  • University of Minnesota Apologizes for Mascot's Mock Prayer

If "Goldy" (or actually the person in the suit) had apologized it would have meant something....this is just some PR person trying to get the school past this shameful situation.

Human sacrifices during OT times would be directly equivalent (especially since they were sacrifices of their infant children) to abortion today...sacrificing your health for your job...just a bit of a reach.

Changing the Catechism won't change what scripture teaches. Sticking their head in the sand won't make what God said go away or change the outcome.

Not to say anything bad about Ray and Kirk (who are wonderful guys and put themselves on the line for Jesus every day) but they might not have been the right ones for that debate. They needed people who are used to dealing with that kind of person.

The same problem may arise this time. Although having seen the two who are arguing against the existence of Satan it may not be so much of a problem. They aren't any kind of Christian apologists either.

I think as Christians our mentality has to be that we are wholly in God's hands. We should go to church trusting totally in Him and accept what happens whether good, bad, peaceful or violent. We have nothing to fear if we are His, not even death.

I feel we should apologize to all the Christians being beaten, tortured, imprisoned and killed in China for living as Christians.

I find it embarrassing that a representative our our government would slap all those precious brothers and sister in the face, by bowing to the pressure of the government that daily persecutes them, by doing what they suffer for not doing.

    Shame on her is right.

    inthebeloved -

I believe that God made promises and gave prophecies in the Old Testament that have not been fulfilled yet. I believe that God does not change nor break His word. In order for replacement theology, which is un-scriptural, to be correct those things would have to be true.

Of course Jesus fulfilled promises made in the Old Testament. That doesn't in anyway validate the belief that God has turned His back on His chosen people.

Whether you were to post verses or chapters, the matter is still the whole of scripture vs taking parts out of context (the context of the whole Bible). When read as a whole, the pattern of God's Word is undeniable. That is why I suggested a few posts back that someone read the Bible. In order to really understand the scripture, it has to be read as a whole from beginning to end. Only then does one see the amazing completeness and continuity from beginning to end.

Just out of curiosity...... what is your take on Romans 11:25-32?

awake777us and inthebeloved - As with most errors people can make with Biblical matters, if you take passages out of context and not view the scriptures as a whole, you can make mistakes in what they say. In order to view scripture as you do, you would have to completely ignore the Old Testament, assume that God didn't mean what He said, and also ignore passages such as the one I've mentioned already.

awake777us - Actually you need to read Romans 11:25-32 and the rest of the Bible. The Jews are still and always will be God's chosen people. We as Christians are adopted sons and daughters.

bernie.dehler - I know no Christians that are embarrassed by Pastor Hagee, and I know a lot of Christians. Who are you referring to? If you have proof of any wrong doing on his part please present it, not some vague innuendo and rumor.

wrhalver - I'm not sure where you've read this but I'm sorry you're wrong. I followed this case very closely on the news, as this subject is very important to me, and this woman touched my heart from the moment I first saw how she reacted to her mother.

I'm not sure if you fully understand this situation. This family wanted to keep her alive, and they fought tooth and nail to do so. Her mother, father and siblings tried everything they could to get the court to let her live. It was her husband, who had his own motives, who fought to have her put to death. I don't think he is the idyllic family, looking out for the patients good, that you seem to envision.

God makes it plain that we are to stand up for what is right. Granted, once evil is done, we are to let him repay, but to simply let someone be killed and not try to save them is wrong.

wrhalver - Do you believe that the family should be able to starve someone to death (someone without any legal, or even written, life directive) because they think the person's life isn't worth living or for reasons that might, shall we say, benefit them more?

I've also pretty much had it with your insults and veiled accusations, so I'll call it a day unless someone else has something to say.

    ifeelfine72 -

No what I'm saying is that as I've stated, from my own personal experience, those who are in these kinds of advisory roles do get paid for being the mouthpiece of large corporations..sorry, "non-profit" large corporations. I have just as valid a reason to believe she's being paid as you do to not believe it. I'm saying if you want to pursue whether she's being paid or not feel free.

I care that this company has made an estimated 1 billion dollars in profit this last year alone, after after being funded by my tax dollars, to murder babies, etc.... I care that this woman, who's job is to portray an adulterous doctor on TV, is out on the liberal media circuit giving advice that could effect what is being presented as truth to my grandchildren in school, while seemingly having no medical, theological, or academic credentials to do so. As far as I can see, she has no more reason to be giving my children advice than say Paris Hilton, or Jessica Simpson. If you would want one of them to give your children, if you have any, advice on how they live their lives, please feel free to continue to argue.

You may be confused but murder and dishonest gain are against Christian ideals. I encourage you to read a Bible to understand what Christian ideals are....as for "right wing ideals", I care not one bit what they are. You do understand that this is a Christian site, not a "conservative Republican" site?
