I believe African-American Christians DO have a biblical worldview as it has been defined in this thread; as well we as Christians SHOULD be concerned about the affairs of this world as well, including addressing ALL inequalities and immorality including protecting the rights of the unborn AND the born - NO matter the color of their skin!
Gratis,
I am offended by your comments....as a Christian woman, I am EQUAL in the eyes of God and in the eyes of my husband.....different, yes...but EQUAL.
I am no better than he (husband) and he is no better than me!
We are joined together in a covenental marriage PARTNERSHIP to win souls for Christ and to build His Kingdom for His Glory! I was not made ONLY to please him, or he to please me!
And although, I am under the covering of male leader (senior pastor), I am an ordained minister and in leadership in my church home! NO ONE can refute His call in my life!
And yes, the spiritual leader of my home, my husband, is in FULL SUPPORT of God's call on my life as I am in his!

AMEN AND AMEN!!! Finally, a rational comment about this topic!!
lipoftruth:
Do you know for a FACT that the church (Trinity UCC) does NOT support the sanctity of life and marriage?
Obama's record, yes, anyone can research and judge accordingly....BUT....
Do NOT make comments slamming an ENTIRE church unless you have the facts!!!!
D. Walker:
answer to question #1: YES THERE IS A RACIAL PROBLEM IN AMERICA!! NO DOUBT ABOUT IT!!
answer to question #2: NO DOUBT RACISM IS A SIN -- JUST AS FORNICATION, ADULTERY, HOMOSEXUALITY, PRIDE, ETC. are SINS!!
God is an equal-opportunity HATER of ALL SIN -- NO sin is "greater" or "worse" in His Eyes! People who think otherwise are fooled!!
Yes, there needs to be dialogue on racial problems in America and in America's churches!
I am blessed to be a member of the most racially and culturally integrated churches in the midwest!! AND would say that our church has the most interracial couples and families percentagewise throughtout the midwest!!

AMEN!!
I would NEVER attend a church that doesn't have a live, flesh-and-blood ordained minister being used as an instrument of the Lord to preach His Word.
These mega-churches usually have MANY male and female ordained ministers on staff....let one of THEM go and preach the word AND pastor those satellite churches.
CRC:
You are COMPLETELY CLUELESS!! Read the article!!!

AMEN AND AMEN!! Couldn't have said this better. This is a NO brainer for TRUE Christians!! There is NOTHING right about this!!
10+ years and still going strong!! NOTHING but high praise for my work ethic...
PRAISE THE LORD!!

All I am saying is that if you believe Sen. Obama is not qualified for the job, then by all means don't vote for him! If you believe he doesn't have the characteristics you want in a president, then don't vote for him!
I'm speaking to those who are stooping to the lowest common denominator by fearmongering and race-baiting - that is SO NOT modeling Christ's love!
And to answer your question: yes, I am in a VERY PRESTIGIOUS job that, on paper, I would not have normally qualified for because I don't have a juris doctor degree!! I had a KILLER interview, though.... :)
Those of you allegedly modeling Christ's love QUIT the race-baiting, fearmongering ALREADY! Vote for or against Sen. Obama because of his stand on the issues, not because of something so insignificant as his middle name!

I live in Illinois....and it's all over the news about the killings at NIU (Northern Illinois University). This is truly a sad time. Anniefourjesus, I am in agreement with you; we should forgive those as Christ has forgiven us. ALL of us deserve the Ultimate death penalty: eternal life without Christ and doomed to hell. Because of Jesus, we have Eternal Life. There does need to be forgiveness for what he has done. Forgiveness, however, does not mean forgetting what he has done: there should and will be consequences to his actions!! The court system will administer justice as it sees fit; but there is one Judgement that this young man WILL face.
THAT SAID, valkyrie1966 does touch on a very good point about kids today....Where were the parents in RAISING this child during his younger ages? Children should have two fears instilled(awesome respect): Fear of God AND parents! That was how I was raised and even to THIS DAY, I dare not cross, raise my voice or talk back to my mother or father! Parents NEED to be PARENTS, NOT FRIENDS to their children! Wait until the child is fully grown and matured to become his/her friend!! I really and truly believed my parents had eyes all over their body -- and my every action was monitored! My stepson to be will be instilled with the same type of values that worked well for me!
pvlman: I agree!
If this were a PERSONAL endorsement (of which he has the right) this pastor should have used his PERSONAL stationary! ANY written correspondance on church stationary can and does mean it's official CHURCH business or communication!
My bad...I meant to use the word perpetuate.....as in continuing on with.....
Thank you for your answer (and clarification)....
I STILL don't see how a film, based on a true story, could perpetuate racism....segregation was a fact..some would argue that it IS still a fact......for people to know what happened creates dialogue; knowing about the past does not create division or racism. In fact, I am going to encourage my fiance' to see it with me and get his take on it.
Right on gavulav!

I agree with guvaluv, but at the same time, I am also concerned about this film perpetuating racism instead of promoting unity.
My friend, HOW can a movie based on a true story perpertrate racism when it was alive and well??
Romans 12:18-20(NIV):
18If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone. 19Do not take revenge, my friends, but leave room for God's wrath, for it is written: "It is mine to avenge; I will repay,"says the Lord. 20On the contrary:
"If your enemy is hungry, feed him;
if he is thirsty, give him something to drink.
In doing this, you will heap burning coals on his head."
All I know is that I am a sinner saved by grace through faith, just like every other believer in the Lord Jesus Christ.
By the Grace of God go I.....
Prophet and ifeelfine:
AMEN and AMEN!! I agree that the death penalty should be abolished! Aside from the Jesus said in the NT in the verses Prophet referenced to (Matthew 5:38-47), how can we as Christians, born again by the precious Blood of the Lamb, who DESERVE to die not only in the physical but the spiritual as well (apart from God for eternity) have been given life eternal by grace through faith, are enabled to end the life of another?

Clarification: not just "those" preachers are to serve the Body but ALL preachers who are called to Christ's service .... which includes yours truly.....
On our own we are little more than bits of stone and glass. Together we are the Body of Christ. Holy Bible: Mosaic is an invitation to experience Christ in His Word and in the responses of his people. Each week, as you reflect on guided Scripture readings aligned with the church seasons, you will receive a wealth of insight from historical and contemporary writings.
