Diana,
Sadly, I agree with you! I LOVE Ray and I DO believe that his writing/teaching is SO right on! But to sell out (and he's NOT the ONLY one) to the Woofies, Crouch, TBN is WRONG! I KNOW you can say that THEY too need to hear the RIGHT message, but to me, putting even one penny in their pockets to do it is hypocrisy!

There is NEVER a justification for abortion. Even though it pains me to say it, that includes cases of rape/incest. The way I see it, as a born-again believer, is that God has given women the most incredible, the most amazing, the most miraculous, and the most fearsome privilege/responsibility of being able to host/carry a new life AND bring that new life into the world. What WE have done --in our "infinite wisdom" is to think that we know better than God, that WE can determine when "life begins" and whether or not to bring that life into the world. That is WRONG. Dead wrong. When WE --both men and women-- treat the privilege of pregnancy for what it is... a GOD-given gift, that is when we will realize that ANY abortion is wrong. But, as scripture says, "hearts are hardened" and we turn away from the truth. The problem of abortion will not go away unless we first look to change people's hearts with the life-saving, life-giving message of Jesus Christ.

So, how many of you critics HAVE ACTUALLY LISTENED TO Young talk about the book, the reason he wrote it, his intent at first for it to be for his family only, and the reason he decided to go ahead and SELF publish??? I HAVE! And I'll reiterate what I said before ... I have three options... 1) Take him at his word that he's NOT trying to teach or change theology, 2) Brand him a liar, or 3) Assume that I know his intentions better than he does. And considering what he said to Charles Morris, taking him at his word is the only realistic choice I have.

I read The Shack a couple of months ago. I enjoyed the story and I definitely got some good "takeaways" from it. I'm not quite sure where all the "hate" is coming from. I did not consider it to be theological or theologically threatening in the least. Sure. WIlliam Young took considerable PERSONAL liberty with his written portrayal of God and the Trinity, but IT'S ONLY A STORY, people, so get over it! I did happen to listen to William Young's radio interview with Charles Morris of Haven Today. I came away with the conclusion that I had these options: 1) Take him at his word that he's NOT trying to teach or change theology, 2) Brand him a liar, or 3) Assume that I know his intentions better than he does. And considering what he said, taking him at his word is the only true choice.

I agree that Joyce is CY$$$ing. And most would probably do the same thing given her circumstances? Why be unresponsive and uncooperative when you might endanger "the cash cow?" Her lifestyle is WAY over the top and she and her cronies don't want to jeopardize it! I also believe she's moved a little more to the "accepted" view of theology but only for the same reasons noted above.
On our own we are little more than bits of stone and glass. Together we are the Body of Christ. Holy Bible: Mosaic is an invitation to experience Christ in His Word and in the responses of his people. Each week, as you reflect on guided Scripture readings aligned with the church seasons, you will receive a wealth of insight from historical and contemporary writings.
