Here is an excellent essay I read today written by a UK bloke:

    Homosexual Relationships and the Bible
    by David Field

    Introduction

"Discussing homosexuality today is like fitting a plug to the lead of a lamp without being able to turn the current off first. Without knowledge, skill and enormous care the risks of disaster are high. All too often, more heat is generated than light.

I know this from painful personal experience. Within the space of a few weeks I spoke to two quite different audiences on this theme, using the same set of notes. On the first occasion, I was branded a reactionary bigot; someone in the second row actually tore up a Bible, screwed the pages into paper balls and threw the lot at me during my talk. On the second, my approach was considered far too liberal by an outraged Anglican churchwarden who threatened, in his anger, to push me through the wall of his church hall."

    Continued here:

    http://www.theologian.org.uk/bible/homosexuality.html

It probably will not make any sense to you if you are not born again/regenerated by the holy Spirit of God. I hope all Christians read it. I was convicted as I read the article because I have often been harsh in my dealings with others, friend and foe alike. To err is human, the result of sin.

"Fear, lest, by forgetting what you are by nature, you also forget the need that you have of continual pardon, support, and supplies from the Spirit of grace, and so grow proud of your own abilities, or of what you have received from God, and fall into condemnation ... Fear, and that will make you little in your own eyes, keep you humble, put you upon crying to God for protection, and upon lying at his footstool for mercy; that will also make you have low thoughts of your own parts, your own doings and cause you to prefer your brother before yourself. And so you will walk in humiliation and be continually under the teachings of God, and under His conduct in your way, God will teach the humble. "The meek will He guide in judgment, and the meek will He teach His way." - Psalm 25:9 (John Bunyan - The Fear of God, page 96)

"Sorry you have not understood the gospel of grace."

"Ah! but for free and sovereign grace,
I still had lived estranged from God,
Till hell had proved the resting place
Of my deserved, but dread abode.

But O, amazed, I see the hand
    That stopped me in my wild career;
    A miracle of grace I stand;
The Lord has taught my heart to fear."
    -Paice

"Once again shall we say the sinners prayer (well you can)"

I have to say a sinners prayer every moment of the day, all I am worthy of is death alone and to be cast into the lake of fire forever.

    A man's views of sin

(William S. Plumer, "The Christian", 1878)

Sin digs every grave, and wrings out every sigh and wail
from earth and hell. Sin is the worst of all evils. Nothing
can compare with it. It is worse than the plague. Sin is
unspeakably hateful. God calls it horrible and abominable.
Godly men in every age lament it--lament it much in
    others, most in themselves.

A man's views of sin give a complexion to all his
character. If he regards it as a trifle, he will laugh at
it, when he should weep over it. He will make a mock
of it. He will dally with it. He will take his fill of it. He
will have low thoughts of God, and low estimates of
salvation. He will despise Jesus Christ.

If, on the other hand, he considers sin as very dreadful and
very hateful--he will hate every false way. He will long for
holiness. He will hunger and thirst after righteousness.
He will loathe and abhor himself on account of sin. He will
have exalted thoughts of the being, perfections, word, and
government of God. To him Christ will be most precious,
the chief among ten thousand, and altogether lovely.

Job's sense of sin was vastly increased by the great
discoveries he had of God's majesty and glory: "I have
heard of You by the hearing of the ear; but now my eye
sees You. Therefore I abhor myself, and repent in dust
and ashes!" Increased views of God's glory had the same
effect on Isaiah, and made him cry out, "Woe is me! for
    I am undone!" (Job 42:5-6; Isaiah 6:5).

God's presence is infinite; His power is infinite; His nature
is infinite; His existence is infinite; and so to sin against Him
must be an infinite insult and wrong. Sin is an infinite evil.
Sin is that abominable thing which He hates. He hates sin
    with infinite loathing.

Mr. Obama seems to be becoming more powerful by the day? Be afraid, very afaid.

"Power tends to corrupt and absolute power corrupts absolutely" - Lord Acton

"The Bible is not vague or obscure or oblique about homosexuality. It couldn't be more clear. A homosexual will not inherit the Kingdom of God...that's pretty clear. Homosexuality in Romans chapter 1 is a perversion that is manifestly when it happens in a culture, begins to dominate a culture, an evidence of divine wrath and divine judgment. So the Bible is clear. They don't want that clarity. They want to run from the light. Scripture is light, it is not darkness, but they like the darkness because their deeds are evil." - John MacArthur "What"s So Dangerous About the Emerging Church?"

