hlerwin - How can you be born a Christian? You can be born into a Christian family yes, but being a Christian is a personal decision to repent of your sins and put your trust in Jesus Christ. Then you will be born of the Spirit of God. Have you accepted Jesus as your Saviour and Lord? If not I suggest you read John's Gospel and ask the Lord to reveal to you Jesus Christ and His salvation. Best decision I've ever made in my life.

hlerwin - I'm curious to read your comments "I think Christianity is the wrong religion for China". You're misguided here because Christianity is the RIGHT religion for China, and for every nation on earth at that matter! Every person on earth, whether American, Chinese or Japanese needs forgiveness for their sins to avoid being condemned on Judgement, and THE only way to receive eternal life is through Jesus Christ. The Bible makes it clear that there is no name under heaven or earth by which man might be saved. You're right in implying that the way we live our faith in Jesus Christ doesn't have to conform to one style of Christianity or another. We need to be lead by God the Holy Spirit. Thankfully there are millions of Chinese Christians who have confessed Jesus as their Lord and Savior and are willing to sacrifice all in this life for eternal glory. In fact, at current rates there will be more Christians in China than in the States in a few years time, praise God!

My opinion is if 'church' buildings can no longer function as they should i.e. a place where Christian believers can fellowship, worship together, hear the Word preached, take communion and baptisms etc, due to safetly or practical reasons then they should be knocked down and replaced with a modern building to worship the LORD in. From my experience on living in the Uk we are far too protective of old church buildings and have an, if I may be blunt, idolic hold onto the past and fail to live for the present. What annoys me is most people who object to knocking down old churches aren't actually believers themselves. There are thousands of church buildings already over protected by law which needs to change fast. Praise God that the real 'church' is actually Christians and not 'buildings' made by man.

SMGBA - here are the Scripture verses which mention tithing which i reckon amount to over 23%:

    - 10% Funded the Levite priests ministry (Numbers 18:21-16, 27:30).
    - 10% Paid for the festivals to build community & celebration (Deuteronomy 12:10-11, 12:17-18, 14:22-27)
    - 3.3% Helped the poor (Deuteronomy 14:28-29) (10% every 3 years)
    - Additional was given as gleanings for the poor and foreigners (Leviticus 19:9-10)
    - Plus, there were occasional additional tithes (i.e. Nehemiah 10:32-33)

    Comments anyone?

Questions to all Christians who feel led to tithe, do you tithe %10 or the Old Testament commandment to tithe %23-%33 (depending on how you interpret the OT law)?

I confess I am not perfect, but what I can't understand is that people like J.K. Rowling which have a personal fortune of over $100 million dollars give very little of their wealth to supporting aid organisations and charities helping those less fortunate. All these authors should practice what they preach when it comes to speaking out on the conditions in Darfur. Imagine if the 50 million plus people instead of spening money on worthless fictional books (not to mention anti-Christian) like harry potter donated the money to solving the peoblems in Africa and Asia - giving little children and babies access to clean drinking water and food to survive, blankets to sleep on and clothes to wear. And imagine if all the supposedly 'Christians' who bought a harry potter book instead gave the money to support the printing of over 10 bibles per harry potter book, giving children a real reaosn for hope. God bless.

Here we go again... just another addition to the already over 1000 English translations/study Bibles available which no doubt will cost the same as the entrie familys monthy income of over one billion people who have never heard the Gospel of Christ. It is distressing to think that over 4000 languages still do not have a Bible translated in their own language... it is a shame to Western Christianity. Why do we need a new evangelism Bible??? Why can't people just spend a couple of hours each day reading praying and seeking the Lord and reading their own Bibles and listening to the Lord's voice for scriptures to evangelise the lost???

  • English Churches Expect Higher Worshiper Turnout this Christmas

It is an encouraging report that church attendance is increasing in England this Christmas despite attacks on Christians through the media. Sadly a lot of people associated with the Church of England denomination have not met with the Lord Jesus Christ as Lord of their lives. Please pray for the minsters and pastors that they will preach Biblical truths on Christmas day so that the unsaved will know why we needs a Saviour.. that we have all sinned against God but He will forgive us through Jesus sacrifice on the cross if we need to repent and believe in Jesus Christ. May they trust in Jesus alone and not in 'religion' or trying to live a 'good' life and may they be filled with the Holy Spirit and empowered to fulfill the great commission and makes disciples for the Lord.

May the love of God fill the hearts of all who read this message this Christmas and may you be a blessing to others in Christ glorious name.

"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life...but whoever rejects the Son will not see life, for God's wrath remains on him." John 3:16,36

"Now this is eternal life: that they may know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent." John 17:3

I wonder if they will be taking the festival to the 10% 'middle class white and black South Africa' or the '90% impoverished black South Africans'? It will be great if the minstry is going to South Africa to share in it's vast wealth with those less fortunate than themselves - in a country where hundreds of thousands can't even afford a Bible or churches afford a church building. May the Lord be glorified!

'Australian Idol' is not Christian and is of this 'world'. None of the contestants are Christians anyway (the show has the word 'Idol' in it - enough said!) because if they were followers of Christ they wouldn't waste their time pursuing this pointless show! Christians should have no concerns about the show banning the contestants from talking about their personal beliefs. I'm sure the atheists aren't concerned that all the athiests on the show aren't allowed to talk about their unbelief in God anyway!

  • Criticisms Mount Against 'Rash' Korean Evangelism

People are criticizing them for not preparing but if they prayed deeply about it and felt called by the Lord to go to Afghanistan then I commend them for their obedience by stepping out in faith. The world will criticize them for doing this but the world does not know the Lord Jesus Christ and the Salvation He brings. It is sad that two missionaries were killed by the Taliban but we can rejoice also that their souls are in heaven right now "To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord". The Christian church is the only organization that does not lose a member through death! May the Lord bless South Korea and those faithful to Him!

I support the distribution of Bibles because a small percentage of them will be well received and read and open the doors for the opportunity for people to come to know the Living God through His written Word. I only question what translation of the Bible will be distributed as there are many bad translations out there. Also, as they are only distibuting the New Testament, I hope there will be an intoduction and overview of the Old Testament as well as a guide for those new to the Bible in how to read it and how to interpret it. Let's all of us Christians pray for this project that the power of the Holy Spirit will touch the hearts and minds of these pople that they will be open to God's work and come to a living faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.

In my opinion this article is only using half of the gospel to reach the lost and therefore falls short of reaching soulds for Christ. When witnessing we need to tell people that one day we will all stand before God and face His judgement. It's good to mention that we have all messed us and have missed the mark with God. But we also have to obey Biblical teaching and warn people of the consequences of our sins, that there is a hell. But once we've mentioned the consequence we can present them with the gospel, the good news, that God sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to suffer and die for our sins and that he took the punishment we deserve for our sins on the cross, so that by believing in him and trusting in him for salvation we can have eternal life, "For God so loved the world that He gave his only begotten Son, that whoever shall believe in Him shall not perish but have eternal life". Then they will understand why they need Jesus and will be prepared for the trials and tribulations that the Bible says all Christians will face.

dharris4662 you contratict youself. you tell us that we shouldn't follow any denomination teaching but then you tell us to follow these big ministries which are just as fallible in my opinion as these denominations. if you want to know the Lord you simply need to be filled with the Holy Spirit and read Gods Holy Word in the Bible and be equally accountable to other Spirit filled Christians who know the Lord personally, not some bigshot tv minister's teachings such as their latest '7-step plans to achieve xxx' etc.
