He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him. But whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God perfected: hereby know we that we are in him. He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked. 1 John 2:4-6
But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves. For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass: For he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was. "Just a thought here---since you believe tithing leads to a sort of super-spirituality/" Don't know where you got that idea. Why does God favor some people and not others? Answer: Obedience. You bring up Christians in other parts of the world who live in poverty and ask are they less Christian? Well, think about this for a moment. What is the most prosperous nation in the world? The U.S.A. Why is that? It is because the founding fathers set up a government based on Christian values that allowed freedom, freedom from oppressive governments and allowed freedom of worship, assembly and speech. Lots of other countries suffer under oppressive and corrupt governments. America has a Christian foundation and a strong church. The church in America gives more money to missions and sends more people to share the gospel than any other country. But America is put down by the secular world because of her Christian beliefs, yet we still prosper.

Because the Lord prospers me I have money to buy a computer connect to the internet so that I can create web sites and produce messages and publications that teach the word which in turn bless people all over the world. I could not do this if I was only expecting God to take care of my spiritual needs. God is interested in the whole person spiritual, physical and financial. Because of God's financial blessing I can travel to another city, province, or country and share God's word there. Every teacher or preacher should speak on the subjects that the Lord lays on their hearts. Thus, if the Lord tells me to teach his people about how to prosper then that is what I will teach. If the Lord gives you a different topic to speak about, then do what he say. But it is not up to you to decide what others should preach and to teach. That is between them and the Lord for every one will have to stand before the judgment seat of Christ and give an account.
If the Bible tells us how we can prosper and improve our lives for us, our families and our communities and have the resources to fund those who carry the message of the gospel around the world then we should not neglect this topic. Your suggestion that prosperity is based on law and not grace can easily be defeated. Is salvation by law or grace. You would answer: by grace. OK, then is everybody automatically saved? You answer: No, only those who repent, believe that God raised Jesus from the dead and confess that Jesus is their Lord. Oh, so a person has to meet certain conditions to be saved? Yes. OK, the same applies to any other promise we have from God; meet God's conditions and as a result you will receive.
Go ahead and continue to deny that God prospers those who obey him and meet his conditions. But you can not deny the evidence: people like myself.less

Daniel,
It is interesting talking to you because you fail to see the point of my original post. In this article a theologian complains that most Christians are infected with the idea that God cares about their physical and financial circumstances and helps them in their daily lives rather than thinking that they must suffer through their hardships; that God's concern and help is only spiritual and not physical or financial. But how do Christians get this idea that God will help them prosper? They get it from the Bible.
For instance we can read Deuteronomy 28:
It shall happen, if you shall listen diligently to the voice of THE LORD your God, to observe to do all his commandments which I command you this day, who THE LORD your God will set you on high above all the nations of the earth: and all these blessings shall come on you, and overtake you, if you shall listen to the voice of THE LORD your God. Deuteronomy 28:1-2