It is on the increase in the professing church and is steam rolling over everyone else in secular culture.

Mr. Obama is not warning the homosexual community to flee the wrath of God. He should be trembling at God's word.

"This is the judgment, that the Light has come into the world, and men loved the darkness rather than the Light, for their deeds were evil. For everyone who does evil hates the Light, and does not come to the Light for fear that his deeds will be exposed. But he who practices the truth comes to the Light, so that his deeds may be manifested as having been wrought in God." (John 3:19-21, NASB)

Tithing is a curse for the New Testament Church. Who wants to live under a curse? I thought Jesus came to set us free from the curse of the law?

The wages for the sin of homosexuality just like the wages of any other sin is death.

Divisions and separations are most objectionable in religion. They weaken the cause of true Christianity...But before we blame people for them, we must be careful that we lay the blame where it is deserved. False doctrine and heresy are even worse than schism. If people separate themselves from teaching that is positively false and unscriptural, they ought to be praised rather than reproved. In such cases separation is a virtue and not a sin. - JC Ryle, Warnings To The Churches

How to Get Decisions for Christ
((From, Hell's Best Kept Secret, by Ray Comfort))

"More than once when I have arrived in a city to preach, the pastor has said, "Were believing for plenty of decisions this weekend." My standard reply is, "How many would you like? Ten, twenty, thirty? If you want decisions, I can get them. But if you want to see people saved, that's different - salvation is of the Lord."

On the other hand, if we are quite happy to build our church with 'decisions', the following are ten tried and true points:

1 - Neglect making mention of future punishment.
2 - Preach the love of God and the promise of peace, joy, love, and fulfillment.
3 - Appeal to the emotions rather than the will and the conscience.
4 - Gloss over the serious of sin with 'all have sinned'.
5 - Neglect using the Law of God to bring conviction.
6 - For your invitation, use, "With every eye closed... nobody is watching... we don't want to embarrass you... just slip up your hand... yes... yes... thank you... yes."
7 - Have counselors make their way to the altar (using a 'drawing card')
8 - Sing "Just as I am" through eight times while you make your last appeal.
    9 - Use light dimmers.
10 - Build your church with the floor sloping toward the front.

You won't have to spend much time agonizing in prayer because this method works - it doesn't need the anointing! What's more, the time you save in prayer can be devoted to all the counseling you'll have to do. Your church will be transformed into a hive of activity because of all those involved in 'follow-up' ministry.

This is called "Stony-ground hearer" evangelism, which produces spurious (false) conversions. Many of these 'converts' become bitter backsliders, but those who do remain need a "souped-up" church with plenty of activities, or they will slip back into the world."

The flood wasn't the biggest act of violence or the biggest act of redemption, the crucifixion of the LORD Jesus Christ was the biggest act of redemption, to save His people from their sins and the wrath of God that is coming. The crucifixion was the biggest, most awesome act of violence there ever has been and ever will be.

"If we were limited to one word that could be used to tell who God is, that word would be Cross. Every attribute of God is on full display in the cross. We see His holiness and justice; God hates sin and must punish it! We see His wisdom in finding a way to be both Just and Justifier of the ungodly. We see His omnipresence in being in heaven and pouring His wrath upon His Son, while being on earth enduring His own wrath in theperson of His Son. We see His sovereignty in saving the one thief and passing the other by. We see His power in being able to put away sin. We see His eternal purpose unfold in "the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world." And how the attributes of love, grace, and mercy shine forth from the cross! s it any wonder Paul said, " determined not to know anything among you save Jesus Christ and Him crucified,"and "God forbid that I should glory save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ." There really is nothing else to preach or glory in! If we think there is, it is evident that we have never seen the real meaning of the cross." - Todd Nibert

What Orwell feared were those who would ban books. What Huxley feared was that there would be no reason to ban a book, for there would be no one who wanted to read one. Orwell feared those who would deprive us of information. Huxley feared those who would give us so much information that we would be reduced to passivity and egoism. Orwell feared that the truth would be concealed from us. Huxley feared the truth would be drowned in a sea of irrelevance. Orwell feared we would become a captive culture. Huxley feared we would become a trivial culture, preoccupied with some equivalent of the feelies, the orgy porgy, and the centrifugal bumblepuppy. As Huxley remarked in Brave New World Revisited, the civil libertarians and rationalists who are ever on the alert to oppose tyranny "failed to take into account man's almost infinite appetite for distraction." In 1984, Huxley added, people are controlled by inflicting pain. In Brave New World, they are controlled by inflicting pleasure. In short, Orwell feared that what we hate will ruin us. Huxley feared that what we love will ruin us. Neil Postman Amusing Ourselves to Death (pg. vii-viii)

"If you want to get out of debt, you've got to start tithing 10 percent (paying God) and saving 10 percent (paying yourself)."

