Mitt, and I've got to say, all I find there is politics and politicking... Am I missing something?

Ron Paul has been very courteous to Mitt Romney, even stating in interviews that Romney's Mormonism should have absolutley nothing to do with whether or not to vote for the man. He said that if people were applying a "religious test" that would be wrong, and unconstitutional. On the other hand, Romney has laughed at, and insulted Dr. Paul during live debates. He even went so far one time as to question Dr. Paul's loyalties, suggesting that he was "...reading Ahmadinajad's talking points." I found that very immature for a Presidential candidate, schoolyard-bullyish, not to mention how offensive it was considering what an intelligent and patriotic man Dr. Paul is.

Then there's the whole question of fiscal conservatism. Didn't Romey just win Michigan by promising them lots of our money?? We need sound ideas, not soundbites. We need a plan that will get this country back om track - fast!

Ron Paul has such a plan, and his plan doesn't rely on more debt and bigger government: www.ronpaul2008.com/Prosperity

Could you post a link to Mitt Romney's Statement of Faith? I would like to compare it to Ron Paul's, posted at Covenant News: http://www.covenantnews.com/ronpaul070721.htm

This request goes out to supporters of all other candidates. I promise to read your candidate's Statement of Faith but ask that you do the same and read Dr. Paul's too, please.

By not supporting Ron Paul's legislation to return the issue of abortion to the States, as dictated by the Constitution, we are consenting, albeit indirectly, to abortion in EVERY State. How many innocents would have been spared this death sentence if the citizens iof each State had been given the right to decide this question years ago? How many millions have died while we have insisted on waiting for the "RIGHT Supreme Court Justice!".... ??

Ron Paul had delivered more than 4000 babies in his lifetime. He has never once performed an abortion, nor has he ever seen a situation where an abortion was required to save the life of the mother (these are his own words). Stop being fooled by those with a vested interest in shutting him up. Find out for yourself, as the Lord directs us to do! (you shall know them by the fruit they bear) www.ronpaul2008.com/issues

Ron Paul is the "...only candidate left that isn't a member of the CFR. I'm surprised he has got this far, but this group obviously underestimated him. ..."

I really believe that after years of faithful service to the truth, standing on Christ's promise, ignored and ridiculed by his peers year after year after year, I believe that God has rewarded him by allowing him to see that he is NOT alone after all!

We can't know what God's plans are, and I wouldn't dare guess, but whether Ron Paul gets the nomination or not, no one can say that they haven't been warned.

I wish, with all of my heart, that the Lord begins to open the eyes and hearts of those calling themselves Christians, that they may be made to see how badly they have been deceived by the world. Then, may we fall down on our knees and ask God's forgiveness once more for our foolishness and pride, so that maybe we can finally start being what Jesus asked of us: salt and light in the world.

God bless you truthandjustice1 - and thanks for your words :)

Ron Paul's consistent, Christian honesty is already getting him "in trouble" with the establishment, (political AND religious establishment) but if he were to attempt to manipulate the process he would cease to be the man of integrity his is. Catch-22. Trust God!

Ron Paul and the prostitutes! Oh my!!

Let me ask you a question: did the Pharisees not condemn even Jesus Christ because the publicans and prostitutes flocked to him? Should our Lord have chased them away?!

Please don't be so easily manipulated by the world, a world I might add that hates what this good and decent man stands for: honesty, integrity, responsible leadership, good stewardship, sound money, the Constitution, liberty, freedom, and peace.

Ron Paul is a true brother in Christ and I believe that he is being maligned and marginalized precisely for that reason.

Go here to read his Statement of Faith: www.covenantnews.com/ronpaul070721.htm

I urge my brothers and sisters in Christ to visit this Covenant News link and read Rep Paul's Statement of Faith. Dr. Paul has been a faithful servant throughout his life. He has served 10 terms as a Republican in the US House of Representatives, and never once voted for anything he believed was unconstitutional. He doesn't participate in the congressional pension plan, takes NO money from lobbyists, returns a portion of his congressional budget EVERY year. He is truly a breath of fresh air in a world where we've become accustomed to politicians lying once they get in office! I believe that the reason that he is being marginalized, indeed maligned, is BECAUSE he is a true, and faithful, brother in Christ.

Please, this is a good and honorable man with a lengthy track record which proves his word is good. (You shall judge them by the fruit they produce)

This is important! With what we are facing, economically, we don't need more sound bites, we need sound ideas! Please, if not for yourself, then for your children and grandchildren, read this through: www.ronpaul2008.com/Prosperity

And don't be misled! This man is a true brother in Christ as his lenghty record (his "FRUIT") attests. Why do you think they choose to mock him? Scripture doesn't tell us to trust others to make our decisions for us, God tells us that WE are to judge a man by his fruit. Find out for yourself.

God does not "test" us, He asks only that we trust Him when the world tests us. Jesus has been tested in our place and He was victorious! TRUST in the power of the completed work if Christ!

Fear is not of the Lord. Standing on our own strength we will fail, but in Christ all things are possible! Dare we jugde our brothers and sisters in Christ? We, who have never faced anything that compares to the persecution they are under? No! Instead, pray daily that the Lord strengthen and protect them, pray daily that God removes our foolishness and focuses our mnds and our hearts on His righteousness.

