That is the difference. The saved person has repented and turned to God in all matters of life, while the unsaved has yet to repent and turn to God. Some “good things” that happen in an unsaved person’s life could very well be that which causes them to acknowledge God and therefore actively seek Him. Why shouldn’t God show his goodness to all? After all, it is His Will that no one perish and all come to repentance. (2Pet3:9) It is our choice to recognize and chose to follow Him.less

gd wrote: So being a Christian isn't about the salvation He can give me? Through Jesus God made salvation available for all who repent and turn to God. He may have made it available, but it is up to us to receive it, accept it and now give back by our desire to live according to His Word.

  • Christians Need to Prepare for Normalization of Gay Marriage

While homosexuality is relatively a new word, it is not a false teaching. In fact, our apostle Paul ran into the very same problem when writing about same sex relations. In order for Paul to give the reader understanding, he used two words from the OT and basically created a new word. So should his creation of this new word be rejected as false teaching? In order for Paul to give the reader understanding, he used two words from the OT and basically created a new word. So should his creation of this new word be rejected as false teaching? The meaning of the word Homosexuality is understood by today’s reader, which is and always has been an act that has been taught to abstain from in the OT and the NT.less

In OT times, God’s people were expected to adhere to His laws (Letter of the Law/physical) and the punishment for disobeying was exacted while Jesus being crucified on the cross brought in a new covenant of the Spirit (Spirit of Law). We, as God’s chosen people of a new covenant, recognize that death is now a spiritual death. One is not put to death physically for disobedience but Spiritually by their choices to live in sin. And God’s people are now given the task to lead people out of Spiritual death and into life in Him.less

  • $1K Offered to Find 'Separation of Church and State'

In 1878, the courts began citing Jefferson’s “separation” letter, although upholding it’s intent. “The rightful purposes of civil government are for its officers to interfere with religion only when its principals break out into overt acts against peace and good order. In 1878, the courts began citing Jefferson’s “separation” letter, although upholding it’s intent. “The rightful purposes of civil government are for its officers to interfere with religion only when its principals break out into overt acts against peace and good order. In this …is found the true distinction between what properly belongs to Church and what to the State…Congress was deprived of all legislative power over mere religious opinion, but was left free to reach religious actions which were in violation of social duty or subversive of good order.”
It was not until 1947, when the Supreme Court interpreted the “separation” phrase to remove religious expression from the public arena.
In 1962 the court began redefining the individual words in the phrase.
IN 1963 the court concluded “If portions of the New Testament were read without explanation, they could be and…had been psychologically harmful to the child (student)… “
Washington warned, “Let it be simply asked, Where is the security for property, for reputation, for life, if the sense of religious obligation desert the oaths which are instruments of investigation in the courts of justice?”less

Separation of Church and State has been hijacked by the very courts that the Founding fathers believed should hold government in check to the public arena. Jefferson in his letter to the Dansbury Basptists never intended his words to be interpreted ‘religion (Christianity) should be left out of government. In his own words, he believed and understood the Baptist Association’s concerns that the teaching of the Scriptures would never be subject to government rule. Jefferson, himself, believed that without the teaching of the Word in society, society could not be free.
John Adams, later spoke that the ‘Constitution was only for a moral and religious people…It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other’.
George Washington also warned that without the support (pillar) of religion. “Let us with caution indulge the supposition that morality can be maintained without religion. Whatever may be conceded to the influence of refined education….reason and experience both forbid us to expect that national morality can prevail in exclusion of religious principal”.
Dr. Benjamin Rush; “The Father of the Public Schools under the Constitution”, even warned, “In contemplating the political institutions of the United States, if we remove the Bible from schools, I lament that we waste much time and money punishing crimes and take so little pains to prevent them.”
Noah Webster also stated in a textbook he authored; “All the miseries and evils which men suffer from vice, crime, ambition, injustice, oppression, slavery, and war, proceed from their despising or neglecting the precepts contained in the Bible”.
It was also the first Congress that ordered the printing of the Holy Bible to be taught in all public schools.less
