• To Catch Fish, Learn to Think Like Them
akonda said:This whole method of trying to appeal to sinful flesh in order to bring them to Christ is deceptive. Very similar to how businesses operate. Get to know your customers and give them what they want and lure them into church. But hey, it works so no one should complain. Right?
Wrong...but I really like your well thot out response to Rick. When we undertake to be LIKE the world in order to "reel them in" then I question the tactics as well.

The plain ole truth has always worked for me, and I'm sure that God feels the same way. If there is a willing mind, one can reach them with the plain words of scripture, and not need to dum down the seriousness of NOT taking God at His Word.

I find this approach of making the CROSS somehow "palatable and pretty" a real offense in and of itself, but then , that's just me.

My Bible tells me that I "have been MADE the righteousness of God in HIM", and that I "am complete in HIM". I find it curious that people still make it about OUR behavior and performance, rather than HIS as to whether or not we ARE HOLY. The only "holiness" we HAVE is being IN the ONLY HOLY ONE.

If God waited until we all had "clean hands" and NO sin in our lives, He would be bored to tears and have NO one to work with. The glory and wonder of it all is that He works with sinful man who has had an IDENTITY CHANGE THRU belief in the all sufficient ONE who imputes the necessary righteousness as a GIFT upon the BELIEVER!

Thats the GOOD NEWS! Anything else is just back to works and works nullifies GRACE and "makes the CROSS of none effect."

  • 5 Common Growth Barriers Churches Deal With

    Amen BOC,

People seem to forget that the church isn't a building made with hands, as is so commonly taught today, but a NEW CREATION. A body created BY GOD consisting of individual members who have believed in the "gospel of OUR salvation" as given to Paul for we who ARE His Body.

God is not interested in numbers folks...hes interested in people BELIEVING the gospel of the dispensation of the GRACE of God and being saved thru the finished work of Christ.

God "desires that all men be saved ....AND AND AND that they come to a full knowledge (epignosis) of the truth"...this can only be accomplished thru knowing where OUR specific information is found.

Please visit our forum at www.graceteacher.com for further information and edification, where we study the Bible GOD'S Way 2 Tim 2:15, and where we seek to join God in HIS Goal of "making ALL men SEE what IS the fellowship of the Mystery...." Eph. 3:9

Since when do we base our Christianity on OUR behavior and make US the focus of its validity, instead of teaching the sound doctrine of the gospel of OUR salvation and the Cross of Christ.

The church has made the mistake of thinking that we are supposed to get people to LOOK AT how wonderful WE are, instead of showing people how wonderful HE is.

I'd say this is why people don't listen .....NOT because of the other things listed.

We have gotten away from the simplicity that is in Christ, and are preaching another gospel and another jesus.

Agrees with BOC wholeheartedly. When we all line ourselves up with Gods criteria for salvation and a right relationship with Himself, it leaves little room for the "tolerance doctrines" taught by the so called "churches" of today.

Church is no longer a safe place, as most professing christians are not possessing ones....ie: they claim the name but not the LIFE of Christ thru faith in His finished work as the ONLY means by which any are saved.