Father, in the precious name of Jesus we ask that you use us this day, that Your Holy Spirit begin to make us true "salt and light" in this world that others may see and know Your strength, Your power, Your love. Remove from us, dear Lord, fear of the world's "boogeymen," fill us with your love, give us hearts for Your will. Teach us how to love our enemies, Lord, bring to our minds the faith of those three Hebrew boys who trusted You completely and were shown Your power, who saw Your very presence in the fire with them, and escaped unharmed! Lord, please let us to stop focusing on the bad things in this world and redirect our gaze, continually, to focus on Your completed work in Christ Jesus. We thank you for all You have done, for all You are doing, for all that You have promised to do in our lives, make us willing and useful to You in this world. Lord we ask that You open our eyes and our hearts that we will recognize those who bravely stand with You, that we may support them with our love and our prayers! Do not allow us to foolishly trust in the world's institutions, remind us that we are fully owned by You, and that You alone are worthy! In the name of Jesus. Amen

"Ron Paul comes down from the Mount holding the tablets engraved with the constitution..."

Oh! I'm sorry if I've caused any confusion here, the terms I've used (isolationist VS non-inteventionist; [friendly trade] alliances VS entangling [meddling in the internal politics of sovereign nations] alliances) CAN cause misunderstandings without the right context... It was the TEN COMMANDMENTS that were carved in stone, but I was actually talking about the US Constitution.

The Founders warned that we'd lose the Republic if we failed to pay attention, and I suppose we've proven them right.

As to your jab at Ron Paul supporters:

Are you suggesting we are all nuts because to be elated to hear a politician - ANY politician - speak the truth!? Oh boy, that's another one of those terms: "truth," so for clarity's sake, "truth" here is not meant in a Messianic way as in the Lord saying, "I am the Truth," instead I'm talking in human terms, you know, about a statesman that stands for the principles that made this country great: limited gov't, fiscally conservative, life [ALL life], liberty, etc..

Dr. Paul has been speaking the same consistent truth for almost 30 years. (no "canned speeches," no sound bites, just the plain, simple truth while his fellow congressman laugh and spend us into oblivion...)

Its very rare for anyone to stand on principle these days, especially when its not popular, and I don't know about anyone else but I find that refreshing and yes, even inspiring: his courage makes ME want to be a better person.

He's a decent, humble and honorable "man." Is he perfect? Heck no! He is honest though and that places him above most men in positions of power, and honesty still stands for something, doesn't it?

Should I be ashamed for admiring his integrity? Should I feel stupid for hoping he reaches more of us with his call for a speedy return to the Constitution? Of course not, but there sure are a lot of people that imply I should.

Instead of arguing with me, why don't you spend some time reading what he says on his "issues" page. Or, you could check his record - how has he voted, and why? You'll discover that every vote, for or against, has always aligned with the Constitution.

I've probably already stated this clearly enough but in ending let me reiterate:

Anyone who can serve 10-terms in Congress and not be "changed" by that power, who can continually stand up for the documents that distiguished the American form of government from every other government in history, (while others take handouts, waste the taxpayers money, and deride his standards!), well, personally I think such a person deserves our respect. (it's late, please excuse any typos)

Not only is there a huge difference between isolationist and non-interventionist, there is a like difference between "alliances" and "entangling alliances."

Have you read the US Constitution, or is that something we no longer need?

Good morning Citizen and thanks for your "analysis" (using the term loosely here)

So now we are comparing the lives of newly created human beings to.... plants and vegetables? Okay...

Would I be correct in assuming that you are an adherent of the theory that completely random acts of mass, evolving over billions of years is the only explanation for why we are here? Of course, if we ARE all random bits of evolutionary accident, then it makes sense to equate human life with plantlife, with diseased dogs, cats, cows... etc. I, on the other hand, believe that God created man in His image, "above all creation, just below the angels," and that He further created each "after its kind."

You take it even further by assuming that one who equates the taking of human life with murder (morally speaking, of course since the law has made this form of murder "legal"), that such a person would consider our national defense to be unimportant (ie: equate soldiers with terrorists) - wow. Rather than call my arguments absurd, don't you think you should explain your own a bit better??

My initial response was to your emotianally-charged "radical Christian terrorist" comment. You might have noticed that in the NEXT paragraph I stated very clearly that anyone utilizing violence to end violence was wrong and that a Christian to do so would make him/her a living, breathing contradiction.

Let's be really clear though: defensive use of force is not violence, (as in defending the nation, defending your property, etc.), the use of offensive force is an act of violence.

In summary then, I eat both animal and vegetable, believing that God created them for our nourishment, and in the case of animal: with strict rules for the human taking of life... (this "humane" taking of animal life would include vetranarians and slaughterhouses using methods which would not be considered "cruel").

I believe that one of the limited functions of government, as laid out in the Constitution, is to provide for the national defense, that is to act in defense only against another nation and not "pre-emptively" which is just another term for offensively, which is wrong.

Have to run for awhile, I'll check back later. Hope you have a really great day!
