I didn't read in the manifesto that it actually supports abortion and gay marriage. If anything it speaks against it. Lets be clear on exactly what it proposes and what it does not. I think discussing it will be good.

Jakes is a "Jesus Only" guy and there is little good that can come from a heretical foundation.

"They teach that you really can't understand the Bible, nor are you supposed to. Rather you need to experience it; it's not what God says, but how you feel about it; its content is to be received really subjectively or experientially."

In the absence of biblical truth, there remains no common ground to have the "conversation" so desired by some of the emergent types.

Our obligation to "support" the modern state of Israel is clear in Scripture? Can anyone develop a logical set of propositions that would arrive this conclusion?

There is little evidence to support that Modern Day Israel has anything to do with the Bible's Israel.

The NIV is NOT a translation. It is a dynamic equivalent. It conveys a thought for thought equivalent and not a word for word translation. For reading its fine. For serious study its lacking. The NASB, is probably one of the most accurate english translations out there.

"Heb 12:2 fixing our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of faith" If Jesus authors our faith He will perfect it, so, if our salvation is begun by Christ... we can not lose it.

"Php 1:6 For I am confident of this very thing, that He who began a good work in you will perfect it until the day of Christ Jesus." Again, if Jesus begins a work in us, He will perfect it! Lets face it folks, if you say a a truly converted person can lose His salvation, you are saying that these scriptures are untrue.

I am glad that Mark is casting off what is becoming a stigma. Namely, the terms "Emerging or Emergent." Also while it is not mentioned in this article, the term "Missional," is being hijacked as well by those who will deny the absolute truth of the scripture. Mark describes 4 lanes, but there are countless others in the movement or should I say "conversation," that have denied the exclusive way to Slavation (Jesus), the existence of hell, and even the supreme place of scripture as an authority for living as a Christian. Its one thing to fight those that we know our outside of the the Christian faith, its quite another when the enemy is already in the camp and wearing our uniforms.

"The two groups are largely considered to be cults by evangelical Christians" The two groups ARE cults and while evangelical Christians need to learn from their actions and Evangelize with just as much zeal, but, accept none of their doctrine which denies the deity of Christ. Lets no even pretend to accept them into what most would call a Christian Church, because they remain enemies of Christ

Joshua 24:15 But if serving the Lord seeing undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve. - This passage is not about making a choice to serve God or not serve God, but a command to choose between two different pagan gods. It is good that this dialog is happening though.
