Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free. (JN 8:32)
What is a "Dawkins Atheist?" Presumably it's like a "New Atheist" or a "Militant Atheist"- an atheist who writes books that nobody has to read, but because his ideas are unpopular, we need a more indemnifying term than merely "atheist." At this rate, the Christian Post will be calling them "Baby-Eating Atheists" and then at least they'll be being honest about what they think.
Um, listen, Christians. Let me tell you what I hear from evangelicals these days and then you can tell me why people shouldn't stereotype Christians. College professors are all evil relativists who preach Marxism, hate Christianity, and encourage homosexuality. Most public school teachers, too. Atheists are all deeply immoral, perverse relativists who hate Christianity because they want to live lives of unpunished, unbridled hedonism.
Gays are all psychologically disturbed and all have AIDS.
Muslims are terrorists, and if they aren't, they should be.
Obama and all Democrats are socialist communist neo-fascists who want the United Nations to take away everybody's guns, impose a global currency, outlaw Christianity, and sacrifice children to Ba'al.
Catholics are all Pope-worshiping idolaters who have never read the Bible.
Grow up, kids. You just got a taste of your own medicine, and by God have you ever earned it.less

You can't eat a Bible. You can't feed your starving children with a Bible. You can't warm your freezing family with a Bible. Prayers and Bibles don't cure waterborne illnesses, medicine does. Christian charities will throw away your money on Bibles and other nonsense. Take Dawkins's advice: ACTUALLY HELP PEOPLE. Prayer is for Christians who want to sit around and chat to their folded hands for thirty seconds so they feel better about themselves because they're too lazy to get off their fat butts and actually work to help their fellow humans. Don't waste your time with this hocus pocus: give your money to charities that won't defecate away your money to appease gullible religious fools. hide
Christians shoot abortion doctors and protest the funerals of soldiers, a mentally-ill nihilist shoots a Congresswoman, Muslims have a crime rate a fraction that of Protestants- and it's Muslims who we're worried about "radicalizing?" Trust me, nobody today is either better-armed or angrier than the Christian right. Sarah Palin puts crosshairs over congresspeople, but Muslims are the problem? This...more

Trust me, nobody today is either better-armed or angrier than the Christian right. Sarah Palin puts crosshairs over congresspeople, but Muslims are the problem? This is a joke. This is how racial scapegoating starts- arousing suspicion in the disingenuous guise of "hearings." No, I get this backwards sometimes- maybe racial scapegoating starts with perpetual detention without trial of American citizens. I keep getting those two confused.
I want to have hearings about how many Christians actually want to murder abortion doctors. I want to have hearings about how many Christians take Leviticus 20:13 seriously enough to murder homosexuals. I want to know why Baptists have such a catastrophically high crime and divorce rate. Maybe if I race-bait enough about self-satisfied white southerners just like King here has race-baited about Muslims for his entire miserable career, I can get a national hysteria about a tiny ethnic minority started, too. (And this IS about ethnicity- ever seen a picture of a light-skinned Muslim on a conservative news site? Me neither, at least not since the "American Taliban.")less
The headline of this article should have been "No Religion Campaign Unnecessary, says people who require religion to be popular in order to keep the donations coming." That would have been honest about how sadly amusing this article is: these "Theos" clowns are saying that the utter rejection of Theos's foundational premise is "unnecessary." The majority of Britons, on the other hand, think that g...more

Steveh20, I don't see the difference. 2theotherside, you are a crying child. It is not my opinion that Mississippi, by every objective measure, is a cesspool, an indignant blot on the face of this great nation. 2theotherside, you are a crying child. It is not my opinion that Mississippi, by every objective measure, is a cesspool, an indignant blot on the face of this great nation. The dead pro-slavery empire that surrounds it, the failed insurrection of racist rich landowners, has left the south an impoverished, conservative place, and you're saying that pointing that out somehow makes me "bigoted" or "hateful" towards the victims of this dead ideology. Grow up and come back when you have something useful to say.less
One of the poorest, least educated, fattest, most superstitious states in the country is the most conservative. All of the states clustered around the Confederacy seem to suffer from this appalling mix of failure and conservatism. Why are so many failed states so conservative?
Readers of this article should note carefully that the main objection from the foil of this article, author Dawn Stefanowicz, is that she was uncomfortable with a homosexual father because people like you made her feel unwelcome about it. That's the last objection that Christians have these days: that we're too mean to let gay couples exist.
This is about the level of seriousness that Christianity in America has come to. I would be generous in saying that this clown is a conscious fraud aware of the childishness of his claims, because if he isn't a deliberate fraud just trying to get attention, then he is seriously a candidate for one of the dumbest people on the planet. I suppose he can choose which way he'd like it.
I do seem to notice that the Republicans are all about small government until the inadmissible notion of a woman possessing her own uterus comes up. Well done, Christian Post, you've confirmed my low opinion of political conservatism quite nicely.
I'm trying to think of the last prayer that problem solved, but I can't think of any. Hard word, time, money, and real effort seem to be much more efficacious. If prayer is effective, then why do anything else? If you get hungry, just pray to be sated. You analogize its efficacy to that of a ballistic weapon, so surely the list it can do is fill an empty tummy. Why, I'll ask you for even less. Pra...more

If prayer is effective, then why do anything else? If you get hungry, just pray to be sated. You analogize its efficacy to that of a ballistic weapon, so surely the list it can do is fill an empty tummy. Why, I'll ask you for even less. Pray for my doubts to be soothed- surely something that both you and God would want, and that God could do incredibly easily.
I'm waiting for the results.less
