  • So. Baptists Now a 'Declining Denomination'

So. Bapts may have 16m members, but only about 6-7m show up for church on a regular basis. That's not a healthy church, hasn't been healthy for a couple of generations. But more telling is that in places like Atlanta & Dallas, bastions of the SBC, the abortion rate is as bad as NYC's.
    Incidentally, DRJ, I gave you a thumbs-down - but don't worry, it was pre-ordained!

  • Ohio Teacher Refuses to Remove Bible From Classroom

We live in a free country. That means that teachers are free as well. If the guy wants to have a Bible on his desk, that's his business. It is an appropriate expression of freedom, just as having the "God Delusion" on one's desk is an appropriate expression of freedom.
The actions of the Board in this case are discriminatory and violates the guy's constitutional rights.

Gee, Colson is a criminal - he can't be trusted! How about trying to deal with what he says? Stein is a funny, witty, intelligent man. The interviewers apparently explained their agenda to the interviewees beforehand and now, they are crying 'foul.' Free inquiry, the freedom to question the assumptions of a position are absolutely necessary for science to flourish. No question should be 'off limits.' Stein is doing America and the scientific community a favor by exposing this.

To call Specter a "conservative" is to empty the term of any meaning.

  • The Culture War is Over: We Lost!

We'd "lost" before the 'Scopes Monkey Trial' in the early days of the twentieth century. Christianity is salt, always a very small minority of the general population. God's elect from every age will respond to the gospel of Jesus Christ, if Christians will just have the wisdom and boldness to proclaim Him.
The 'culture wars' have been a diversion from our calling. We are not called to be the arbitrators of good taste. We are called to proclaim forgiveness in the name of Jesus. The Church is always most effective when she is most concerned about the things of God.

  • Grassley Still Waiting on Preachers Under Financial Scrutiny

Grassley has no business doing this. If laws are being broken, then the IRS and the Justice Dept. have jurisdiction. If not, it's just a witch hunt. The ministries queried should refuse to cooperate. I do not support the ministries nor their practices, but the good Senator has no business doing what he is doing.
