Just for the record, I do not believe Jones' act was in line with biblical principles. Be that as it may, when are we going to face the fact that Islam does not need any reasonable excuses for their behavior, that in following their credo they are called to wage war on infidels. Even within their own numbers the different sects call each other infidels. Nothing we do, or don't do, will change their aims. The religion of "peace" aims to see the world belong to Islam, and infidels submit or die. It's in their "sacred" books and writings, and when the imam calls for jihad they must respond.less

Let me inform you of something -- when HIV/aids was first diagnosed and we began understanding this disease, it wasn't know to us as "the gay man's disease". It was known as being a disease prevalent in the homosexual population, because that's where it was. That helped identify the segment that was in desperate need of education, because that disease HAS NO CURE. "Toxic" to acknowledge that you say? Not hardly, in the health profession. WE don't care if the need is in the gay population, the pediatric population, or the Martian population -- it's only relevant for care needs, education, and any special needs associated due to that. That's the kind of thing that "REAL health professionals" know. When you've been in the profession as long as I have, then you can talk to me about these things. In the meantime, I know so much more about it then you ever will, in spite of google. So get over it.

And by the way, I was practicing "universal precautions" before you were born, literally. It was basically HIV/aids that brought that general concept into a full-blown definitive, named procedure. But in our profession, that general concept was practiced on a daily basis as a routine health precaution in health settings like hospitals and clinics.

And as far as MRSA goes, you need to do some more googling. Some of our hardest battles have involved this nasty staph bacteria. It is truly a scourge. But then, googling hasn't banished your ignorance in this area, obviously.

You are not interested in gaining true insight and knowledge, you are interested in looking for things to back your causes, for ammunition to prove your superiority. As long as that is all you pursue, you will lose out on true wisdom. I pity you for your narrow views, your inability to see beyond your biases, your insistence on appearing all-knowing. You are the loser in all of that.less

WE know a lot more about it's ability to spread than YOU do, how it spreads, and how to prevent it. You can continue all you want to deny the fact that there are special health problems in distinct groupings of the population -- in which case, I'm most certainly glad you are not a member of our profession. In reading your posts, it is apparent that you have some pretty amazing biases in an amazing number of areas. You think that you can google a subject and, presto! you're an expert on the subject! I've caught you more than once using an article that in the main actually argues against the point you're are insisting upon, but you never even studied the article so you didn't know that, because you honed in on a statement and just used that. Google does not make you an instant expert, but you apparently have yet to discover that.

You are a good example of why people so seldom give out personal information on this site. You use it to denigrate and belittle, all for the purpose of making yourself appear as some intelligent guru who has the answers to everything. You need to grow up and quit thinking you are so superior to everyone else.less

As for vasectomy, there will never be a l00% reversal rate. You never answered if you know what the vas deferens is, but it's a very tiny tube, and trying to reanastamose that little tube can certainly end up in blockage, due to scar tissue for one reason. Currently, I'm not sure what the reversal rate is, but reversal is possible for sure, and is accomplished pretty frequently. It is certainly not recommended as a temporary birth control measure, it is after all surgery, though considered a minor surgical procedure.less

Well gd, you're just proving my point. All this political correct garbage is getting in the way of educating the gay population about their own particular problems. Because the health specific problems of gays no longer have a term to identify them, they are extremely hard to get information on, which is of great deteriment to that very same population. It's homophobic of me to use a term to get information, when that term was used for so long? Pahh.....I say it's homophobic that we don't use SOME term, ANY term, to help the gays find good sources for their special health needs. I couldn't care less where the information is found, all I care about is that accurate information CAN be found. You couldn't find it -- so quit your griping.

I did not say that some of these diseases are not curable. I said some are found only in the gay population, i.e. LGV. Here in the states, it is in the gay population. Only.

Perhaps you need to read up more on MRSA. Very nasty stuff, found as a nosocomial infection particularly in hospitals for many many years, is generally very difficult to get rid of as it has become very antibiotic resistant. Found in gays in cavities that it is NOT found in non gays. You apparently don't think this is a problem.

I spent a lot of time getting this information for you. If you wish to push it off as unimportant, making excuses in order to justify your stance, have at it. Ignorance is bliss, and to underscore the peculiar problems of incidence in hugely disproportionate amounts in the gay population is to add to their health issues, not help it. You know, I was working in a hospital when HIV/aids was first discovered, and it was peculiar to the homosexual population. To this day, the incidence of new cases is still greatly weighed in the MSM population, as is syphillis, gonnerhea, hepatitis, and many many more. Closing our eyes to this fact of life is tragic. You can either be part of the problem or part of the cure. Quit erecting road blocks, open your eyes, admit the health problems are there, because ignoring them will not make them disappear.

And one further note. If HIV information was suppressed back in the 80's due to an idea such as this one: "Medical Bias in the Health Care of Gay Men (1999), saying that "gay bowel syndrome has been, and remains today, a powerful tool for the specific surveillance, regulation, definition, medicalization, identification, and fragmentation of gay men's bodies" , how truly devastating the results of that cover up would have been.less

You don't teach your son repression. I see. Does this mean you let him kick you? I'm a grandmother, I know more than you do about what toddlers understand, had quite a bit of experience at it. Though I'm a firm believer at teaching reasons, etc., the reality is that until kids are able to learn to set limits on themselves, it is the parents responsibility to set the limits for them. That is what a parent does -- he teaches, and then holds the child responsible. The world certainly will when he grows up, better for them to learn self discipline and problem solving skills at home, by far. Being in the medical profession, I abhor misleading information that covers up health facts. My priority will always be to educate to address health issues, but certain behaviors just flat out guarantee increased health problems, and you can't force people to take issues seriously that they would rather deny. Tolerance will never, in and of itself, solve these kinds of issues, that is a smoke screen.