Where does it teach in the Bible that Christians have got to tithe 10 percent (paying God)?

Tithing is not for the New Testament Church, it not for Christians. Tithing puts people back under bondage.

Yes, Christians should exemplify generosity as they are able to, and some are more able to do so than others and some are unable to do so at all, financially, due to one reason or another that is between them and God. That is one area where we as Christians can help each other. Many give very generously in a wide variety of ways, including their precious time and gifts and skills.

2 Corinthians 9:6The point is this: whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. 7Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. 8And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that having all sufficiency in all things at all times, you may abound in every good work.

"....9,018,540 individuals have made decisions for Christ...."

I wonder how many of those 9,018,540 individuals are/were actually born again of the Holy Spirit of God? How many have since died and appeared before the Judgment Seat? How many have died and are now lost forever? Making a decision for Christ saves no one nor does it regenerate anyone. The new birth is a divine sovereign work of God alone so as God gets all the glory alone and none to man. The new birth results in repentance and belief not the other way around. Repentance and belief are not the cause of the new birth. Regeneration precedes faith.

There needs to be an awakening to the absolute importance of the clear proclamation and preaching of the full biblical Gospel. Urgently!

'Decisions For Christ' - The Measure of Success?

"Trophies for "decisions" are imaginative to say the least, but they would be iconic of the popular mindset in evangelism. Churches and ministries today are doing outreach differently than in the past, and they are looking for validation of their new techniques. Decision-counts have become the standard unit of measure for quantifying God's blessing on: evangelism techniques, leadership methods, and sermon content. In this posting, we'll explore the claims, concept, and counting of "decisions for Christ"."

    1. What is theology?

    http://www.monergism.com/thethreshold/articles/onsite/qna/whatistheology.html

    What is theology?

    R. C. Sproul says in the preface of his excellent book "Essential Truths of the Christian Faith" ( http://shakinandshinin.org/EssentialTruths.pdf ) that "Every Christian is a theologian. We are always engaged in the activity of learning about the things of God. We are not all theologians in the professional or academic sense, but theologians we are, for better or for worse. The "for worse" is no small matter. Second Peter warns that heresies are destructive to the people of God and are blasphemies committed against God. They are destructive because theology touches every dimension of our lives.......No Christian can avoid theology. Every Christian has a theology. The issue, then, is not, do we want to have a theology? That's a given. The real issue is, do we have a sound theology? Do we embrace true or false doctrine?" So very true. All Christians are born again but not everyone who calls themselves a Christian is. True?

"The Shack" contains destructive heresies which many professing Christians cannot see. Serious error will never be easily swallowed unless copious amounts of truth is mixed in with it. It takes only a fraction of leaven to leaven the whole loaf. We live in a biblically illerate age where discernment has become a lost discipline. It has sprouted wings and flown out the window. How sad. The blindness is astounding. No fear of God. No trembling at His word. No holiness. Without holiness no one shall see the LORD.

In a short article by R.C. Sprouls' son titled "Theological Integrity: A Pastor's Perspective" ( http://www.ntslibrary.com/Online-Library-Theological-Intergrity.htm ) he sums up what he has to say with these words: "The distinction then between theology and practical theology is a false one. We must and will always preach what we practice. I labor as an editor to help people understand who God is so that they can better love Him, and those whom He has effectually called. And I labor as a pastor to help people obey these two great commands. I pray that my teaching, my practice, indeed all of my life would reflect the truth of who God is. My integrity is what is on the line with theological integrity, and the integrity of those under my care. Theology is not a parlor game, nor an academic exercise. Rather it is the study of the God who is, the source and sustainer of all things, and He who calls dead men like me to life. How can I, or anyone, play fast and loose in such a holy endeavor? 'Theology doesn't matter' is a lie, straight from the Father of Lies. Don't believe it."

Theology does matter, now and for eternity.
