Okay, everyone. Let's all hunt bob down so we can send the police to his house and have him locked up. Afterr all, the law clearly states that rude and annoying people should be locked up ... bob said so.
bob, I'm making a citizen's arrest, you are a pest ... not one of the best. So go be the state's guest, and have a great rest.

Faffy,
I noticed that you used that same delightful description (only changing 3 or 4 words) in a few posts already. Did you even come up with that yourself, or did you pilfer it from some other atheist who also thought they were clever?
I'm beginning to suspect you can't think for yourself :^)
Just for fun, I selected:
"walking dead Jewish deity who was his own father"
from your post and then Googled it. I came up with 295 hits from various websites all pretty much saying the same thing.
So, my general inquiry for you is ... Polly wanna cracker?

Delight,
I'd love to give you my whole testimony, including my struggle with leaving Catholicism, but it would eat up way too much bandwidth, here ;^)
In short, yes ... I believe I was called and then came. At times I feel "compelled" to seek out the Lord. Your citing of John 6:44 would probably be right on target with that. This was also corroborated by a sermon of John MacArthur I'd listened to; I believe it was on the doctrine of Sovereignty. Very hard doctrine to wrap your head around, since there's no cool analogy to compare to all the mystery of it.
I can tell you that the day I decided I wanted to be baptized (outside the RCC) was the day I felt true confidence that the path I entered was the right one :)

DelightntheLord,
>> Muggleborn, you may want to reconsider this statement. It seems to say that we can "think" our way to salvation. <<
>> Jhn 6:44 "No one can come to Me unless the Father who sent Me draws him; and I will raise him up at the last day. "
This says God draws one first and nowhere in Scripture is there claim that a proper "thinker" will inherit salvation. <<
I agree that is a very good point, Delight. Thank you. I didn't mean to say that at all. In context, the statement was just meant to be implicit of my faith in God, despite the fact that I've been educated in a world that says "if it can't be measured, it doesn't exist".
I believe in the absolute sovereignty of God, but I still took part in the decision to follow Christ :^)
God bless.

>> and not the sheep the bible teaches you to become <<
Hmmm. That's funny. It was thinking for myself that led me to my Lord and Savior.
We're all sheep of one flock or another. With Christ as your shepherd, you're led to salvation. With the world and its ideals as your shepherd, you're led to the slaughter.

That's not correct. Thousands of people who call themselves Christian, but are not, are terminating pregnancies.

You can imagine that you're life is never going to expire if you like, and someday you can try to imagine you're not in Hell... but we'll just leave that alone for you.
How about a skewed perception of self-worth that effects every other aspect of one's life? How about degradation of others perceptions of you? How about confusion or misunderstanding of what love is? How about having nothing about yourself to cherish or share with a life-long spouse? How about loss of innocence, dignity, self respect? How about the potential to spiral down into a pattern of self-abuse and willingness to be abused by others?
How about disease; Siphilis, HIV ... Death?
People that recklessly engage in sexual conduct outside of marriage ALWAYS put aside caution in favor of an orgasm ... Oh, but they call it trust :^) This is proven by the seemingly intelligent, clean-cut, well-spoken individuals who appear in TV commercials confessing that they have Herpes ;^)

>> Why do some Christians have such difficulty understanding the concept of consent? <<
You realize ... consent is often given from individuals who have seemingly no understanding of what harm may come to them.
People consent to use drugs, have illicit sex, commit crimes, kill themselves etc.
Consent doesn't imply good judgement or even a modicum of responsibility.
People who engage in acts with those who give "consent" but are incapable of understanding consequenses "may be" just as guilty as if they had raped that person.
So, in essence ... mwalsh is right on the money.

I've barely had time lately to even read through the articles. I've been extraordinarily busy this summer. Hope things are going well with you and in your church.
God bless.

I know that as Christians, we need to forgive these people, but I still find myself wanting to turn 'Al-Shabaab' into "Shish Kabob".
I pray for more grace to forgive others, dear Lord.

believer said,
>> it's ashame we've had to go to this in our local churches today for volunteers, but if not the use of background checks to ensure the safety of our kids <<
I've gotta go with believer on this one. A couple points though ...
I would hope that these volunteers for one, know that they are forgiven by their Lord and Savior, assuming they are truly repentant of their sins. They are redeemed by The Redeemer, not by works. And they should simply be forthcoming about their past.
I wonder if these churches couldn't offer some sort of alternative for them to serve, if not directly with kids or people then something only lightly interactive; handing out flyers for church events, answering phone calls, getting involved with prayer requests, etc. They just need to be a little creative, but they can still offer something inclusive without worrying about risky behavior.
Church institutions should respond with love and forgiveness, but on the side of caution ... we are still in the flesh after all, and pastors aren't mind-readers.

>> Read the article, folks. This man violated a court injunciton. That was the crime. Doesn't he have the self-control to wait until the court case?
Obviously not.
Such lack of self-control constitutes A CRIME. <<
So, obviously anything that a court injunction declares should be followed without question no matter how it tramples on a person's God given rights.
It would be hilarious if you got a court injunction someday to stop going to the bathroom, or looking in the mirror. Maybe sometime you'll find yourself being arrested for saying "Excuse me" or falling asleep :^)
Hmmm. Maybe CP admins should add a "show all" feature to the posting section.
