Yay! I love Huckabee. He's great. I hope he goes on to do wonderful things. And I hope he's a guest on the Colbert Report a lot in the future too :P

Citizen, people who have transplants take medications their whole lives to prevent their own imune systems from attacking and killing the new organ this is in their body. They have to use chemicals to trick their body into thinking that this new organ is a part of the body because the body naturally knows that it is not and wants to destroy it. And it fetuses weren't protected in the womb, a woman's body would do the same thing. And in very very rare cases, that happens resulting in a miscarriage.

Sorry, but Ron Paul is not unshakably pro-life: he's against the Pro-life amendment to the Constitution. He thinks that states should decide whether or not abortion should be legal, which is better than what we have now, but it's not great either. In essence, he thinks states should have the freedom to "choose." Indeed some states would ban abortion but many would not. And he's fine with that. It's either killing a human life or it isn't and if it is then why should we allow states to choose to do it. That's awful.

Mike Huckabee, on the other hand IS PRO-LIFE!

Abortion is never "the right, or the only decision," Citizen. It is always a choice which is of course why the abortion activists coined the term "pro-choice."

It's so nice to hear someone in the public (and for that matter, someone who has a chance of being our next president) who doesn't kowtow to the political correctness of the day where no one can say what they think without being afraid of offending anyone. The Human Rights Campaign attack him and blast his comments as "hateful" but Huckabee stands by what he says and says what he means and doesn't cave in to the pressure of these activists. It's very refreshing and it encourages me to know that there are still people willing to stand up and fight for what is good in this world. Go Huckabee!

Ok, you're right, Clarson00. His degree is not technically a theology degree. But it is a degree in Religion from a theological seminary. So what exactly is the big deal? It's not like he said he had a degree in Biology or something that wasn't even close to theology. And compared to everyone around him on that stage, he would be the best qualified to answer questions of a theological nature. I think you need to simmer down. There is a difference between "a bald face lie" and misspeaking. And if that's the worst thing you can find about him, then that just shows what a good guy he is. He has my vote!

In my opinion, HyperionOverseer, Huckabee is the best. You can check out his positions on his website if you're not familiar with him. And if he did become our next president, I think it would be a blessing to our nation that we desperately need but don't deserve. He's still a long shot, especially in the anti-Republican environment we're in now, but I think that if the election came to Hillary vs. Huckabee, he may have a chance. She comes across as cold and calculating to most people while Huckabee's warm and inviting demeanor could charm the electorate. Again, it's a long shot but by no means impossible.

I really think Huckabee is the most talented and most genuine Christian who has had the chance to become president in a very long time. I try to pray for him and his campaign and on his website he asks fellow Christians to pray for him and thanks those that do. When have you ever heard of a politician doing such a thing? That's why I love him. I truly admire the strength and courage he has in proclaiming his faith in such a secular (and at times anti-Christian) environment.

    Huckabee is wonderful!!!!!

I don't know what Catalyst is talking about because Huckabee has taken a strong Christian position on nearly every issue I can think of. And most of the secular media think that his devout and unwaivering Christian positions are going to be his downfall, yet he continues to stand by his beliefs. If he weren't a real Christian, as Catalyst suggests, why would he remain strident on what everyone thinks is his biggest weakness? And why would he continue to boldly proclaim to everyone of his Christian faith when practical political wisdom says to keep it out of the public arena? No, Catalyst, Huckabee is one of the best candidates that we as the Christian Right has ever produced.

And as far as Tom Tancredo goes, he is not as solid as you claim. (I agree with you about Hunter, but he's kind of a poor speaker) No, Tancredo has said that we should drop a nuclear bomb on Mecca. That is neither a good idea in terms of our security as a nation, nor a very Christian position. And his position on immigration is getting dangerously close to racism. Now, I'm for securing the borders as much as anyone (building a wall and the whole bit) but Tancredo's rhetoric sounds like he's playing to the anti-Hispanic crowd. I'm not doubting Tancredo's faith, I just don't think he'd make a very good spokesman for Christians in America.

Rebecca, I totally agree with you! Abortion is either a moral issue, or it isn't. Federalism is a great idea for a lot of problems, but not moral imperatives. It bothers me that the National Right to Life Committee would choose Thompson over Huckabee only because they think Thompson has a better chance of winning (and that's only because he has more money.) I hope Huckabee wins and I'm praying for him and his campaign :)

    Hey Feetxxxl,

I wish what you said in your comment was accurate to the reality but unfortunately it isn't. Here's some stats from the American College of Pediatricians:

-"Homosexual partnerships are significantly more prone to dissolution than heterosexual marriages with the average homosexual relationship lasting only two to three years." That doesn't bode well for trying to raise children in a stable home. Yes, many people get divorced too, but why should we add to the problem?

-"Violence among homosexual partners is two to three times more common than among married heterosexual couples." If domestic violence rates are higher, that also is not a healthy environment for children.

-"Children reared in homosexual households are more likely to experience sexual confusion, practice homosexual behavior, and engage in sexual experimentation. Adolescents and young adults who adopt the homosexual lifestyle, like their adult counterparts, are at increased risk of mental health problems, including major depression, anxiety disorder, conduct disorder, substance dependence, and especially suicidal ideation and suicide attempts" If the children who have already been raised in these environments are showing problems, we should take that as a sign that this might not be a good idea. You can read more information about it here: http://www.acpeds.org/?CONTEXT=art&cat=22&art=50

As far as previous historical understandings, I am not aware of a single society that did not collapse within one to two generations after redefining marriage. We are walking on dangerously thin ice. If one man and one woman are required to biologically create a child, and one man and one woman are needed to raise a child.

  • Uplifting Movie 'Bella' Praised for Pro-Family Messages

    Desi06 »
    Sun Oct 28, 2007 4:01 pm Agree: 5   Disagree: 0

Whoa! Jump back! I think you need to simmer down, dannygirlagain. I don't know about you but I saw this movie last night and it was good and I didn't just think so because I'm a Catholic. It wasn't the best movie I've ever seen but it was enjoyable. It was subtle and artful but had a clear point of view. And encouraging Christians to go see the rare movie that is going to uplift us rather than mock our faith is a good thing. Money talks and by supporting movies that show traditional Christian values such as love and family in a good light, we can show movie executives that there is a market for that kind of movie. But even more than that, this movie can stand alone as being a good movie! And usually people like to see good movies :)

I think the Christians are "going ga ga," as you said, about this family friendly movie because there just aren't many movies made that line up with what we believe as Christians. So we get excited about the one that comes out every few years as compared to the hundreds of movies that come out every year that contain non-Christian messages. Albeit, many of those are good and enjoyable movies too! And I don't think this movie will get anyone saved as you suggest, since it was not really about Christianity. But it might make some women reconsider getting an abortion.

Now, as far as your ad hominem attacks on the Catholic Church, I wish you'd refrain from your rants and baseless insults but you are free to say whatever nonsense you think. I won't flag you. But I don't think too many people agree with you since your comment sounds pretty crazy. Maybe you should check your facts before you make such ridiculous claims.
